Tony Kidd is also an amazing person. Joe I am not sure how you and I end up on opposite sides of the table so much. So my daughter is in total agreement with you after laying claim to the one I built LOL. Now of course I had to have something different just to show her the ole man still got it. Well I am still looking to compete with her with that thing LOL. I wish you would stop making these kind of videos making her right LOL. Great video thanks partner.

Since 14 years ago . I found out from Rimfire central . The cheat code for accurate 10/22 .
Get an all KIDD . 20” plain bull barrel . Get a stock that accommodate kidd rear tang .
    Boom you will get a 1” 5 shots groups at 100 yards 10/22 .
It is so good . I stick with Kidd . Never try any other 10/22 built anymore.
All Kidd receiver , bolt , charging handle , rear tang , trigger and 20” plain bull barrel !

This is the best advice! I got a second 16" barrel with a threaded muzzle (which I never use), but if you can only have one, plane bull is the way to go.

I've been down a few 10/22 rabbit holes. I put together both a Volquartsen (barrel, bolt, trigger and receiver) and a Kidd (barrel, bolt, trigger and receiver) both in KRG Bravos chassis. Same chassis, same glass, same barrel length and the Kidd consistently outshoots the Volquartsen.

Living in Australia, I can't have a nice 10/22 (Not on my license anyway). But i have built a similar rifle on a Volquartsen Summit action, in the same Kidd chassis and with a short carbon wrapped barrel. Still testing different ammo (SK and Lapua are in short supply) but i can confirm it hated Eley Match! 1.5" spread at 25m:S Eley club did pretty well , but i'm still waiting to get some SK match to try.

I’ll take an off the rack 10/22 send it to CPC for a tune up and have great light weight hunting rifle. This Kidd I have no doubt is a tack driver, but that’s all it’s good for, driving tacks off a bench. If that’s what you into its probably a great deal. The focus would be on IF.

I know what you mean. I wanted a 10/22 to enjoy shooting a 10/22 along side my daughter's 10/22, share mags, ammo, same platform ect. I ended up with a $900 .950 factory CHF SS Bull Barrel 10/22. Well to my disappointment it wasn't much more accurate than her basic 10/22 banded barrel synthetic stock 10/22. My $250 Savage MKII fluted bull barrel could easily out shoot my 10/22 and my $700 Savage SS CHF .950 Bull Barrel bolt action MKII made my 10/22 group look like garbage. I stopped there knowing I would be thousands of dollars in to get a 10/22 to shoot as accurately as even my $250 Savage MKII fluted Bull barrel 22.

That’s awesome! Like you, I went down that rabbit hole too but I luckily didn’t go $3k deep. After watching a bunch of videos, I just decided to build one that wasn’t a Frankenstein gun. I went with all Volquartsen parts and have I have about the same money in mine as you have in yours. My single stage trigger pulls at 1.5 lbs. I run the Arken SH4 II 6-24x50 scope with Arken rings and a Luth -AR chassis with a Magpul bipod. It shoots @ 1/4 moa @ 100 yards with Tenex ammo. After seeing yours with that MDT stock, now I want to build your exact rifle! Very nice and congrats on a great rifle!!

I just can't justify $2k on a rimfire rifle. If I was back east with no room to shoot, maybe... I suppose. But I'm in Wyoming and I need to stretch it out! Know what I mean? I'd rather put $2k into a centerfire magnum that I can shoot 2k yards with... a dollar for a yard's worth of range. What is a rimfire? $20 a yard? Sorry bro, just can't get behind that. For a rimfire, it is a shooter though.

It's amazing how much money you can sink into a 10/22 and still have an absolutely mediocre POS. And then sell it for 1/3 of what you have into it if you're lucky. This looks like the way to go if you have scratch that itch.

  • @bladejames8208

8 Oz trigger is insane for a 10/22. You had better warn anyone who shoots it that sneezing on the trigger will make it go off. My CZ 75 9mm TSO (Tactical Sport Orange) Custom Shop CZ pistol breaks at 8 Oz with no take up (1/32nd or less). I warn people before they shoot it so no accidental discharges occur. I have several competition ARs, 9mm pistols and 9mm PCCs that have upgraded and worked triggers that break sub 1lb and down to the 8 Oz TSO trigger. I freaking love them and am used to them but, I always have to warn people who shot them. Most people are used to 5-9lb triggers.

  • @mikemcmanus116

Got a 10/22 "style" rifle. Fedderson barrel, Titan stock, everything else is Kidd-receiver, bolt, two stage trigger (6oz), all internals, charging handle, bolts, pins, ect are Kidd only part not Kidd is a Gunsmither V block. Nothing Ruger left. Sold all the original Ruger parts and recovered about half the cost of the initial Ruger. I would have been better off just buying the parts to begin with. If I were doing it today I would by a SuperKidd already built. When I did this Kidd was not selling completed rifles. I went with the Fedderson barrel because it was slip fit and not pressed fit. IMO and many others, the Fedderson barrels are just as accurate as the Kidd but not hand lapped like the Kidd barrels. A bit cheaper and I think just as accurate.
