When I’m talking to people about veganism (and 90% of the time I’m not the one who brings it up) people always say “OMG but you can’t eat steak” and I always say “I CAN eat whatever I want, I just CHOOSE not to because it doesn’t align with my point of view” and once I starting looking at it that way, veganism became a lot less restricting
WHen people tell me that I usually say, when I see steak I see a cow dragged to the slaughter floor, tortured and killed because that is what it is. And that in my mind all animal products conjure up that imagery. That usually does the trick, especially if you say it in a soft matter-of-factly, no fiinger pointing way.
1 CORINTHIANS 10: 25 :"Whatever in the meat-market is sold eat ye, not inquiring, because of the conscience." Do abandon the unnatural vegan diet, fighting against nature.
I love the way you put across your point of view. I’ll totally steal this line when I speak to others who ask me this question/statement “but you are missing out on cheese and ice cream and what not”..
Sorry lady... but I am not living a less fun life and actually do not miss milkshakes or the beef burgers at all, since becoming vegan. What you actually miss are probably seductive enzymes in cheese, milk and meat, that got produced while your digestion. So in a way becoming vegan was like the healing of an addiction and now I am finally free again. Food should nourish us to be free, not make us crave, to be bound.
There are so many vegan-friendly options for "indulgent" foods! Type in recipes with "vegan" afterwards and there is most likely a ton of choices! Nice cream is always a winner in my opinion:)
I don't live a "less fun" life, though I admit it is pretty hard on me emotionally at times because I am very passionate about animals and knowing what happens to them daily, by the billions, really upsets me. But I LOVE to eat and I don't feel like I'm missing out. There is literally a vegan version of any non-vegan food. It's not like you're giving up foods, you're just no longer taking things that never belonged to you to begin with.
I was vegetarian all my life but being vegan since the past 4 years has changed my perception of other beings. For example- I’m more aware and cautious about my lifestyle and choices- trying to be a minimalist and do the best for the environment. I care more about insects and treat every soul with kindness. I’m more of a feminist now than ever before because I care about the mothers and children who endure suffering everyday at our hands in slaughterhouses and animal farms. It changes something at your core and you’re never the same again. And the benefits of all this is good health and a clear conscience.
Well... women breast milk also has pus in it. Except the pus from animals are completely inert to us, so not an issue at all. Milk from woman or animal (humans are animals as well) are healthy to their offsprings and all humans needed milk to grow into adulthood and it contains everything needed to grow animal (human) bodies.
What amazes me is how much people care about rescuing animals and what it takes to rescue them, but then go and eat a hamburger. They just don’t realize. 😞
Bruceann Yellowega Not all animals are created equal. At some point you have to turn off your feelings. You really care about a clam? A cricket? A shrimp? If you love dolphins, you're no friend to a herring.
I learned a lot from the book Eating Animals. I am vegan, but I choose not to see the movie. Factory farming is disgusting, but I don’t think that there is a right way to kill animals. The so-called “right way” to feed and butcher animals is not sustainable. But if we use those grains to feed hungry people, we would not have people starving. And yes efforts towards veganism is a step in the right direction, but it justifies the unethical behavior the rest of the time. For instance, meatless Mondays, lets one not focus on the atrocities that happened Tuesday through Sunday. They’re still there.

Cool video break. Watching this during my intermission of making my sis scallion cashew cheese, stuffed Bell and jalapeno peppers for her birthday today. Soooo good.😁🤗❤
I went pescatarian and then vegetarian for about 2 months before going vegan, I thought it was a nice gradual transition because I will miss what I eat. Thinking back now I wish I just jumped straight to being vegan, those 2 months was just a waste of time. Anyway if you are scared of turning vegan, its natural to be scared of it because its not something you are used to, but its not really that scary once you are doing it!
I watched earthlings and I can’t take those images out of my head... I watched it two weeks ago and I haven’t had meat. I still eat cheese but thanks to the comment about “mucus”, I don’t think I will be able to eat cheese again.
I don't get why vegans get angry about people who are trying to be vegan. Nobody is perfect remember? And every try should be appreciated in my opinion. Every meal that is eaten without animal products in there is a step forward. With every meal you did something good! Why does not everybody see it this way instead of judging people for not doing it 'the right way' right away?
George Orwell Oh wow that was not what I was trying to say.. Eating animal products definitely is something you should at least reduce. I think not only the human body will thank you
George Orwell why not? whole foods and plants can give you everything you need. You have to be careful about your nutrients intake and listen to your body ^^
You can't get : DHA omega 3, Vitamin A, Vitamin K2, B-12 for starters. On top of that, you cannot ABSORB almost any of the nutrients locked inside the plants, because your body cannot break down the cellulose. This should be easy to understand. Microbes in the stomach of plant eating animals are what break down cellulose and can digest it creating saturated fats. Humans have hydrochloric acid in our stomachs which is only good for breaking down meat, eggs, fish and dairy foods.
On the one hand, I'm not against the gentle "baby steps" approach to introducing veganism to the populace since it's the same approach I took to becoming vegan, but on the other to hear someone say "to try once a week is enough", especially coming from another vegan, doesn't sit right with me and sends the wrong message. Once a week animal-free it NOT enough. It's s start, but nobody should decide to settle there.
I understand the movie’s approach in explaining that it’s about doing the best you can. Of course, I’m sure Natalie Portman would love everyone to go vegan, but she would come off as judgmental and pushing her views on people if that’s the way she talked about it.

@@crazycarl00 well it’s 4 years later. And I am still in great health. Mentally too. Which means I don’t go online and write horrible messages to strangers telling them their life will be short. Tell me, how come MY personal choice of NOT harming animals is such a wrong that you must be angry about it. You can just eat them you know. Eat yours in peace and let vegans NOT eat them in peace.
I haven't seen the movie, but cows are being fed corn, which makes the cows sick. When cows are grazed on grass and not fed corn, they don't get sick. Best regards.
I also want to call out the difference between “vegan” and “plant-based” because these terms are being used interchangeably. The former involves committing yourself to an ethical lifestyle that aims to reduce suffering to other non human animals in every practically possible way (e.g going plant based, wearing/using/consuming cruelty free products without animal ingredients, and speaking up for animals). Plant based on the other hand is usually limited to dietary choices for personal reasons without any strings attached. A vegan is plant based but the opposite may not necessarily be true. Either way it is a great start for anyone who cares about their health, animals and the environment. It doesn’t have to perfect but it’s important to take that first step. I think where we vegans fail is when we become militant. I have personally experienced this when I’ve become “preachy” and people shut off so I try other approaches to help people introspect and think about their choices. We need to take an effort to empathize and understand the other side and continue to educate and spread awareness to help shift the mindset gradually. I think inherently most people care about animals and the planet but not everyone is capable of making a switch overnight in their behaviors.
The biggest reason why people don't want to try Vegan/vegetarian food is mainly the taste..there is no flavor and boring...the remedy is that you folks need to try Indian food...not that shitty food that is served in Indian restaurants, but home cooked. Plethora of options with variety of Lentils, grains, spices and to keep a healthy gut, variety of foods that are fermented..there is simply no dearth of options.
I feel like animal farmers doing it right is an oxymoron. So I guess she is not an abolitionist vegan? That’s unfortunate. Also, “you don’t have to do the whole thing”, Nikki? Really? Well the goal should be the ‘whole thing’ though right?? Cause you did make that clear.
The goal should be the whole thing BUT every little bit helps. If that one choice, echoes over the USA and it saves ONE life...it is worth it. Even just for one meal. Every little bit helps.
You’ll never read this. It’s a year later. I’ve been vegan for 19 years and think thoughtful ranchers are better than dipshit vegetarians who live unexamined lives. Being a conscious world citizen only starts with becoming vegan. Active, smart living is amazing living.
5:04 I really don't understand when people do this at all. If you feed your kid an omnivorous diet, vegetarian, vegan, raise them catholic or atheist, you're imposing beliefs on them. Why would you force them to harms animals THEN wait for them to go vegan? If my parents were vegan and raised me like that, I would be appalled.

This is not being vegan. Vegan is respecting the life of another being. To say that if you do it the "right" way, you can go back to eating meat is preposterous. This is a horrible message. She is promoting carnism and not veganism. Just horrible.
She is also rich and can afford a private chef, expensive foods, so she can probably delay the negative health impacts of a vegan diet, but most vegans who are not rich will show bad health even within a few months.
Natalie herself enjoys recipes and supplements adjusted by her personal nutritionist at any time according to her physical condition. She has her own personal assistant and cook delicious vegetarian food every day, using the most expensive health care products and medical maintenance methods to maintain her health. Lying in the illusion of "harmony between human beings and animals" heaped up by money, power and high-end medical treatment, I wonder if these things are affordable to 16,000 ordinary students. How many people in the world can lie down in this illusion?
I am glad for the uptick in conscious filmmaking but it seems a little lightweight in message with respect to animals and their right to fully live their lives free from human control.
I do not believe in "factory farming" and go out of the way to buy from local farmers and markets. I consume a ton (not literally...lol) of veggies and fruits and eat tofu (my cultural background). I also recycle heavily. The vegan lifestyle is good, but I love the way they both skirt the fact that most vegans have a "better than you" attitude towards other people and that is one reason why fewer people will try it. I, myself, was a pescatarian for a few years and got DAILY grief from my "friends" who were Vegetarians, not Vegans. Vegan is a lifestyle not merely a menu option. Another reason people avoid Vegan is inherent food cost. A majority of folks do not have jobs that afford them the luxury of paying hundreds of additional dollars for food for themselves and their families. They are not overpaid celebrities, but teachers, factory workers, and day laborers.
But how do you bring the subject up without it seeming that you're saying "I'm better than you"? It's difficult. If people think that's what we think, well, we can't stop them thinking it and maybe there is a tinge of guilt there. A case of, heck, they're making that effort and what am I doing? As regards cost, you have to be a savvy shopper. I get a lot of vegan stuff when it's on offer, like plant based milk reduced from £1.80 for a litre (admittedly quite dear) to £1 or £1.25. The cow alternative is £1. Got a vegan pizza this morning reduced from £2.50 to £2.
Harrison I seriously doubt it is "envy" or "guilt" as you say. And plenty of folks are savvy shoppers.. many moms have to be with a limited income and X mouths to feed. Some Vegans are just a bad as some Prius owners a few years back with the whole attitude. I should know, being a former pescatarian and having acquaintances and friends that are hardcore Vegetarians and others that are Vegans.
"most vegans have a 'better than you' attitude" Supposing you lived 200 years ago, during the time of slavery, and supposing most abolitionists had a "better than you" attitude, would you find that a justification for continuing to support slavery? The good news is that you can become a better person too, nobody's stopping you. So stop making up excuses. The other good news is that the healthiest vegan diet, a whole foods plant based diet, is also the cheapest.
Oh, good, I wanted to watch it, but was bit delaying, because I thought of scary pictures there, which I know anyways we need to see, but still it's relief to know this film is different, I can watch it today without preparing myself.
Unfortunately not everyone can eat vegan/vegetarian... For anyone who has anemia and needs meat for the iron that is easily absorbed or anyone who has food allergies/intolerances (which are increasing amongst the population and are mostly vegetable-based with corn, soy, and wheat being three of the top allergens), a vegan diet is not necessarily feasible. We need to change the way we treat animals, make the industry more environmentally-sustainable, and start to rely on lab-grown meats that will be available soon. But the fact is, as a polluter and driver of climate change, factory farming is still small potatoes in comparison to coal, oil, and gas, which make up the majority of the companies that drive the destructive climate change phenomenon and that is where our efforts to make change will have the most impact overall--> "Just 100 companies have been the source of more than 70% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions since 1988....a relatively small set of fossil fuel producers may hold the key to systemic change on carbon emissions....more than half of global industrial emissions since 1988 - the year the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was established - can be traced to just 25 corporate and state-owned entities. The scale of historical emissions associated with these fossil fuel producers is large enough to have contributed significantly to climate change....ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and Chevron are identified as among the highest emitting investor-owned companies since 1988. If fossil fuels continue to be extracted at the same rate over the next 28 years as they were between 1988 and 2017, says the report, global average temperatures would be on course to rise by 4C by the end of the century. This is likely to have catastrophic consequences including substantial species extinction and global food scarcity risks." www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2017/jul/10/100-fossil-fuel-companies-investors-responsible-71-global-emissions-cdp-study-climate-change And the truth is we will not be able to effectively combat climate change if we continue to rely on a capitalistic system with all its waste, exploitation, and inefficiencies that result in increased profits for a few while most people, animals, and ecosystems suffer. Capitalism is the main driver of SO many of the problems we have before us and if we can transition out of it, a lot of those disastrous problems would cease or be minimized greatly. We need a new system that has environmental sustainability as an operational process, something that is built right into the way the system itself functions---here is an outline of such a system, please watch this important video to learn moe--> ruclips.net/video/K9FDIne7M9o/видео.html Thank you for reading.
I have end stage kidney disease since I'm 14 years old ( now 29 ) and I have to go to dialysis 3 times per week, I have no kidney functions besides the machine. I can't eat vegan, because I should have eat foods, that kills me instantly, in nuts and beans, lentiles etc, are a lots of potassium and high potassium stops your heart, not one of my friends died in this problem. I can't get a transplant too. I have a very few diet choices, but sometimes I don't eat meat, but about 4 days a week I have to eat meat at least once per day ( because of nutrients ). So I never be a vegan, but it's fine for me, I grew up between animals and I saw how to killed my grandfathere the pig, my grandma the chickens, so I try to get my meat from those farms, which are similar to my grandparents farms ( the animals are free, but you know the end ). That is what I can do.
Why isn't Jonathan Safran Foer getting any credit on any of these junket avenues? I'm totally shocked! Read this book years ago. Its why I'm veg. Thanks Foer.
I think people are going in the wrong direction trying to find vegan food that taste like meat and diary. Most are not that healthy and aren't going to taste like animal food. The impossible burger may come close, but it is not that healthy. A whole food plant based diet is the healthiest. Your taste buds will change and you will be craving foods that you never thought you would especially when you know you are not harming animals our your health. I have been eating a no animal diet since 88.
doable... i just hope that vegan products can be cheaper... they are costly tbh. i mean, i understand why it's still costly now, but really really hope it can be cheaper someday (soon).
I think you are referring to the vegan meats etc. Tbh I kind of think why bother with those, they will never taste as good as a legit beef burger, so I opt to just enjoy all the amazing real food and just leave out meat and dairy. Being vegan for me actually began with my desire to save money as a student. Meat and dairy are so expensive. Try cutting it out for even one day a week; challenge yourself to make a vego curry or pasta dish (the chickpea pasta that has come out recently is really good and a great source of protein). When you feel comfortable and have some more meals in your repertoire, meal prep vegan or challenge yourself to two days. No one is saying go completely vegan (obviously ideal but we are human) but even eating vegan once a week is better than nothing. This is a lifestyle change and a journey in and of itself, so don't go super radical because you may end up resenting it, just take your time, educate yourself on the industries and you will find yourself slowly getting there. Good luck X
It seems like the interviewer pushes her ideas more than Natalie herself. Non-vegan interviewers have more respect to listen to Natalie and not putting their remarks here and there ))

News flash, you can be both. I am whole food plant based but the word vegan is just easier. I see your point, I mean technically Oreos are vegan but we really don't have to categorize in a hostile tone. Whole food plant based is not ONLY about health, I do it also for ethical reason, which is why I also use the word vegan. My food is not "plant based" in that it has "some meat"...no, it has NO meat, which would put me in a vegan category of whole food plant based, that just seems like a lot to say at once.

That's awesome! What is keeping you from taking chickens off your plate? Since we don't need to eat animals to be healthy, is it morally justifiable to keep killing them anyway? If you can’t even watch the video, how can you pay for this to happen to other feeling beings? ruclips.net/video/ju7-n7wygP0/видео.html
James Purcell because he likes chicken and humans eat for pleasure not just based on need. Instead of being judgemental how about offering some sufficient alternatives. Not everyone is going to go vegan under the same circumstances
Find seitan...it will satisfy your need for chicken. Also there are chicken nuggets, chicken patties, ect for when you wanted breaded chicken. It is so easy to let go of chicken.
you are what you eat? i do feel a bit odd every time i eat meat. you might not notice it- if you eat it all the time, but try eating salad all summer and then have a a lot of meat; then i can really notice it. it feels almost like mild drunkenness without hangover intoxication. today i had a craving for strawberry milkshake..and even though didn't have one, i would have drank it with or without mucus. if i go vegan, maybe i'm scared i might turn into a complete vegetable.

@@Verbsdescribeus hah, I cant really remember making this comment, I was sure I ended up talking about my homemade cheeseburgers, which are better than, I'm not even going to mention the name, because they put something in even the hot chocolate, which causes stomach cramps for upto 3 weeks. But yeah, mine are better than the luke warm squished gone in 3 bites burgers fro you know who. Poor quality mashed with poisonous additives? No thanks. Doesn't really surprise me, considering we all live in secondbest at everythingland. I recently attempted to watch download festival 22 and...omg, what a load of cobblers, those folks are kidding themselves on. but if you was offered oodles of cash for the dior contract, especially in this financial crisis? I'm sure all previous opinions and beliefs would vanish out the window? I'm rarely wrong and yeah, humans all lie to win an argument. It's probably this exact character flaw which results in almost all the problems in this world. Human have got to learn to admit when they're telling white lies. One white lie leads to another white lie, another white lie, another white. Ok, so I like both these girls (love Natalie) but I'm sorry I really want these two to sit down with Joe Rogan (and Cam Hanes, what the heck, why not) to really get woke tf up. There's an abundance of most animals on this planet, including an abundance of all the main animals that we see in the grocery store. In fact, in some places wild pigs, deer, turkeys, et al are overrunning the ecosystems. And that's what they're here for. Every creature - including us, human beings - go through the circle of life. Life breeds life. That's how this planet works. A cheetah preys on a gazelle. Cheetahs grow, they breed, and one day that cheetah dies and it's carcass gets eaten by a vulture which in turn is caught and eaten by a lion. To ignore the fact that animals go through the same life cycle we do, that they are predators as well as prey, is naivety pure and simple. I'm all for natural foods, non-gmo, full organic, etc but to go vegan because you don't want to be a part of killing animals is so absurd it hurts my brain. If you think about all the small plant or soil based animals, the caterpillars and worms, that just get chewed up by the combines that go through and clip down the corn stalks, the grain, etc that are produced on farms for vegetarians... animals die in that process too! Don't act like by being vegan you aren't complicit in the death of animals! It makes me sick. Have an egg, too. Chickens produce eggs and if they aren't eaten they go to waste. Eat them! You're not hurting anyone.
So if we stop eat cows and milk, there will be no more cow keepers and cows will extinct? Like bees keepers keep alive bees, more the bees keepers more the bees more plants and fruits ?
Was it hard for both of you to change once you got the information regarding factory farming? If you both think that not eating meat once a week will end factory farming and those small farms will be able to keep up with demand of meat, dairy and eggs that will continue, then not only is the movie not being honest about this destructive human behavior neither are you both. This seems to be an attempt to put a bandaid over a deadly wound.
Karin Wentworth-Ping in a society where most everyone does and eats however they want, in order for people to consider veganism they must feel like it's as free as anything else. It's easier to lead people into a closed space if they see there's an exit

Veganism is not just a diet, it is a way of life that is predicated on compassion, empathy, consciousness and respect for all that is living. We are all animals, sharing the same soul connection, no matter the villosity of skin. Tears have the same meaning in any language. We must awaken to the indivisible truth to usher in the awakening. There is no "humane" way to murder a sentient being. There is no excuse for murder. None. - Director, CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can't Speak www.cryoftheinnocent.com "All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. All love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?” - Buddha
I'm sorry but personally as a vegan I find this interview is annoying. They both do not hold a strong enough belief or have any conviction in their beliefs or morals. Really comes across as wishy washy and just a bit too nicey nicey. Where's the passion? People need to wake up. Have a strong opinion!
i love Natalie and what she is doing. but arent vegans supposed to be completely against killing altogether. no matter how 'humane' it might be. Its completely unnecessary in this day and age so im very confused when she says 'the good farmers who are doing it right'
I went vegan a couple weeks ago but I still had yogurt and butter and cream cheese left in my fridge. I didn't want to throw it out so I finished it all and now I'm totally vegan. I hate when vegans criticize vegetarians or meat-reducers because they are discouraging positive lifestyle changes and its detrimental to the movement. Meat reduction is the ultimate goal imo
Read the Bible; God’s initial plan was that mankind be Vegan. In the Book of Genesis God tells Adam to eat the fruit of the trees, and crops, seeds, vegetables. This was how mankind lived up until the Great Flood. And during that time there was no mention of diseases in the Bible and people lived up to 900 years of age 😌😌😌😌😌
I love Natalie, but she’s not the most convincing spokesperson. In a different interview, she kinda made it sound like converting to veganism can be really hard, when it’s actually super easy! She needs a little practice in the sales department, lol. Guys, going vegan is the most liberating thing you’ll ever experience! Do it for your health, the planet, the suffering animal, and your kids’ future...
raysofgreys I found it hard. Not getting rid of meat but shopping was harder. Finding good sources of produce I had to find nee grocery stores. And eating vegan is harder if you're allergic to nuts or have a gluten sensitivity.
Speak for yourself, but for me going vegan is really difficult. Going to dinner at a friends house, letting cheese go (I love cheese, even though I know it's discusting) and milk chocolate. I'm glad it was easy for you, but thats not everyones experience 😊 I'm glad Natalie Portman talks about it being difficult, makes me feel less like a failure for not changing overnight.
PLANT DIET is good; I do this now. However, 'plant diet' is not the same as "vegan." Vegan is a lifestyle. Core belief system is that "ALL life is the SAME." (i.e., insects, animals and humans). This means that, for example, there is no difference between crushing an ant and murdering a human being. As well 'environmentalism' is a wiccan (demonic) belief, the Worship of the earth as a living, breathing entity, something to be 'saved.' Christian doctrine teaches that man has dominion over the earth and all life within; the "Cultural Mandate" to care for, but NOT WORSHIP, it. The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, our Creator is the ONLY ONE to be WORSHIPPED. A verse in Proverbs says 'take care of your animal.' John 3.3, 33-34.

There are so many vegan-friendly options for "indulgent" foods! Type in recipes with "vegan" afterwards and there is most likely a ton of choices! Nice cream is always a winner in my opinion:)
Just eat the real thing instead of food grown in a lab.
And the benefits of all this is good health and a clear conscience.
good interview. i'm glad she let everyone know about the pus in milk
after hearing her say about the pus, it's all i can think of when i see / drink milk / dairy...
yep, me too....gross!
Every time I hear that fact uttered, I dry heave.😬 So gross.
Well... women breast milk also has pus in it. Except the pus from animals are completely inert to us, so not an issue at all. Milk from woman or animal (humans are animals as well) are healthy to their offsprings and all humans needed milk to grow into adulthood and it contains everything needed to grow animal (human) bodies.
Why is "pus" in milk bad for us? That is like saying "bacteria" is bad for us too, when in fact it is good.
excited to see this documentary!
Natalie is so beautiful and smart ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤❤
I learned a lot from the book Eating Animals. I am vegan, but I choose not to see the movie. Factory farming is disgusting, but I don’t think that there is a right way to kill animals. The so-called “right way” to feed and butcher animals is not sustainable. But if we use those grains to feed hungry people, we would not have people starving.
And yes efforts towards veganism is a step in the right direction, but it justifies the unethical behavior the rest of the time.
For instance, meatless Mondays, lets one not focus on the atrocities that happened Tuesday through Sunday. They’re still there.
SHe is a fraud! Cool video break. Watching this during my intermission of making my sis scallion cashew cheese, stuffed Bell and jalapeno peppers for her birthday today. Soooo good.😁🤗❤

Best start to an interview 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I went pescatarian and then vegetarian for about 2 months before going vegan, I thought it was a nice gradual transition because I will miss what I eat. Thinking back now I wish I just jumped straight to being vegan, those 2 months was just a waste of time. Anyway if you are scared of turning vegan, its natural to be scared of it because its not something you are used to, but its not really that scary once you are doing it!
Dangling😍
I watched earthlings and I can’t take those images out of my head... I watched it two weeks ago and I haven’t had meat. I still eat cheese but thanks to the comment about “mucus”, I don’t think I will be able to eat cheese again.
Erika Montalvo best decision you’ll ever make my friend :)
Eating animals is not some "choice" it is necessary for the human body. Those who refuse to eat meat or milk will end up worse for it.
George Orwell Oh wow that was not what I was trying to say.. Eating animal products definitely is something you should at least reduce. I think not only the human body will thank you
Why should you reduce it?
So looking forward to watching this!!
I like this. Encourage progress. But I still think that once you start moving into the vegan headspace it's hard to get back to where you started.
Totally agree, I'm not a fan of Portman's approach.
I understand the movie’s approach in explaining that it’s about doing the best you can. Of course, I’m sure Natalie Portman would love everyone to go vegan, but she would come off as judgmental and pushing her views on people if that’s the way she talked about it.

It'll be a poor and short-lived life for you then.
Two of my favorites
This is awesome. Thank you Nikki & Natalie! PLANT POWER! #VEGAN (Huge Star Wars fan too!)
I love her white lace dress!!!! So want!!
Bravo Natalie 👌

This is not being vegan. Vegan is respecting the life of another being. To say that if you do it the "right" way, you can go back to eating meat is preposterous. This is a horrible message. She is promoting carnism and not veganism. Just horrible.
Richard Dixon just speaking the truth. People like you can't handle the truth. Glad you can show all of us how ignorant people can be.
wowsa she is so pretty!!!
She is also rich and can afford a private chef, expensive foods, so she can probably delay the negative health impacts of a vegan diet, but most vegans who are not rich will show bad health even within a few months.
Nice shoe dangling at the end.
Amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Great interview
'once a week is enough...' you wouldnt say that about any other injustice
Totally agree, there's a very mixed message here.
Two impressive women with gorgeous legs. 😍🥰
You can't say you love animals and eat animal products without being a hypocrite. Oh and bababooey!
I just subscribed to your channel
I am glad for the uptick in conscious filmmaking but it seems a little lightweight in message with respect to animals and their right to fully live their lives free from human control.
VAJRAMINDMICHELE I think that's the idea. Not everyone subscribes to that belief system so this is for people who aren't convinced by that logic.
It's pandering to flexitarians, and not focusing on animals. Disappointing really.
It's a total fallacy that veganism is expensive. I am not a celebrity and live really cheap on a vegan diet.
beans, rice and pasta are some of the cheapest foods you can buy! and they are all vegan :)
"most vegans have a 'better than you' attitude"
Supposing you lived 200 years ago, during the time of slavery, and supposing most abolitionists had a "better than you" attitude, would you find that a justification for continuing to support slavery?
The good news is that you can become a better person too, nobody's stopping you. So stop making up excuses. The other good news is that the healthiest vegan diet, a whole foods plant based diet, is also the cheapest.
Oh, good, I wanted to watch it, but was bit delaying, because I thought of scary pictures there, which I know anyways we need to see, but still it's relief to know this film is different, I can watch it today without preparing myself.
2 types of people here Vegans and Wikifeet users lol haha
yep, and shoeplsy lovers
Unfortunately not everyone can eat vegan/vegetarian... For anyone who has anemia and needs meat for the iron that is easily absorbed or anyone who has food allergies/intolerances (which are increasing amongst the population and are mostly vegetable-based with corn, soy, and wheat being three of the top allergens), a vegan diet is not necessarily feasible. We need to change the way we treat animals, make the industry more environmentally-sustainable, and start to rely on lab-grown meats that will be available soon. But the fact is, as a polluter and driver of climate change, factory farming is still small potatoes in comparison to coal, oil, and gas, which make up the majority of the companies that drive the destructive climate change phenomenon and that is where our efforts to make change will have the most impact overall-->
"Just 100 companies have been the source of more than 70% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions since 1988....a relatively small set of fossil fuel producers may hold the key to systemic change on carbon emissions....more than half of global industrial emissions since 1988 - the year the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was established - can be traced to just 25 corporate and state-owned entities. This is likely to have catastrophic consequences including substantial species extinction and global food scarcity risks."
www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2017/jul/10/100-fossil-fuel-companies-investors-responsible-71-global-emissions-cdp-study-climate-change
And the truth is we will not be able to effectively combat climate change if we continue to rely on a capitalistic system with all its waste, exploitation, and inefficiencies that result in increased profits for a few while most people, animals, and ecosystems suffer. Capitalism is the main driver of SO many of the problems we have before us and if we can transition out of it, a lot of those disastrous problems would cease or be minimized greatly. We need a new system that has environmental sustainability as an operational process, something that is built right into the way the system itself functions---here is an outline of such a system, please watch this important video to learn moe-->

Whole Foods sells Impossible burger. I think it was $6.99 for two patties.
Do you mean the Beyond Burger? Impossible Burger is only in restaurants, not in stores, at the moment
Vegan For The Animals Ⓥ Thanks for correcting me. It's Beyond Burger. 😃
But if you don't eat your meat you won't get any pudding. HOW CAN YOU GET ANY PUDDING IF YOU DON'T EAT YOUR MEAT???
Have you tried raw meat raw milk?
George Orwell Do you like stupid questions?
Why isn't Jonathan Safran Foer getting any credit on any of these junket avenues? I'm totally shocked! Read this book years ago. Its why I'm veg. Thanks Foer.
I think people are going in the wrong direction trying to find vegan food that taste like meat and diary. Most are not that healthy and aren't going to taste like animal food.
The impossible burger may come close, but it is not that healthy. A whole food plant based diet is the healthiest. Your taste buds will change and you will be craving foods
that you never thought you would especially when you know you are not harming animals our your health. I have been eating a no animal diet since 88.
doable... i just hope that vegan products can be cheaper... they are costly tbh. i mean, i understand why it's still costly now, but really really hope it can be cheaper someday (soon).
rice, potatoes, bananas, beans are the cheapest foods though.
Damian Stoy exactly! Staples for us are oatmeal, bananas, potatoes, rice, and pasta :) all super affordable!
rice, beans, potatoes, oats, frozen fruit, frozen veggies, canned veggies. All so cheap
Yep, no need for "products" just eat food :)
Good luck X
She is not advocating for animals she is advocating for the farmers
It seems like the interviewer pushes her ideas more than Natalie herself. Non-vegan interviewers have more respect to listen to Natalie and not putting their remarks here and there ))

Ok, these women are plant based not vegan.
I am confused, what is your difference in plant based versus vegan?
News flash, you can be both. I am whole food plant based but the word vegan is just easier. I see your point, I mean technically Oreos are vegan but we really don't have to categorize in a hostile tone. Whole food plant based is not ONLY about health, I do it also for ethical reason, which is why I also use the word vegan. My food is not "plant based" in that it has "some meat"...no, it has NO meat, which would put me in a vegan category of whole food plant based, that just seems like a lot to say at once.
Veganism encompasses more than just a diet.

But yeah, mine are better than the luke warm squished gone in 3 bites burgers fro you know who. Poor quality mashed with poisonous additives? No thanks. One white lie leads to another white lie, another white lie, another white. It has got to be the worst song ever recorded and they're still regarded as the best band ever...not on my ⌚ but yeah, have a good summer

None. - Director, CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can't Speak www.cryoftheinnocent.com

Your the greats chick around
I went vegan a couple weeks ago but I still had yogurt and butter and cream cheese left in my fridge. I didn't want to throw it out so I finished it all and now I'm totally vegan. I hate when vegans criticize vegetarians or meat-reducers because they are discouraging positive lifestyle changes and its detrimental to the movement. Meat reduction is the ultimate goal imo
Same I'm finishing what Im having in the fridge and becoming vegan. Problem is my family they don't even want to hear
What about the animals???they don’t matter? They don’t feel pain??
'I am living a less fun life'....weird to hear some vegans miss meat and dairy.
Elk and antelope eat vegan so I eat vegan too
Nikki is a vegan? I lover her even more!
I'm glad it was easy for you, but thats not everyones experience 😊
I'm glad Natalie Portman talks about it being difficult, makes me feel less like a failure for not changing overnight.
I only watched this cause Portman is so hot!
Wtf
I disagree on that it is his opinion.
I don't agree with some of the things the lady on the left said.
