Great video Andrew, very informative I'm going to trade in my 77d for the R7 soon. I tested it at ODP in Pretoria a week ago and love the camera! Would love the RF100-500mm lens but at this point in time sadly cannot afford the 100-500mm lens. I'm based in South Africa so I shoot a lot of wildlife as well as birds. And I occasionally shoot aviation as well. I do own the Tamron 150-600mm G2, which I used a lot on my 77d. So I have 3 options it seems... Keep the Tamron 150-600mm and pair it with the R7 Sell the Tamron 150-600 G2 and try and get a second hand EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM in good nick Sell the Tamron 150-600G2 and buy the RF100-400 f5.6-8 IS USM I'd love to get your input on which combo would you recommend?

Nice video. Great pics! Just to share that this lens do not pair up as well with the R7. I was disappointed as the pics were very soft especially for animal eyes. For the kit lens, the R7 perform better. So unless i am having a bad copy of the RF100-400 lens, i dont recommend pairing this lens to R7. Happy snapping! Cheers!
why do you think it doesn't pair up well with the r7? Since I am thinking of buying the r10 and those two bodies are somewhat similar that's why asking.
@@anirbanchatterjee4585 as mentioned in my post, images are very soft esp for animal eyes. I am shooting mainly birds so that is a no no for me. However, when using kit lens, images are pretty sharp. So thats why i tink the 100-400 does not pair well with R7.
I'm currently using the Canon R5 and the Canon 90d. I just pre-ordered the Canon R7 and I'm waiting for it because it is back ordered at the moment. Right now unfortunately I'm using the sigma 150 to 600 contemporary and it is a piece of a lens but it does not have the support on mirrorless cameras that I would like. I'm losing more shots than I want. Because I just wish the mirrorless last year I have all EF glass. So it's going to take me about $20,000 to replace all my lenses eventually to the RF mount. Until then I'm just using my EF adapter with all the F 2.8 L Series glass that I have. My biggest concern was I have not purchased the EF 100 to 400 because I just got in the wildlife 6 months ago and that was going to be my next purchase because I have the Canon 1.4 and the Canon two times adapters already. But I have them in the EF Mount not the RF yet. So my thinking was if I can get the EF 100 to 400 I can use my adapters. But to be honest after thinking about it it would probably be cheaper to get this lens and the R7 than to get the 100 to 500 RF lens. My biggest biggest biggest biggest question is how does this lens stack up to the EF 100 to 400 version 2? Unfortunately, there's not one video on RUclips that shows that. I just started this video and I hope it does. But I would like to ask you. Because you had the 100 to 400 version2.. would you recommend I get that lens or just get the R7 with this lens
Okay, the simple answer is yes, the EF 100-400 MK 2 works very well with the adapter and the R7. I am doing a basic review of teh R7 with my important thoughts. I have to spend time to compile that portfolio with teh equipment to really test the R7. Not that the use of extenders on any camera will not be the same. The lens works well with a 1.4x extender (Canon MK III) but will be slow and not pin sharp with a 2x extender. The RF 100-500 is a better lens as it is designed for the RF system from a technical point of view and will perform better. How much will depend on you and how you perceive the quality. I shoot with what I have an duse it to the maximum. At the end of the day your final use of teh images will matter. If its for prints and commercial work, then the RF is a must. FOr a recreational and small prints/social media you will be fine with EF 100-400 MK II. You need to also use software to improve quality and that is very easy nowadays. Ihope that helps you !

I just got this lens and there is an internal element that moves around. Does anyone else have this issue?
I would suggest contacting the supplier and or Canon to check if there is an issue.
It moves only when the camera is off, right? Thats normal
