A good honest talk about what we are doing in training. I did used to think I was training Aikido for self-defense and to become a badass martial artist. But realised I really couldn't do anything in a real-life situation. I was bummed about it for like a year.
Fantastic discussion would love to hear more among these lines. Very common sense too. I have somewhat of a boxing background and I regularly spar full contact of course with headgear but at a low level. I'm not a tough guy by any means. And I understand how boxing works and I understand why it's practical as a martial art. I understand that but for some reason for years I have been drawn to Aikido even with all of the detractors and the people shaming it.
