The point of EV's was to save the climate, not protect US automakers.
The point of them was to make money.
If the point of EV's is to save the planet and the byproduct is to wipe out the US auto industry, maybe that should be discussed with the public with more clarity. This is a forced transition, not market driven. So the government is paying people to put the US auto industry out of business and raise everyone's cost of literally everything as everything is transported. I don't really care what powers my car, but this multi trillion dollar plan is not well thought out.

The equinox is not profitable yet, GM loses money on every car sold. I would not buy GM stock for another year or two. Remember this is CNBC advocating foe GM.

No one. The US basically greenlit the all in Chinese EV market. They saw the opportunity to take over the worlds transportation and energy market. And they are doing very well. The US is getting played.

Wow yes really huge registration numbers by BYD in Europe this year so far. Automotive News Europe based on Dataforce numbers is reporting 10,147 BYD registrations Jan-Apr... wow. Tesla deliveries are flat lining this year so far - overall Tesla sales are down about by 5% this year in Europe (Jan-Apr 100k). Overall leading car sales in Europe is VW group with 1.1M sales (Jan-Apr).
Brand issue, glad it's clear now. Somewhat delighted that consumers leave Musk for a little while. Competition is on ! Tesla share will go down to less than 25% in a rapid fashion.

They already have a Model Y with the $7.5k rebate at the point of sale, less than a high-end Honda CR-V, with much better technology and a vehicle that will improve its functions over time through over-the-air updates. For example, one can buy a 2017 Tesla with HW3 and have the same functionality as a new Tesla with HW4.
Jensen delivers result, Elon delivers religion, hype, dream and promises. Elon created an EV industry, that is his legacy; unfortunately Elon is going to lose his EV sales, Tesla products has been boring and no new products since 2017. It needs to send his engineering team to China to learn the true hard-core engineering, Chinese top rivals refresh their products every 2 to 3 years. FSD is not better than Huawei, Xpeng autonomous driving, I said it from my personal experience.
