This is amazing ! I am so glad you showed your challenges to "DIY" it in the beginning. (Also shows you have very patient families) I can see how this would be so amazing especially in a home where you walk in and it has those towering ceilings... and oh so much more.
So glad you trialed the first printer. i have done large billboards for years - the 20x 60 ft ones and the drums Are huge but keep details perfect. not ink= paint 65b dpi and better as n needed. that was > 25 yrs ago all rthe innovations are endless/ like on glass thin aluminum etc.
does it print on 8.5x11 plain white paper? Because I have yet to find a printer that can handle that medium for more than a month before something goes wrong....
Laser printers are better for occasional printing: the toner is basically iron filings coated with wax. The problem is that occasional prints don't really justify the cost of a laser printer.
Is there any compatible ink or paint that could be used (and clearcoated?) for flat sided vehicles, such as step vans or box trucks? This could be a really big deal in that market.
The ink this uses has a seven year rating so it’s actually used pretty commonly outdoors. Clear coating it will definitely add to its lifespan so it’s ready to print on vehicles already!
Years ago there was a 'Sprayprinter" kickstarter that I almost backed. It used position tracking like VR inside out headsets do and attached to a basic spraypaint can to turn it into almost a handheld dot-matrix printer you can use on your wall. Every time you moved it over where the image needed paint it would depress the trigger putting a dot of paint in that location. Pretty sure the kickstarter and the project died, but it was a neat idea. Much more user friendly than this r4-d4 looking thing.
Bro this was so informative I am seriously considering starting a business based on wall printing ...would love to ask some questions....can the printer be used on aluminum or steel?
It's pretty wild, right? It can and does print on both aluminum and steel, yes. Since releasing this video we have become the North America Sales Partner for the wallPen so let's connect. You can learn a lot more at surfacepix.com and get our contact info there too.
@LRN2DIY would it be possible to send you blank surfaces to print on, then I would test it on the market in terms of viability and profitability. I'm overseas in Jamaica.
How could you afford the German made WallPen--aren't they significantly costly? Website states under $60,000, which would seem to indicate a substantial capital investment.
After doing some fairly exhaustive research over the past couple of days, I'm not seeing $60k of value here. I really, really want to, but I don't. Even their main competitor is $25k less and ink is half the cost. And their resolution is waaaay better. This is a $10-12k (ish) setup. Print head is $500. Aluminum 8020 stuff, wheels, servos/robot thingies, tablet, etc are all maybe $4-5k? I just don't see $60k. I'm sure it can be profitable and I wish everyone immense success, but this is simply highway robbery. You can buy 3 brand new Nissan Versas for that amount of money. Insane. $50k markup for some programming, tech support, and a short warranty? I mean, that's just bonkers.
@@KINTOSOL007 ahh yeah. Haha most of us probably don't need that. I can't find someone who gives prices on the internet for what they would charge to come print something for us. But my guess is, it's probably not cheap.
You state that it solved the issues of textured walls and resolution, but clearly you have no idea what you are talking about or you are trying to deceive your viewers. 1. Most modern commercial and industrial large format printers have an output resolution up to 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi. The issue is the resolution of the image you wish to print. If it is 300 dpi x 300 dpi at 12” x 12” and you scale it up to 36” x 36”, your resolution will only be 100 dpi x 100 dpi no matter what printer you use. 2. The ink that is jetted by that printer will not flatten out wall texture, so that is still an issue. 3. You will have to prime and repaint the wall to get rid of the mural that you direct-print, so it doesn’t eliminate that issue either. Thanks for the misleading video.
This is cool but kind of sucks if you decide to move and the buyers don't like the giant portrait of Mephistopheles that you have in your bedroom. I think I'll stick to ordering prints on canvas and aluminum so I can take them with me
What the heck is your tie to Germany? Wife? And if not Germany, Europe? Several vids have mentioned Germany or Europe now and I hadn’t ever seen that. I feel ya there. All printers can be a challenge but getting a regular home printer to work is one of the things I hate most.

I was shocked that the Chinese one printed anything with all that wobbling and swinging!
That's one cool technology.

I'm impressed. Well done 👏 👏 👏
8:54 we did not realize that German engineering is better than what you will receive from Chinese Alibaba?....
Now you know....
What happens if the print doesn't come out right or the customer doesn't like it for whatever reason? Can you prime and paint over the wall print?
Yep. Just paint and start over.
Hey cool! I’m glad you made this. I totally wasn’t understanding what you were explaining to me.
first red flag- alibaba
agree
Exactly what I thought. I never have, and never will, buy from alibaba or Temu.
When the company names itself for a famous thief, you cannot be surprised when they rip you off.

Yes, but good of them to work this up to show us.

How much does the machine cost?
Amazing.
How does this do 300+ dpi with all the wiggling around?

It does! It’s actually rated for 7+ years outside in the elements and is commonly used to print outdoors.

Can it do cathedral ceilings?
For that you need the ceiling pen. lol
just joking.
Wow that's awesome ! Can it copy a painting that my Grandmother did ?
Yes
50k for the wallpen? yikes, no wonder a bunch of you went in on it together
still should be stabilized to the ceiling - the torque sway is big.
Ok $0.00 how much
Somewhere around 60k US I think. It's a closely guarded secret it seems. I know several artists who would paint that picture for a lot less lol.

Not really. This is only fifteen minutes long. Most infomercials are a half hour. So this is "ackchyually" a mini infomercial.

The AliBaba one was poorly executed. Then they bought the German-made WallPen which exceeded all their hopes.
