  • What connects television broadcasting with the Himalayas? Where’s the connection between the world’s highest peak and an autobahn? What do autobahns and sharks have in common? And how could a shark be linked with cannibalism?
The Himalayas, home to some of the world's highest peaks, are facing unprecedented challenges due to climate change. Rising temperatures in the region are causing the accelerated melting of glaciers, posing significant threats to the delicate ecological balance and the millions of people who depend on these glaciers for water resources. The increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as floods and landslides, are becoming more prevalent, exacerbating the vulnerability of the region. The Himalayas serve as a critical water source for numerous rivers that sustain livelihoods across South Asia, making the repercussions of climate change in this region felt far beyond its immediate borders.
The knowledge format "Missing Link" highlights a wealth of facts from nature, life and technology - from amphibians to outer space, from large machines to genetic engineering. In each documentary, five objects from the most diverse areas of our universe are taken one after the other under the magnifying glass of knowledge, in order to then uncover the hidden connections between them by means of high-quality, humorous animation pieces. The connections are enigmatic and surprising; only in retrospect do they appear startlingly clear.
