I think these 5 are the best composition of the Kings. They all sound so well together and always look like they're having good fun and you can just tell they're all very close. Love them
Being from the South, I've heard this song more than a few times. This is among the best performances I've heard of this song. You simply can't go wrong with the King's Singers and a Philip Lawson arrangement.

Rowan Atkinson (the actor who played Mr Bean) does actually sing sometimes for comedy shows. Usually parodies of something. If you look up 'Rowan Atkinson singing' on RUclips you can find some clips of him singing. He doesn't have such a deep voice though :).
that was very good, its amazing how so much sound and energy and life can come from just 6 men when our choir of about 45 made up of both men and women cannot reproduce it to sound like yours. it is truelly amazing!
Morgan Wright I started when I was 14. Even if your voice has developed, you can still get it. Focus on your falsetto, or head voice, and practice blending your normal singing voice with your head voice. My natural singing voice is mid to low tenor, but if you work your way up you can hit all kinds of notes. I wish you luck! Practice often, and drink tons of water.
I'm a bass singer and I absolutely love the bass on this song idk who he is but he is absolutely amazing I mean the rest r great too but where I'm a bass his talent is so easy for me to understand
@@skepticalsinik2412 You're right, they are fake. any bluegrass you recommend? Some actual actors that have bluegrass bands are Steve Martin and John C. Reilly.
@@LukusCannon I knew about Steve Martin. Plays a pretty good banjo! Didn't know about Reilly... huh! Recommend? Oh, jeez. Where to begin! Depends on what you like. I like the old stuff. The Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Bill Monroe, etc. But that's not for everyone. The wife likes newer, more mainstream stuff like Old Crow Medicine Show. Can't go wrong with Ricky Skaggs, or Doc Watson. A bit more mainstream (as far as Bluegrass goes). Doc, who was blind, was one of the most talented musicians I've ever heard.
No offence to the "new" countertenors of the group, but David Hurley is just MILES away in intonation and quality. It's absolutely unreal how good he is.
Good thing you said that. I personally sing, and I always try to get that "in depth" feeling, capturing the song. I'm glad you brought that up. Thumbs up!
I've been a fan of this group since almost forever. There are now different singers than what were there, bu they still are fantastic! The counter-tenor (high voice) is stupendous!!
I've heard them in spring 1980 in Budapest at Academy of Music. Unforgettable! Jannequin La battaille de Marignan, Patterson: Time piece, Rossini The Barber of Seville overture... After the official program they gave some extras. After them we didn't finish applausing. They came back to the stage in every 5 minutes, more and more tired, without giving more extras. At the end, after more 45 minutes, they came back without their dress suites, wearing suspenders... and they sang one more song for that 100 people who were standing in front of the stage and didn't stop clapping their hands and waiting for them until almost midnight. Nigel Perrin, Alastair Hume, Alastair Thompson, Anthony Holt, Simon Carrington, Brian Kay. I still have signatures all of them on the booklet of concertprogram. That was the greatest group for ever. THEY WERE The King's Singers. Unforgettable for ever! This new group? They sing false. Nothing extraordinary. One can forget in 5 minutes. Sorry.
I still remember that this was the very first KS song that I heard, and I nearly jizzed my pants at how beautiful the countertenor part in this song is. Thank you, for you have changed my life :)

I became a huge fan of the King's Singers in the mid '80's and love the guys in the original group. However, I think they are even better now than they were then. Don't know why some want to be critical of one of the most outstanding vocal groups in the world.
mgangster123 , you are so right. Here at home, my mother asked utter surprised "since when can mr. Bean sing that beautyfull?" It took a while to recover from laughing before I could anwer her.
exactly what i was thinking! i think it's just because there isn't really anyone counting them off..then by the time they hear everyone else singing its like "oh crap lets slow this down guys"
13 years after my choir teacher showed us this masterpiece I have 10x more appreciation for their talent
I think these 5 are the best composition of the Kings. They all sound so well together and always look like they're having good fun and you can just tell they're all very close. Love them

I see six or am I high
You mean 7 right?
I agree. Second only to the early eighties bunch (in my opinion)
Totally agree, that was the dream team
I can't but admire the formidable countertenor.
Eleonore R. This group has, unusually, two counter tenors.
David Hurley is his name, he's a lovely man.
Yup. His intonation is so accurate. (One of the guys is not so accurate compared with him.)
David Hurley is one of my favourite KS countertenors. Jeremy Jackman was great too
The one, the only, the incomparable David Hurley.
The SAT trio at 0:53 is fantastic. Generally not a big fan of male altos/sopranos but wow those voices compliment each other perfectly
The Lord gives us all unique appearances and voices, and a God-given talent is to be treasured no matter what the package!
God, David Hurley's voice is Amazing. That falsetto is amazing

Thank you
Oh my god I could listen to this all day over and over and never get tired of it! :D
Just proves you have excellent taste.
I love this! They are all amazing but I love the man on the far left and far right! Beautifull!
This is the best rendition of this song that I have ever heard!!! Absolutely fabulous!!! I'm in love right now!!!!
The King's Singers are so perfect that can do a simple little song, a symphony! Simply WONDERFUL!
I LOVE that countertenor! Beautiful!
I love how the cute little tiny guy on the far left has the highest voice. And he gets misty at the end! ^^
Search "ursinhos carinhosos" on youtube
Didn't realise that Mr Bean had such a good deep voice.

@@junbh2 I'm sure that by "Rowan Atkinson" you meant the distinguished british baritone Robert Bennington, didn't you? :)
Tbh this would be a great setting for a Bean skit
There’s also Pipin from lord of the rings !

Listening to this song is what made me proud of my role as a countertenor. We rock.
hey mate, when did you start your training? im in my late teens and want to be a countertenor, but im worried my voice has developed too much

Mezzo soprano here. We’re very proud of our countertenor brothers. :)
You absolutely do!!
i gotta meet them when i was in high school! they are very nice
cant stop hitting replay :)
Thanks you for this goosebumps moment !
I love dis so much; this song is amazing
Wonderful harmony! One of the best.
I'm a bass singer and I absolutely love the bass on this song idk who he is but he is absolutely amazing I mean the rest r great too but where I'm a bass his talent is so easy for me to understand
Stephen Connolly. He was a true Basso Profondo, and Jonathan Howard who replaced him just doesn't have the depth that Connolly had.
This is so good, straight from the heart
Beautiful in sync perfectly
Awesome Performance, gave me a good feeling. Thanks for sharing this. :)
I went down to the river to pray, and in the reflection of the water, god showed me the way to this video
Stunning, Absolutely wonderful!
The opening baritone has such a dreamy voice
Just became an immediate fan after watching this :) Such harmony is rare to find in most groups :- Soothing and Calming :D
i give you five stars boys. Keep up good work in the LORD.
2:03 that "Down" gives me the chills everytime!
Yaaassss
Me too
Who else only knows that song from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?
Ha! Yup.
What, ya'll never heard a the Soggy Bottom Boys?

That's really really pretty! I love the King's Singer; they have really beautiful voices and lovely harmonies.
Yessss, I love when males harmonize! When I was in chorus/choir they were hard to come by! 😍

wonderful
are you kidding me? it's called talent, something you probably do not contain. this is amazing
I'm from East Tennessee, and this song sounds so odd to me with British accents
They have a Norwegian accent
The Beast I take that back they do have a British accent
The Beast They are supposed to have British accent since they are British :D
They are as british as the union jack :D
The alto, tenor, bass harmony is soo good. I loved performing this song when I was in show h
Fantastic.
Well Done

Nice sound! I'm looking forward to seeing them live in concert next week.
I can't hit the notes that shorter man can. How can he do that?
Amazing. Simply stunning.

since when has Mr. Bean sung bass?

Love the bass. He's great.
@mikeyzxc2: yes they do. From left to right: Countertenor, countertenor, tenor, baritone, baritone, bass. This is most of the time their setup.
The English accent is a bit amusing in a piece such as this. However, it really doesn't take away from the beauty of the performance. Love it.
