OH NO, I said to myself when Rod threw the Heuchera plant away. I know you have all of them at your disposal and will plant new ones but I would have saved it. 🙃 P.S. The lake view is beautiful.
A lesson learned: next fall I'm cutting back my hydrangeas with the hedge trimmer. What a time saver and efficient way to accomplish this task. Thanks!
Looks like it was a beautiful day for garden clean up! Thanks for showing us all your hard work. I didn't realize I should be cutting back my hakanechloa, brunnera, and lungwort. Always learning something new!
I don't know.... 🤔 After seeing this video and your home videos, I'm beginning to think Rod gets some serious pleasure out of cutting down the hydrangea! 😆😆 I can't wait to see next spring what you do with the slope on the side of your house. Thanks for bringing us along on your fall cleanup! 🙂

The problem I have with hedge trimmers is that they don't leave a clean cut, leaving the plant more susceptible to disease and pests.
Glad it was helpful!
I have not had an issue with that. But it is best to do it the way that works best for you.

You don't have to trim them, but we do for a cleaner look.

Why do you take all the leaves off? Seems like they would be good for soil improvement.
Doesn't leaving them in the ground hold the dirt back from going over the wall ?
Yes it would hold the dirt, but we do not have an issue with it going over the wall.
I have the ornamental grass little bunny....its so nice right now...does this get sheared back in early spring?
Yes, you can trim it in the spring.
