Medusa is a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. Built by Bolliger & Mabillard, Medusa opened in 2000 as the first floorless roller coaster on the West Coast. The coaster features seven inversions, a 150-foot (46 m)-tall lift hill with a 150-foot (46 m) drop, and the first Sea serpent roll element ever built on a B&M coaster. The ride is the longest coaster in Northern California at 3,937 feet (1,200 m) long and is notable as having one of the largest vertical loops in the world at 128 ft. It also shares the height record in Northern California with another ride in the same park, The Flash: Vertical Velocity, at 150 feet high.
The ride starts with a large left-hand turnaround out of the station and onto the lift hill. At the top is a B&M pre-drop followed by a right turn. After that is the large 150' drop which achieves the same height as the lift hill despite the B&M Pre-Drop by dipping below ground level into a pit. The drop is followed by a 128' vertical loop. Medusa then features a dive loop to the left and a zero-G roll. The ride then enters a Sea-Serpent roll. After a very quick breather during the mid-course brakes, the train whips into a twisting left-hand drop into a flatspin under the brake run. The on-ride photo is taken directly after the first flatspin. The ride then travels through an inclined helix to the left before diving into the second flatspin. The ride's finale is a quick 85 degree banked helix to the right before a quick S-Turn, which creates the sensation that the train will run into one of the lift supports. Then, the ride will either glide into the brake run and travel back toward the station, or may come to a sudden stop if it is operating with three trains and another train is already in the station.

When I go to Six Flax this is the ride I start with. Its pretty fun and not that much of a killer. A classic roller coaster.

Bill Keith Channel they’re very similar! They’re made by the same manufacturer and are the same type of coaster (a floorless coaster is what they call it) :)
All the people on the comments are saying that this is one of the best roller coaster’s, but then there is me who holds on for dear life on Medusa.
Rode it dozen of times. Very awesome coaster but it could use a decent paint job at least

@@sxmplybutera5444 probably too late to warn you on this, but yes it does. What I felt the first time riding it is during the drop your stomach drops and you can’t breathe. The first loop after that my vision went a little blurred (kept my eyes open) but other than those 2 things, the ride is really fun!

Jeez, this coaster needs a good ol’ paint job!
I went on this back in 2014, and despite the tracks looking a bit worn it was running smooth as glass. The only complaints I have are the lack of theming (though I've never really cared that much about theming) and the restraints, but even then the restraints are not that bad. Basically, it's a great ride, it just needs a bit of a paint job and maybe some theming.
She was last painted in 2007, so she's due for a new Paint Job.
At the start it looks like a nice little baby ride until it reached the lift hill

This is one of my all time favorite rollercoasters at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!! Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is my local Six Flags park!

That's Six Flags for ya. These days they see an open spot and say "stick it there". The art of theming has gotten lost to Six Flags. Now they're nothing more than giant amusement parks with little character.

Austin White lol Good thing I didn’t ride the front and only the back instead! I just rode fury325 @Carowinds over this past weekend!! On Friday 11/15/2019 it rained that day! I rode the back about 8x’s in the rain and it was painful!! I did have my rain gear on so I never got wet except for my head and face! Still it was fun though and it was fast due to the track being wet from the rain! So it felt like going 98mph instead of 95mph on a dry day. I rode it a few more times till they shut it down for mechanical issues. Saturday it was down due to cold windy weather. Sunday was much better and I rode it about 34x’s(only coaster I rode all day 😂). It was the last weekend of big coasters due to “ upcoming “Winterfest”

It didn’t used to be ghetto looking. It’s just what’s happened over the years. I used to live in Vallejo with this in my backyard practically. It could use a repaint but it’s not a bad ride for over 15 years in service.
Well, in Greek mythology Medusa wasn't much of a looker either. In fact, according to legend, she was so ugly that anyone who looked her in the face automatically turned to stone. It's a perfect fit.

I feel like Medusa should temporarily close only to repaint this as the same color.. The colors are fading away, which I noticed a lot while riding this. I STILL LOVE Medusa.. just.. yeah.

Hmmm I would probably say my favorite would be Superman at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, with Hydra at Dorney Park coming in at a close second.
I've only ridden one, and that's Batman, currently my favorite coaster of all time so far.
