Do you use the edge tool on the side edge only or do you also file the base edge?? I’ve seen videos doing both and some comments saying not to tune the base edge only the side
Yep, you can get short ones which work on wobbly edges. Our sidecuts are all radial, which give the longest effective edge and a consistent application of grip when weighted, so you can use any edge sharpening tool.
Hello there, I'm new into snowboarding, I can help myself down the mountain in a fair way, my snowboard is new and it's a hybrid rocker, should I dull my contact points a little bit for less chances of catching an edge? Or just go with the factory sharpening for now?
90 degrees is the standard angle for freestyle and all-mountain riding. 88 degrees is a more aggressive angle for people who want max edge grip, like carvers and racers.
Ski shop told me it’s ok to clean that up yourself with stainless steel at home. Be mindful, don’t scrub your board. And keep your board dry between use/storage to avoid more rusting :)
@@NideckerSnowboards my edge tuner has 88 and a 90 degree side. If i were going to use the 90 degree side does it face up or does it face down( towards the base )?
Is the Diamond or gummy stone a necessary piece needed to tune edges..I got an edge tuner but didn’t know I needed a stone till I started checking out videos right now
Board bum pro tip - Just staple a small section of 600 grit wet-sand paper to a jenga block and wet it before you use it. no need for a gummi stone or sharpening stone.
Love your work mate.Loved how easy you did the waxing and tuning edges! Very clear and easy to follow
Yo! Thank you for these meaty and concise videos! Super well designed.
It really is that easy. Carver costly, so I tune after every wax. 4-5 days in between waxes for Sintered bases.
Simple :)
Very easy to understand!

With a two-sided edging tool (90 and 88) is the number facing the board or the number of facing the user the angle being sharpened?
Thanks!!
Do you recommend using a specific edge tool for magnetraction or similar disrupted edges? I know they make one specifically for magnetraction. Thanks!

What do you do once the metal is barely there from too much filing?
Can it be replaced?
When purchasing a used snowboard, how do I know if the edges still have life in them?

Go with the factory sharpening for now. If you're catching an edge at your stage of snowboarding it will likely be down to technique.
@@NideckerSnowboards thank you for the reply
When would you use the 88 vs 90 degree angle on the edge turner tools?

What about the tip if there is a bit of rust?

What type of file do you use?
The one in the video comes from the Dakine tuning kit

@@mauricezenarosa4417 look at it. You can see the narrower angle on the tool side.
Any standard Smooth Mill or Mill Bastard file will work fine.
Hey I was gifted a board from a park rider who detuned the whole edge. Is it sensible to assume I can get the edge back with that tuning tool?
It would be possible... but if it's a heavy detune it would definitely be easier to take it to a shop and get the big tools on it!

Definitely not absolutely necessary, but it certainly helps :)

Am I missing something or is this only for DETUNING ?
Fix up look sharp! dont want to pull the blix out and get dark!
