You have your a good point. I'm going to repolish, so acid wash prior to polishing to remove the road salt is what I recommend.

You don't polish big mouth. Etching is a great beginning method to deoxidize the aluminum. There are different methods. Not just yours. Get out of here you dumb chimpanzee and take your big mouth and bad attitude with you.

Hey truck polisher. How can I polish and what polish should I use to get rid of the streaks. I sprayed a cleaner on my rims and bumper. Looks ruined. I'm hoping I can polish and buff all the streaks out.
The two-step process would have allowed you to wash the whole truck in the time that it took to do to rims on a fuel tank and it would have come out looking just as good

You can just use water and hydrochloric acid too. 20:1. its really good for cleaning parts, a little stronger if your brave
I'm a polisher good job on pitting those wheels acidized is gonna eventually ruin your wheels

do you use it straight out the jug or do you cut it 20-1 ? ive used it cut 20-1 & had no etching effect (turn white )

Hotsy has different strengths of aluminium brightner, what color do you use? Or do you use a different brand?
What does it do to the chrome piece that also has the lights above the tank. Does it hurt the plastic light lens?
Will this be safe to use on a polished aluminum trailer.

Did you spray the frame?
Do you use hot water? what temperature do you use and p s I ? the rims look good.
Warm to hot is good and the solution was applied with a pump up sprayer. You can rinse it off with a garden hose.
