My dad takes it for type 2 diabetes. Just walks 20mons a day. Disnt change diet drastically and went from 100kg to a steady 76kg in 3 mths. Amazing medicine.
Hello! Congratulations for your dad…. Just one question, im going to start to take Rybelsus, can you eat your usual 3 meals? Or the hunger levels are higher that you don’t wanna eat? Thanks in advance….
@ he just didnt feel as hungry and ate whenever he was. At the same food as before, no cut back on the amount of carbs etc. the effect was dramatic to be honest.
I think that people who start taking Rybelsus go through the same symptoms. I had them the first month, weighing 168 pounds. The second month, the symptoms were very few. I have been taking Rybelsus for 4 months and weigh 142 pounds. I rarely feel nauseous. I don't get hungry. I only eat salads with lemon. I eat fish but nothing greasy. I think that's what causes the nausea. It does happen to me once in a while, but I can tolerate it.
I've been on Rybelsus for 3 months, from the 3mg for a month, then the 7mg for another month, and finally 7mg. I lost just over half a stone. In that time, I felt weaker, tired, and became exhausted very quickly, feeling unable to do anything. I lost my appetite. I went back to the doctor who checked my pulse and decided to give me an ECG and discovered i had an irregular heartbeat. The doctor put me on blood thinners because I was at risk of developing a blood clot, which could lead to a stroke. I asked if this could be anything to do with the rybelsus medication and was told there were no reports of any side effects to an irregular heartbeat. However, I decided to look at the manufacturers website and found that an irregular heartbeat was a listed side effect. I decided to stop taking the rybelsus medication and return to my original diabetic medication. Thankfully, with in 36 hours, my heart rhythm returned to normal. I did not feel tired, exhausted, and felt like a new man. My doctor is trying to persuade me to go back on the rybelsus medication.
On the Rybelsus right now just 3mg because at the dokter we cant get Ozempic anymore, im a diabetes 2 patiënt and for me this stuff works wonders finally got my diabetes under control….slowly stopping my Gliclazide medication ( the not good medication with loads off side effects ). The only side effect i have is Some wierd nausia and sometimes dizzy. Atleast i got Some stuff that helps me.
How does the absorption process work when administered orally? As I understand these peptides are considered too big to enter the blood through the intestine or stomach and that is why it needs to be injected? Is this the reason for the high dose of "oral ozempic"?
At present Rybelsus 14mg daily $260/month; Ozempic 1mg once weekly $250/month. So likely not. The technology and need for a daily pill is what will drive up cost.
I just started 2 wks ago on 3mg then after just 6 days the Dr bumped me up to double dose. I’ve been so sick from the past 3 days. I can’t even hold water down. I thought the rule of thumb is take 3 mg for 30 days then go to 7 mg. I feel this Dr is causing me more harm than good. Has anyone had this happen?
I have a question 😢 my appetite INCREASED rather than decreased whilst on Ozempic/ Rybelsus. I have tried both. At 14mg Rybelsus/ 1mg Ozempic. Any understanding as to why? It’s not super drastic but noticeable .
I toyed with combining it with SGLT2 for a while. And I am not even diabetic. Maybe I lowered my blood sugar too low? I measure it and it isn’t and I don’t have symptoms of low blood sugar though
Likely not eating enough. Diet was low I'm nutrients prior to drug. Add drug nutrient level went even lower and biology said not happening and is ramping appetite up to over power drug. Need to focus on nutrition first consistently.
I'm on Rybelsus, in Europe. My daily dose is 14mg. Given the dosage in the trial was 50mg,should I expect my results to be significantly less good than using Ozempic? I started on Ozempic but moved to Rybelsus because Ozempic became almost unobtainable. Since then, my weight loss has flatlined. By the way, I also dislike the daily tablet. I have found it hard to consistently use it. My day starts with a glass of OJ or a mug of tea and habit means I often sleepwalk through making tea or opening the juice, so a day wasted!
It looks like the 50mg tab and wegovy at 2.4mg once weekly have comparable results over 68 weeks. So you will probably be splitting hairs as to which is more benefit. It would more be what works best for you.
@@MearnieToon I am overweight. I was discussing a relative difference and one that in practice has an effect on the effectiveness of the drug. As you probably know, many people stop using many types of medication that have a beneficial effect because of the manner in which they are administered. I fully intend to continue with Rybelsus, but I can understand that some people might not. Having been in the position of being able to use both forms, it seems reasonable to have a preference based upon the usage of the drug.
Many GLP-1 medication patients complain that hunger suppression only lasts for a few days after taking their once-a-week injection. I have to wonder if a once-a-day pill would help with this.
Depends. What is often occurring here is not the drug wearing off its people not eating enough to lose weight quickly. Therefore, their hunger is way up and when the drug decreases in serum concentration slightly they note an increase in appetite. Oral formulation likely won't affect much if the individual is not eating enough.
@DrDan That’s a great explanation, and one that I didn’t consider… previously thought it was all about the drug half-lifeing out of your system. 🤔 Btw, did talk to Dave over at Man on the Mounjaro… he’s totally down to have you guest, and likely has contacted you by now. Hopefully you two can make it work schedules-wise. 👍
Having used both oral and injected versions, my experience is that both have been effective in terms of appetite suppression. However, I have not been trying to control my calorie intake. I was advised to listen to my body and early in the process I made a conscious effort to eat regularly even if I did not feel at all hungry. Later the degree of appetite suppression reduced and at that point I ate when I felt hungry and continued to lose weight. Since starting, at no point did I count calories.
Great video! One of the downsides to the injection is the long lasting nature after taking it. It is a long time to wait for side effects to resolve when starting or ramping up the medication. The doctor should be able to take much quicker action on the medication dose (including discontinuing) for a daily pill. Or maybe that is a downside due to the ease of quitting the medication. Did this study show a higher "quit" rate due to side effects than Ozempic/Wagovy?
Semaglutide is the molecule in both as such the kinetics is the same. Whether you take the molecule oral or via injection that dose will last in the system for ~4-5 weeks. The quit rates in the Wegovy vs. Rybelsus studies are about the same.
