Dang I thought I had commented on this video already but better late than never. This is one of the best videos on RUclips. Epic explanation. We all need more ultra high quality content in our lives, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I just stumbled upon your channel last night. As a chemist I really appreciate your explanation of pH. So many RUclipsrs suggest vinegar and baking soda (often together! 😮) without truly understanding what they actually do. Your cleaning suggestions make perfect sense from a chemical standpoint. Bravo!
Having just, by pure chance, come across your toilet cleaning video, I took to heart your plea to check out this pH video and was most definitely not disappointed. If only material like this had been available & offered in my ancient High School days, I might have benefitted from a much better understanding, and likely retaining, of this useful information. Instead, material from the dusty tomes and aged wannabe scientists who tried to teach us this stuff, left it going in one ear and out the other. Anyway, as a proud new subscriber, I thank you for providing such practical, well presented, and enjoyable content. I must go now to make a cup of tea and seize the opportunity to binge on some more of your work.
I'm here from your toilet cleaning video; you are correct, this video IS really good! Thanks for your hard work & for sharing it with us. What I have found most useful is the knowledge that specific fabrics can be damaged just by contact with a a product of incompatible pH ... of course that makes perfect sense NOW, but I'd never really thought about it before...duh! Even if this video DID take you 8 years to make, it became available not long before I needed to see it, & for that I am grateful! Nice job! Also, we need more Irish people on RUclips! ☘Yay!🥳 God bless!😇 ["STOP Wasting Your Time Cleaning with the WRONG pH!" via Cleaning How To] [12.1.2024]
I teach how the PH scale affects fabric on my training courses; its super important. I've a growing irish audience and Iove to see it; sharing on facebook etc really helps :)
@@CleaningHowTo Thanks again! Wow I thought I knew the ph table but didn’t know it was logarithmic. I’ve subscribed coz I want to clean properly instead of just bleaching everything
I’m binge watching your videos! I already use less chemicals now a days but I still find myself going back to Clorox clean up as a multi purpose cleaner for bathrooms and kitchen (except some surfaces) I find it works like soap, removing oils and leaves everything white where it needs to be and it works as a disinfectant so I use it a lot because I don’t have to keep switching to different products for different areas. Can you make a video for something that we could substitute for it just as great if not better?? Although it’s multi functional my lungs don’t appreciate it!! 😅😅😅
Watch my videos on my home made cleaners; mix up a mild washing soda mix; 25g per 500ml should do it. Throw in a nice essential oil and it'll be nice to use :)
@@CleaningHowTo Me too. It was also super interesting to see how certain PH solutions can cancel each other out when mixed together. Super informative, your time invested in this one is very much appreciated. Thankyou. Well wishes for you and your business.
Just seeing this now, thank you! But I'm still not sure how to approach cleaning old hard water stains on porcelain, like around the tub in a shower enclosure where the water sits at the top edge surrounding the tub. It's almost like a hard crystalline structure.
I was looking for a good explanation of cleaning chemistry, (without knowing what I was looking for) and I now feel I have a better footing, I wanted to ask how can I test my cleaners to test their acidity?
I’m in the process of doing this for one of my online training courses (this video is a freebie and it’s part of the course). It’ll be launching in January :)
@@LilBrimstone64 the introduction to carpet cleaning course will be about €50-€90 - we haven’t decided yet, but there will be other much cheaper courses also. Keep an eye on www.Cleaninghow.to
Wow, amazing results for my drain! I saw a weed killer with caustic soda as an active ingredient, have you experimented with washing soda for this issue? :D It would probably also kill grass but there is always a chance to use a paint brush to avoid this :)

Wow... the ph not being linear exploded my mind. Very usefull to know since i like to do basic diy cosmetics and cleaning products! Thanks a lot!!

Acid. Try neat vinegar with a good dwell (one hour minimum). Use a cloth to keep it wet
Thank you!
No problem :)

Sir what is the safest ph level of home care products
Neutral.
So soap is better for unclogging kitchen drain than washing soda (higher pH)
washing soda and soap have relatively similar PH :)

at 0:34, you say scale is numbered 1 through 14 --- but, as you know, it is 0 to 14!
Whoops 😅
Why don't we're learn this stuff at school during science class.
Because that would be useful 😂
Cleaning science might be taught in home Ec but I’m not sure.
