May I just leave a comment on your absolutely beautiful voice. I'm in a very bad ME-crash and very sensitive to sounds, certain voices and manners of speech. You're a true joy to listen to; thank you for your informative videos. Much strength and healing on your further journey. Warm greetings from Germany.
THank you - that's so kind. I;m glad you were able to watch/listen without exacerbating your crash. Sending healing thoughts - I hope things improve for you soon.
Welcome to the Carnivore Lifestyle...9 months in and at 64 it has saved my life and I feel like I'm 30 again and maybe better. When I was 30 something my diet was bad...Dont stop keep going. The changes to your body will amaze you...
I started keto & fasting in 2018 & now Carnivore since January. Whilst on Keto i was eating all the cruciferous veg only with fatty meats & fish.To start with it helped me lot with some of my health issues & i feel that the keto diet opened my eyes as to how bad the standard diet , recommended by doctors actually is ! The cruciferous veg messed up my gut but now since starting the carnivore diet im not trapped in the house visiting the toilet up to 10 times a day. Only 3 weeks in & now & my gut is so much better. I dont miss the salad & veg at all & I'm never hungry so its easy to stick to. I'm so shocked ,as coming from a Mediterranean background & eating salads & veg daily i didnt think I'd be able to stomach it. I'm so in tune with my body now & excited to see how i feel in a few months time 😊 Thank you for your video & good luck with your health issues,
Thanks for sharing your story! It's been fascinating to hear about others' experiences. So glad Keto and Carnivore have worked so well for you! I haven't had any GI issues, even before I started and was eating bigger portions of cruciferous veg. Now, I'm just eating a few bites. I hope your improvements in health continue!
A while ago I read the book written by Dr. Salisbury (inventor of the Salisbury steak) because I kept hearing that he was the first doctor to recommend a carnivore diet, back in the 1870s. It's a fascinating book, and I recommend it to all carnivores. He records his results from a number of experiments that he did on himself, human volunteers, and pigs. He would feed the subjects just one food to see how long they could eat that food and nothing else, and what that one food would do to them if they were eating nothing else. He tried this with all kinds of things: oats, rice, lettuce, etc. He and the human volunteers would stick to each mono-diet until they just couldn't anymore, i.e. they felt like they were dying. The unfortunate pigs were fed the mono-diet until they actually did die. The mono-diet that the humans were able to stick to for the SHORTEST amount of time (I believe it was six days) was beans. They cramped, they bloated, they had dizziness, faintness, weakness, joint pain, that quickly. The only foods that Dr. Salisbury never found an upper time limit for were beef, lamb, and for some people turkey. He said people could eat those foods apparently indefinitely, and suffer no ill health effects. (Obviously he didn't test every single type of food. I suspect people could equally well eat a mono-diet of seal, or caribou, or hippo, or whatever.) I'm sharing this because you said beans are a favorite of yours. You might enjoy reading the book, it's pretty eye-opening.
Welcome to the Carnivore family. There’s a wide variety of how we eat. I myself am more ketovore (olive oil, olives, avocado, cheese and some nuts). I love all meats the fattier the better. I don’t feel hungry or have sugar cravings anymore. No more migraines or joint pain. I fast and feel like working out which is unusual for me. Lifting heavy weights and rowing everyday and I’m 60! This is a lifestyle change never going back to a SAD diet.
Wow, that's great that you are doing so well! And I greatly appreciate your encouragement & sharing what you eat - there's been a lot of judgement here! I hope you continue to thrive :)
Beef and lamb stews are very healthy, I add neck, back, soup and marrow bones with various meats to a slow cooker and cook them for 12 to 24 hours like a poor man's bone broth (I sometimes add a medium onion or potato). I then eat everything in the pot and suck out the bones too. These stews actually healed my back fully from an operation in 2005, I sometimes had back pain and always had stiffness and couldn't run but now I can sprint at the lake :)
I love stew. But people need to be aware of high-histamine in long-cook broth - people with ME definitely need to think about their mast cells on a systemic level, so extra histamine can be problematic.
I just found you! Been searching for cfs carnivore and voila! I'll email you today to say hi. From what i learned the uncured bacon, is supposed to have even more nitrates. Maybe run a search of that. Also learn about oxalates. Ive subscribed and next I'll see your diet update.😊
Thanks! Glad you found me :) Yes, my functional medicine specialist has been talking about oxalates, and I have learned a lot. She also ran oxalate testing on me, and I will get those results this month. To be honest, I don't fully understand why oxalates are an issue, since I'm not prone to kidney stones, but she and I will discuss all tghat when she reviews my test results. Thanks for the heads up on uncured bacon - I will look it up.
Why to check with medical professional before starting carnivore? Its FOOD, not a prescription medicine. Will you ask a doctor whether you are allowed to eat pizza today?
It depends on where you are starting from. If you are planning to make a very drastic change to your diet and you have medical problems, it's always a good idea to check with a health professional.
@@louk6196 I never even considered being sued. I am truly concerned for my audience, who are those with complex chronic illnesses like my own - it's a very heterogenous disease and very often includes severe GI symptoms and food intolerances, so I was quite sincere in encouraging my viewers to consider their own unique medical situation and to consult with a medical professional. My video is not aimed at a general audience.
Meat marinades are loaded with sugar. More and more pre-marinaded cuts of meat are appearing in supermarkets imn Australia - yeah right, what we all need is more sugar in our diets!
Great point! It is definitely something to look out for - just read the nutrition facts on the packages for carbs & sugars. I mentioned Trader Joe's because they're a wonderful chain in the U.S., with a focus on natural ingredients - they're marinated meats are mostly sugar-free with maybe just 1-2 carbs from the marinade. You can do your own spices or dry rubs at home.
and with canola oil, as well. I avoid them. The sugar is disguised with names like maltodextrin. It's worth googling 200 names for sugar to help guide our choices.
This was really really interesting and helpful. I’ve had me/cfs for 8 years and I’ve been carnivore for 2 weeks after 10 years of keto. I really resonate with everything you say, thank you x
Glad you found it helpful! After my 3 months of carnivore, I transitioned to more of a keto diet. Still have to severely limits carbs (and zero sugar) to keep yeast overgrowth under control but I'm eating a bit more veggies now. Still feeling good!
So happy for your success!! Bravo!! On nitrates, it is my understanding that the term "no nitrates" is a word trick. Nitrates occur from using salt to cure the meat, in "no nitrate" foods, they don't use sodium, they use celery salt instead. I have heard that on a molecular level, the nitrates derived from sodium and celery salt are the same. Something to look into anyway. I dont eat cured meats due to the high histamine content so I have not researched this very far.
Yes, from what I have read in the past, that is true. I think the naturally-occurring nitrates in celery salt are still slightly better than the chemicals that used to be used (and still are in some products), but I agree - when possible, I look for bacon, ham, etc labelled uncured instead. Thanks for the comment!
I’m in the same boat you are. For at least ten years. Except I have gerd, or silent reflux. I’m going for the 90 days on carnivore, and following Dr. Ken Barry. I’ve had tests for SIBO, and I’m positive for that. It will be difficult, but I’m ready.
I am so happy for you Sue, thank you for sharing your story. I'm about 6+ months in myself and I've lost 60lbs since last year(255->195), look and feel much healthier, and a lot of my minor health conditions resolved simultaneously. Did you notice that multiple positive changes occurred close to each other, or mainly your core health issue? I'll share a bit more here in case anyone reading can get something out of it: I was recently wondering about any deficiencies that can occur, and the only issues I had was minor arrhythmia/muscle spasms, which after looking into it appeared to be an electrolyte problem. No worries, I got some bulk potassium and magnesium powders, and these problems instantly vanished. Next I realized that a few other issues could occur with important vitamins. Certain B vitamins appear deficient in beef alone(I personally do beef eggs butter/cream and supplement saurkraut, sardines/small fish/mackeral 1-2 times a week, and rarely include cheeses cultured milks other seafoods). E will be low apparently(unless one eats lots of.. I dunno.. Salmon roe) Beef liver apparently solves several of these deficiencies at once, and very little(like 1 oz a day or so should be okay?) Aside from that, I don't drink tons of bone broth so I thought I'd supplement calcium too-- I notice one negative in that my teeth have lost whiteness, which to me suggests my cutting of milk has led to a sudden dip in calcium(again, solved by bulk powder). And beyond that, just Iodine which you mention, Vitamin C and E, and that covers pretty much everything I think(as long as one has grass fed beef. Grain fed beef will be less nutritious and sometimes completely lack something like Vitamin K I believe it was). So hopefully those supplement considerations helps someone cover all the bases for what can go wrong potentially. You're spot on about how this is a kind of experimental process, since we're all different, and it's difficult to make heads or tails of what's what. Jeeze, this was an essay. Anywho, best wishes to you Sue, and thanks again for this video, no one deserves to suffer pointlessly so it's an important one to have made.
Hi, Chris - Thanks so much for your detailed comment and recommendations! I'm sure that will be helpful to many people. As for me, my "core health issue" affects every part and function of my body, so there is nothing else :) I did lose another 4 pounds or so, but I lost 23 all together (from a very small frame!), mostly due to finally normalizing thyroid function last year. So, that's been great. After the 3 months passed, I am now more keto - still very restricted carbs. But, for me, my diet is 100% what I am ABLE to eat without making my condition worse. Yeast overgrowth is still a huge issue due to my immune problems, so my diet is not too far off from what I said here - carnivore plus a few non-starchy veggies each day - just a bit more veggies these days and less bacon because I don't want to lose more weight! My husband is eating about the same (though he doesn't have my health problems so is more flexible), and he's lost 20 pounds - his golf shorts were falling down around his ankles last week, so that's on his wish list for Father's Day!
With all due respect, eating cruciferous vegetables, and at the same time stating that you’re eating carnivore doesn’t make sense to me. If you’re eating carnivore, you’re eating fatty meats and fatty fish and have eliminated everything else. So how can you be eating carnivore and still eating vegetables? The definition of keto is eating less than 20 g of carbohydrates. The definition of ketovore is eating less than 10 g of carbohydrates. Eating carnivore is zero carbohydrates. So if you’re eating vegetables, you are consuming carbohydrates.
I'm really not all that concerned about labels. This video is meant for others with similar chronic illnesses to mine and simply to share my experiences with diet so far (Paleo before). In my research, most sources defined keto as 20-50 g of carbs per day. I was 100% carnivore for the first 2 weeks, but I explain why I added back tiny amounts of veg - just a few bites a day, which helps to mitigate the dry mouth. Here, I refer to it as 97% carnivore. I don't really care if it meets the exact definition--I'm doing what works for me. My focus is on sharing my personal experiences with others with ME/CFS and similar diseases, which is why I tried to be as detailed as possible.
Don’t get me wrong I definitely appreciate your journey with your life experiences to metabolic health. I’ve been strict carnivore for almost 3 years, and I’ve never looked back and have never fallen off the wagon. I was severely metabolically sick with autoimmune issues and health issues that stemmed from a life long Journey of OCD carbs that put me in a direction that I had no choice to go. I’ll be 70 in May going on 45 as everyone of my metabolic health and autoimmune issues have gone bye-bye permanently. That is my motivation for the rest of my life to stay strict, carnivore and strict lion diet. I feel great! And given new life. I also compete in cycling and do CrossFit.
You are saying "I do what works for me" not because you know it (nobody knows, especially on such short term) but to justify your craving for vegs. It's the same psychological crutch used in your "modified paleo diet". Please, take no offense here, I was a veg lover and am in the same boat as you. Vegs family may bring in some minerals and ease the carnivore diet. But it has many downsides. It contains anti nutrients and oxalates which have well documented long term effects that you can NOT see but will delay the healing and come back to bite you later. And most importantly (to me, not to you most probably), it's a temptation to compromise with carnivore leading people to fall off the cart. I've seen at least 2 such examples around me personnally to be extra cautious about it. Not trying to be a carnivore ayatolah here, just to share my own experience that the psychological crutch is no joke.
@@frederichominh3152 I did not have any cravings & it's not psychological - as I explain in the video, I found the dry mouth on 100% carnivore intolerable. That's why I added in a few bites of non-yeast-encouraging veggies a day - just a few bites. I feel much better doing it this way, so it is what works for me, for now. And I am sticking with low oxalates. Thanks for sharing your experiences - I appreciate you taking the time to comment and share.
For your husband you might want to have him look up Dr. Eric Westman the research medical doctor that worked with Dr. Atkins and has a clinic at Duke University in Kentucky. He is also a terrific person to follow and your husband might enjoy him and his keto plan diet That involves 20 carbs or less a day.
Carnivore has transformed my life to the point that I no longer consider myself a spoonie. I'm beyond grateful to say goodbye to the vast majority of my fibro/ME/CFS/hashimoto's symptoms. I pray it will be the answer you need as well. Many carnivores talk about getting off all their medications completely, but I'm very hesitant to do this. I'm too happy with where I am, and I think that others dealing with immune issues should think twice about changing anything once they find their dietary happy place. Best of luck to us all!
Wow, that is great to hear! Thanks so much for sharing your story with me. So, is your exertion intolerance gone now? Are you able to be as active as you want without crashing afterward? That's my dream! I've already learned that lesson about meds! Three weeks into this diet, I was feeling better, so I tried to reduce my dose of prescription antifungals (I had to increase the dose last year so am anxious to get back to my "normal" dose). I immediately started to feel worse - the thrush and aches came back! I was just writing my February goals and for health, I wrote "Don't change anything!" ha ha I'm thrilled this has worked so well for you - thanks for taking the time to comment!
I do take iodine, for my thyroid dysfunction (and it helps tremendously with that!), but I take Iodoral brand, which two of my doctors recommended. There's a link in the notes above to my blog post on treating thyroid dysfunction.
Thank you so much for sharing! I have also basically been paleo for 35 years with occasional cheats. I had the same experience energy wise the first time I tried keto in 2018.i had to stop because we had a (modified) vacation. I tried keto again for 9 weeks strictly in 2020 but did not have half as much energy improvement as the first time. After your results, I think I will try the carnivore being I am experiencing a pretty bad "low period" almost entire 2023. My husband is also healthy and not on any meds. He has been a runner and needs a hip replacement the end of this month. I am a bit concerned being I feel so incredibly wiped this past year. I am also hypothyroid and take iodine and selenium. Which type, brand and dose iodine do you take? Is there a carnivore diet guideline that you can recommend? Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I have two weeks before his surgery and think I should give it a try for sure. I also struggle with reoccurring candida which is hard to understand being I don't eat sugar. I am so happy you are enjoying "getting out" and functioning better! Do you mind sharing your doctors name? I have had good results with the "flulike symptoms" being on Chineses Herbs for a little over two years. Thank you again and wishing you continued and sustained energy!
Thanks so much for sharing some of your experiences, Lydia. It sounds like we have a lot in common! So, for hypothyroidism, it took me a full YEAR (a little more than that, actually) to get it semi-normalized - lab tests every 2 months, adjust meds, wait another 2 months, check again, etc. It was a long process! It's important to get the right tests and the right meds. Click the "... more" up above, under the video and my title and description - take a look at my blog post on treating thyroid - it has all the details. That has had a HUGE impact on my improvement, especially with energy. You know you're on the right thyroid treatments when you start to lose weight without trying (about 19 pounds, just from thyroid treatments alone for me, and I'm a very small person!). Once I got the meds right, I then added iodine and saw another big improvement. I take Iodoral - currently 18.75 mg but may go up again. That's all in that blog post, too. So thyroid was a big piece of the puzzle, but yeast overgrowth was the other big piece. That alone could be the cause of your low energy and feeling worse the past year. I was also no-sugar but still had yeast overgrowth. Given that you know it's an issue for you, I would definitely try diet changes to see fast results. Eliminate all or most carbs - no sugars, no grains, no fruit, no starchy vegetables, and no legumes (I love beans!). Whether it's 100% carnivore or you do have some non-yeast-encouraging veggies (cruciferous are good - broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, etc. - avocado is good too) (I'm about 95% carnivore right now), if you starve the yeast, you should start feeling better in 1-2 weeks. My flu-like aches were (as usual) completely due to my immune system overreacting - in this case to the yeast. Good luck and please let me know how it goes!
I hope that you can find why no one is doing research or research papers in this. Are they afraid of something meaning big business? medical business? Maybe even the doctor business? I hope with your scientific background that you will be able to find out an honest answer, keep up your videos, and good luck to you and your husband. I have lost over 90 pounds since last January and reversed being a prediabetic with insulin resistance.
Thanks a lot! I appreciate the encouragement. I suspect, as with any research into diet's affect on disease, there is simply no one who stands to gain from it so no one to fund the research. That's the sad truth of our current system. Maybe the beef or pork industries will get on board and fund some research - ha ha Glad to hear you've had such remarkable results!
Hi Sue, Welcome to the Carnivore Diet and thank you for sharing your story. I was on a paleo diet for the past 23 years but started the carnivore diet as of March 1st this year. I had IBS (all in remission) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome! My fatigue went away in about 3 weeks but still have limitations in what I can do so I am doing another 3 months of Carnivore to see if my energy will improve further. I also did a lot of research on my end and you may want to look at information with foods containing Oxalates and Histamines - both could trigger CFS. There is a good book you many want to read which is : Toxic Superfoods by Sally K. Norton.
Thanks for sharing your story! So glad the diet has helped you so much! This video is from the beginning of the year, so after my 3 months of 97% carnivore, I have added in a few more non-yeast-encouraging veggies, so I'm more keto right now. And my son and I both treat MCAS, so we're good on histamines. Ugh, my functional medicine specialist is always talking about oxalates!! In fact, she did oxalate testing on me - I need to schedule an appointment to review it. The problem is that I love nuts - especially now that I have so few snack options. sigh ... I guess I better schedule that appointment!
hi, thanks for all that you share. 4:50 how much is too much oral thrush ? Dentist said some was ok. Also you talk about using "natural" sugar. I read somewhere that honey and others are just turned into glucose, so makes no difference. Amount makes a difference and part of a meal or just by itself etc.
Any thrush would indicate an overgrowth of yeast/candida, which is not OK - if left untreated, it can lead to all sorts of systemic problems. Yes, everything you said about sugars is accurate. And I may have mentioned that the Paleo diet includes natural sugars, but I believe I also said that even natural sugars are a problem with yeast overgrowth. I am strictly NO sugar at all due to the yeast issues. The only sweetener I use (and tiny amounts, rarely) now is stevia, which is natural and does not encourage yeast overgrowth.
@@SueJacksonDE Thanks. For some reason I don't like the taste of Stevia. Case in point. Just through out a bottle SweetLeaf liquid stevia from the fridge that had an exp date of 2017 :)))) I will try to affect yeast in my with diet changes and lower my sugar intake, but I am also skinny as CFS left my body weak and skinny but I won't go into that now, thanks.
@@IThinkICare I agree some of the stevia has a weird taste. We use Truvia (available in any grocery store, near the sugar). It's granulated, just like sugar (and they also make Truvia baking products that you can use just like sugar in baking), so you can sprinkle it or use it like sugar. It's a combination of stevia and erythriol (which is a sugar alcohol that is anti-yeast). It tastes great & works well - we've used it for a long time. Worth a try! Definitely try to eliminate sugar (and bread & other refined carbs, if you can) to get the yeast under control - you can get your calories and gain weight from other sources. Getting plenty of protein and healthy fats is important for anyone, regardless of their diet or health. That will help with energy, too. If you look at the notes below this video (click on ... more), I included a link to my blog post on Treating Yeast Overgrowth - there are LOTS of simple treatments to try besides diet (though diet is very important). Yeast causes exhaustion, fatigue, aches, and many more symptoms, so getting it under control can greatly improve how you feel overall - as it has for me! Good luck, and please feel free to ask any questions, here or on the blog.
@@SueJacksonDE Thanks, I did look at the blog. Also tried erythritol many years ago and didn't have a problem with it, but I will look for other Stevia locally.
i have had CFS for 3.5 years now. just week a go somehow got an idea to my brain to put carnivore and cfs to youtube and i have found very positive information.. Still searching more :D I have been two weeks on Keto already (have tried before also) and feel a bit better with keto than lowcarb.. without keto i cant even go outside every day.. now i can even thou i just sit there :D i was thinking to start Carnivore when i have been on keto about full month.. Do u think its good idea to jump from keto to carnivore? In my mind it sounds more reasonable than rising carbs back up first.
That sounds like a good strategy. Since you have CFS, it is very likely that yeast overgrowth is an issue for you, too (because of the specific kind of immune dysfunction in ME/CFS), so limiting sugar and grains should definitely help. I ate Paleo for about 10 years (though wasn't strict about it anymore), did 3 months of carnivore at the start of the year (as I describe here), and have transitioned to more keto now. But I still have to be very, very careful about what I eat to keep the yeast under control. I had some blueberries and sugar-free syrup (sweetened with sorbitol which also feeds yeast) yesterday and could see and feel thrush on my tongue again. Got really strict again and feeling better today. It's all about what works for you.
@@SueJacksonDE I dont know about yeast but i have a lot of mycotoxins in my body and also exposed to high dozes of ozone when i got sick.. But yeah i dont eat any grains or almost anything prosessed... and im really sensitive to all chemicals.. Funny because before i got sick i was not sensitive at all. Do you have a video where you go to your symptoms with detail? I have heart palpations, really terrible muscle, joint and nerve pains and fatigue also MCAS. and on Winter time my skins gets pretty bad. Here in Finland weather on winter is cold and dry.
@@joonasseppala1576 Check out my Our Story video in the Chronic Illness playlist on my channel for details of my sons' and my illnesses, symptoms, and the treatments that have helped us. The heart palpitations you describe are normal in ME/CFS, a part of Orthostatic Intolerance (OI), which is an integral part of the disease. Fortunately, it is treatable! And treating OI can result in dramatic improvements, as it did for us. I have a video on OI that I highly recommend you check out. OI is a disorder of the autonomic nervous system, so it could also contribute to your nerve pain - treating it can make everything better.
Salt may help. I heard other cultures dont drink much. Waterlogged is about drinking to quench thirst washing out electrolytes but also kidneys recycle water if your salt intake is the dehydration factor. Need enough salt. Without carbs you almost can't overeat salt.
Thanks! As I explain in the video, salt and electrolytes have been an essential part of my routine for over 20 years because Orthostatic Intolerance (which stems in part from low blood volume) is part of my disease. Definitely good advice!
It's good to see and hear you looking so well, Sue. I'm glad the 97% carnivore diet is working for you thus far. I happened to be eating a lamb chop while watching this! I probably am not a good candidate for the carnivore diet, but I am going to be looking into what better ways I can be eating. I know I'm not a good candidate for a low-fat plant-based diet: I did that for 2 1/2 years and got so much sicker. That was 3 years ago, and I'm still not recovered. SO, I just learned about a book called Medicine's Missing Link: Metabolic Typing and Your Personal Food Plan, by Tom and Carole Valentine. Did you know there are 19 different shapes of stomachs? And that depending on what yours is will determine what you should eat? Apparently, Tom learned all about this when a Vegan diet healed his health but almost killed his wife! I can't wait to get that book. I'm also listening to a series called Eating God's Way by Dr. Michael K. Lake, and it is fascinating! God has it all laid out for us what foods are clean and what foods are not. This is why I won't even touch pork or shellfish. Not the only reason it's unclean, but pork is loaded with parasites. Thank God for Trader Joe's Turkey Bacon! I learned from Ian Clark, and others, that the more water we drink the more dehydrated we become, that is, water that doesn't have Celtic Sea Salt added to it, or (sea) minerals added to it. Ian said, 'Any time you drink any fluids that have less salinity than your body needs, it is a hungry scavenger. It’ll force your body to donate your precious electrolytes that you don’t have enough of to start with. You’re donating into the water you drink and then you pee it out!! The more water you drink, the more dehydrated you become, the more you lose your electrolytes, the less blood you can produce! You pump 2000 gallons of blood a day. As you get older and your blood is thinning (from drinking water and inhaling toxic particulates in the air), you have less ability to produce clean blood! Your body can’t clean it out.' I can't believe how much better my poor skin has gotten since I started doing this! I'm seeing other improvements in my health as well, from the water and Activation Products. Another thing I'm going to get into is becoming a "millinite!" Thanks, Nathan and Chelsea Reynolds! By grinding your own grains and making your own bread, you get what true bread is, including the germ and the bran. Our modern-day breads and sifted flours have those removed which truly destroys the goodness and nutritional benefit, and are yes, bad for you. It's Biblical that you can almost live off of true bread because it is loaded with almost all the essential nutrients. I'm going to read your blog about thyroid. I need help there. All I want to do is heal my poor thyroid and get off the dang Armour, which is harming me.
Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to comment, Judy! So nice to see your familiar name here :) I'm glad to hear you've found some approaches that are helping you - that's great news! Yes, lots of electrolytes are also a basic tenet of carnivore diet, too, though we've done that for years because of OI. Thanks for catching me up when what you've been up to. I hope you find the thyrpid post helpful - wow, normalizing my thyroid has been a huge help for me. Take care, my friend!
@@SueJacksonDE ...Iodine! Gotta love it! I love Activation Products Perfect Iodine. Glad I got off the toxic Lugol's. The only other safe one is Nascent.
After a certain progress of recovering from cfs, do you know whether or not if symptoms would return if you were to stop the carnivore diet? Or do you have to always eat in carnivore for the rest of your life in order to not have cfs?
I'm certainly not claiming carnivore diet can "cure" ME/CFS - it's a complex immune disorder with no known cure. For me, diet (now more keto) is a key factor in controlling yeast overgrowth, so I feel much better and can do a lot more ... but of course, I still have ME/CFS.
Good luck on your continuing journey. I do find it too confusing though to know what really worked for you. Getting your thyroid medication sorted could explain all of the improvements across the board. Also we all know that weight loss improves everything. Worth noting that very low carb makes your thyroid numbers go down. That’s a response to low carb.
Sorry if that wasn't clear. My thyroid was normalized by early December, but I was still mostly bedridden the rest of the month. As I explain in the video, yeast overgrowth was. HUGE factor for me, causing immune activation (common in my chronic illness), so I went from couchbound to up and living my life again, about 10 days after restricting my diet & then even much better once I went carnivore.
That's not really science but more supposition. Early man was a hunter-gatherer and besides meat also ate plenty of nuts, berries, greens, fruits, and other gathered plants. And man has evolved over millions of years so that our bodies are not exactly the same as they were in the days of earliest humankind.
Normalizing your insulin gets it out of the other hormones way. You may need to adjust your other therapy. Do you take iodine drops? You may find they help your other therapies work better. I use olive oil or coconut oil like chewing gum or tobacco or something.
I do supplement with iodine - that was an essential step in normalizing thyroid function. And I do plan to continue retesting thyroid to make sure it stays functioning well, so thanks for the advice!
Good on you! I am 60 days in myself and can't see myself going back to veggies. Dr Chaffee has some good clips on the chemicals and toxins in veggies. I'm sure if you find you're not cured eating cruciferious veggiesyou might try just meat? Michaela peterson got of dozens of medications and is healthy and not going back. I guess youhave toast yourself how bad do you want to get your health back? I only have weight to contend with. And sugar addiction. I have lost weight and feel incredible already. Oh and Dr Bright has some good videos on thyroid if you want some other ideas. Good luck!
Well, I'm only eating a few bites a day (max), so I'm not worried about that. My thyroid function is great now, after a year of working with my doctor to normalize it. For me personally, my bigger health issue that affects my chronic illness severely is yeast overgrowth, and yeast don't like cruciferous veggies. Thanks for the comment - I hadn't heard that term before, so I learned something new!
Oddly enough whenever I go full carnivore i eat less of everything. I can't eat as much meat if im not eating the other stuff. Its kinda weird. I cheat on carnivore sometimes because I just wanted to eat. Or eat lower quality meats like chicken because I can eat a higher volume of chicken than beef. Sardines for the work truck. I don't tolerate pork well so i stay away from potted meat.
If you get close to curing your medical issue, you might want to go even further, and do the Makayla Peterson daughter of Jordan Peterson Lion Diet, that seems to really narrow it down to a total possible cure or total remission.
@@SueJacksonDE On youtube search type in michaela peterson and ted talks as she talks about her success on the lion diet . Or you might have to look on her RUclips channel to see the recording of it. Because unfortunately , either google or I think youtube may have taken it down because of the controversy which is nonsense. But she did do a Ted talk in front of an audience regarding the lion diet and the success that she's had on it for all her autoimmune diseases and her diagnosed teenage arthritis. I think at the age of 10 and the terrible things that go with that. And now that it has been greatly improved your cure. Again good luck and cheers and good luck for your husband!
Do you have CIRS? take the vcs test and find out. All of your symptoms can be explained under the umbrella of CIRS. CIRS is reversible and manageable. I had CFS, which is now gone, I have mild MCAS, SIBO, MARCoNS, I have reactive arthritis and fibromyalgia - all of these caused by CIRS. 1 in 4 people have CIRS, 90% of them don't know it. The only way to know you DON'T have it is if you pass the vcs test.
I actually am looking into mold illness, so thanks for the tip! My bloodwork didn't show much, but I'm going to get the house checked out, too. It's definitely an area of possibility. Thanks!
@@SueJacksonDE take the vcs test and you'll know before you spend the money on the house. That way you can get the right people to help you. Your average mold inspection like they do for houses for sale doesn't cut it for mold illness. Get the book, "Mold Money" by Daniel Stih, excellent book that can save you thousands of dollars.
Wow good job. I do include vegetables but in small amounts non starchy so no red beets potatoes carrots and other sugary veggies.Only onions garlic and peppers peppers pickles low oxcalates 😂. Don't worry about nitrate it's an urban legend but certain Cold cuts contain something worse than nitrate
Thanks! Yes, I forgot to mention in the video, but I am focusing on low oxalates, too - especially as I add veggies back in after 3 months. I've read the scientific studies on carcinogens in nitrates, going back 40 years! It's very well-researched and now accepted scientific fact, which is why even mainstream companies are eliminating them from their products.
I‘m now into strict carnivore for 9 days and over these days I got a lot weaker. First days I felt like having a flu. Hope this will soon be better. I want to try at least 3-4 weeks. I think I probably should have done it more slowly 😕 (ME/CFS since 2011)
Ah, yes, they call that the "carnivore flu" or "keto flu" for those doing keto. That initial worsening is completely normal when you transition to one of these diets quickly. I didn't experience it, but - as you mention - I did it a lot more gradually (mostly paleo for about 10 years, then carnivore + cruciferous veg for two weeks, then full carnivore). So, I am now past my full 3 months and still feeling great! Good energy and not a single crash in 2024 😮. At this point, especially after Easter, I am transitioning to more keto, but it is clear to me how critical it is to keep the yeast overgrowth under control with (among other things) diet, so I am definitely sticking with it. Note that before I tried this diet, I treated LOTS of other aspects of the disease: orthostatic intolerance, sleep dysfunction, immune dysfunction, methylation, and more. I spent all last year working with my primary care doctor to get my thyroid function back to normal, which had a HUGE positive impact. So, getting yeast under control was like the final piece of the puzzle that allowed me to truly see the benefits of all the treatments that came before it. If you're only doing diet (and no probiotics, herbal antifungals, or prescription antifungals), then it could easily take a full month for the yeast overgrowth to clear up, so hang in there. YT doesn't like links in comments, so click on " ... more" at the end of the description below the video to see all the links to more info - on treating yeast anf other effective treatments for ME/CFS. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
@@SueJacksonDE thanks for your detailed answer! I also tried many things over the past 12 years but it’s the first time I’m trying carnivore. A few years ago I was 95 % vegan so that’s quite a difference … Will give an update in a few weeks :)

if you want max benefits do lion diet then you will lose all taste for other things meat is the most satisfying im carnivore for 6 years and this is my only science i need i will stay on this for life with other things occasionally eggs and such , its important to stay away from artificial sweetners as they trigger cravings and cause ppl to continuously fall off its a process and a long one but a journey well worth taking, i was a very sick person and now am in perfect health at 68 stick with it and try different experiments you will figure it out.
You say you aren’t interested in labels in the comments but you labeled your video Carnivore. If you are doing an elimination diet to see what affects you, 2 weeks isn’t long enough to learn if oxalates in cruciferous are a contributing factor. I’m all about people doing their own thing but your title confused many of us. I hope you find your solution.
Sorry you found it confusing. As I explained in the video, my diet is based 100% on my own unique medical problems (including immune dysfunction, food intolerances, and severe yeast overgrowth) and this video was intended for others with similar problems. I was trying a carnivore-type diet for 3 months (and now eat more keto though still very low carb). Oxalates are something my functional medicine specialist discussed but not my priority (and besides, most cruciferous veggies are very low in oxalates). Hope that helps to clarify things for you. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Isn't it hard on the kidneys? I tried high protein diet once in my teens and I fainted two times in several weeks. Keto and carnivore sound very dangerous and radical to me.
It could be hard on the kidneys, if you're prone to kidney problems (another reason to check with your doctor) or you don't drink enough water. But many of the changes - eliminating processed foods, sugars, refined grains - are good for all of your organs and your overall health. Like I said in the video, a lot depends on where you are starting from (I was already Paleo) and what your own specific health problems are.
It's not a high protein diet, it's a high fat diet with moderate protein. Watch Dr. Berry's videos for lots of great info. I've been carnivore for almost two years and I'm improving my health. I feel better now than I have in 10 years.
There are testimonials from people who have reversed kidney disease - as mentioned, fat is an important part of the diet, where excess protein could potentially be a problem without enough fat to balance it out - and plenty of water and electrolytes.

I'm so in tune with my body now & excited to see how i feel in a few months time 😊 Thank you for your video &
good luck with your health issues,
Thanks for sharing your story!
I suspect people could equally well eat a mono-diet of seal, or caribou, or hippo, or whatever.)
I'm sharing this because you said beans are a favorite of yours. You might enjoy reading the book, it's pretty eye-opening.
Thanks! It sounds interesting. I loved Salisbury steak as a kid - ha ha
Thanks for the tip! Glad to hear you're doing so much better!
I love stew. But people need to be aware of high-histamine in long-cook broth - people with ME definitely need to think about their mast cells on a systemic level, so extra histamine can be problematic.
@@leavesofchange Good point. We found effective treatments for MCAS years ago, but histamines are certainly an issue for many.
Hope this plan continues to make you feel better. 👏👏👏

Lots of RUclipsrs start with this statement. It’s to cover them from being sued if someone goes carnivore and has an adverse reaction.
@@SueJacksonDE Good for you.
This is brilliant. Thank you for your time and efforts.
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful.
I hope you get some relief! Let me know how things go for you - I;m interested to hear from others with chronic illness trying this.
I have gerd and CFS , For gerd it's better to get surgery.
I dunno.. Salmon roe)
Beef liver apparently solves several of these deficiencies at once, and very little(like 1 oz a day or so should be okay?)
Aside from that, I don't drink tons of bone broth so I thought I'd supplement calcium too-- I notice one negative in that my teeth have lost whiteness, which to me suggests my cutting of milk has led to a sudden dip in calcium(again, solved by bulk powder).
@@gregorygoldbarth7464 Wow, that is great! What a wonderful turn-around! Thanks for sharing your story with me.
Thanks!
How long did it take for you to get better? Im 3 weeks in and I almost fainted today :(
Hi thanks for this! So great you’re improving on this diet. Are you consuming lugol’s iodine by chance? Seems popular in the carnivore community.
Still searching more :D I have been two weeks on Keto already (have tried before also) and feel a bit better with keto than lowcarb.. without keto i cant even go outside every day.. now i can even thou i just sit there :D
i was thinking to start Carnivore when i have been on keto about full month..
@@judyactonayalaWhat makes Lugos iodine toxic?
Good job. Dr Berry would say your doing ketovore.❤
Thanks!
The science behind it is very simple. Man ate meat long before fruit and vegetables were being eaten. No hard thinking needed.
Good luck!
Thanks for the additional resources! Do you have ME/CFS?
@@SueJacksonDE no just weight and possibly prediabetes. Nothing luke what you've been experiencing! Keep up the great work you will get there xoxo
@@corinnecoombs2956 Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement!
Those veggies you mention are goitrogens
Yes, I've found the same! I can only eat so much meat at one sitting - I get sick of chewing! ha ha
If you get close to curing your medical issue, you might want to go even further, and do the Makayla Peterson daughter of Jordan Peterson Lion Diet, that seems to really narrow it down to a total possible cure or total remission.
Thanks! I'm not expecting to cure my disease (there is no cure and it's very complicated), but I will check it out - thanks!
How much is this test

I actually am looking into mold illness, so thanks for the tip! My bloodwork didn't show much, but I'm going to get the house checked out, too. It's definitely an area of possibility. Thanks!
@@SueJacksonDE take the vcs test and you'll know before you spend the money on the house. That way you can get the right people to help you. Your average mold inspection like they do for houses for sale doesn't cut it for mold illness. Get the book, "Mold Money" by Daniel Stih, excellent book that can save you thousands of dollars.
Hello I too am suffering and would like to know more about how you reversed your CFS when you treated it from CIRS, did you do carnivore to do that ?
Add iodine and consume more Himalayan salt for the dry mouth.
Yup, already doing both of those, since before the diet, due to my chronic illness. Thanks!
I‘m now into strict carnivore for 9 days and over these days I got a lot weaker. First days I felt like having a flu.
Hope this will soon be better. I want to try at least 3-4 weeks.
I think I probably should have done it more slowly 😕
(ME/CFS since 2011)
Ah, yes, they call that the "carnivore flu" or "keto flu" for those doing keto.
@@SueJacksonDE thanks for your detailed answer!

if you want max benefits do lion diet then you will lose all taste for other things meat is the most satisfying im carnivore for 6 years and this is my only science i need i will stay on this for life with other things occasionally eggs and such , its important to stay away from artificial sweetners as they trigger cravings and cause ppl to continuously fall off its a process and a long one but a journey well worth taking, i was a very sick person and now am in perfect health at 68 stick with it and try different experiments you will figure it out.
Thanks so much for the encouragement and for sharing your experience! So glad to hear of your improvement!
Thanks
If you don’t do the research and follow the diet properly you will feel really good.
