    I know you've improved a lot since this as I've just seen your recent videos. You did brilliantly to sort that mass brawl out but I'd have abandoned it myself and sent a report in. I had to abandon an Under 13s game for a mass brawl up here in NW too. BTW,there is no such think as obstruction any more,which I think you likely know by now. Definite push on the blue defender for Reds second goal though.

    Very well handled. I sit on too many cases where a ref just abandons the game after melees like that which often means the individuals get away with it and just the club gets fined. Word of advice though, laws in “friendlies” are exactly the same as competitive games, if it’s a red card, it’s a red card.
    I like the way you got the two teams separated but this meant you dealt with one then the other. It looks better if once apart you then call one from each side and deal with the reds first. Then call the next two etc, etc… Good comms though.

      well said David, one game I did once in pre season where I sent a player off and the team said cant we just sub him, I replied no as hes been sent off and they kicked off about it and said "last weeks ref let us do it". Refs who choose their own protocols for situations and ignore the laws just cause problems for next weeks ref. Either that or as mentioned earlier that club probably has discipline issues that both them and the match officials are failing to act upon.

    I think the FA should make a new rule about players/staff running on to the pitch all getting instant reds. It's hard enough dealing with 22 players fighting, when you get a dozen people charging in from the flanks it turns in to chaos, so they should all get a card and the resulting ban.

    • @RefsWorld
      @RefsWorld  5 месяцев назад +2

      I agree but no matter what law there is, as soon as something like this happens, everyone will still run onto the pitch

    • @elliottsw
      @elliottsw 5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah but eventually it may sink in. When I first worked on the pitch with the TV crews I was shocked at how much abuse and aggression is directed at the officials. I'm a big fan of how rugby deals with it, and while football would be reeling for the first few months if anyone who swore at the ref was sent off - as more than half the team would be booked in the first half - it may eventually lead to a bit more of a controlled game. However that's none of my business as I'm strictly an observer, and well above the pay grade and responsibility of any single ref - the powers that be need to address it across the whole country, if not continent, as it would never ever work for single refs in single matches.
      I'm hugely impressed at how you managed to keep track of what was going on in the melee, I think a lot of people would have given up following the punches and just abandoned the match, it's good that you got the culprits off and managed to get a good game out of it.

    • @RefsWorld
      @RefsWorld  5 месяцев назад

      @elliottsw I 100% agree with you. Initially the FA thought sin bins would help but there’s still the same amount of abuse in the game, if not more. There’s respect in rugby which is taught from a young age. In football it’s completely different and referees get all the blame
