I swear people think maintaining a pool is just run of the mill, no problem, lol. But the guys like you all sit back with major pride when you can watch that filter pumping a solid pressure out with the correct levels looking crystal blue and enjoy the results of our labor. I have been thru he'll and back with my pool. Filter cracksd, holes in new liner, probably my fault because I had no experience. The worst is that I have a neighbor who thinks he is the pool God yet no help. He's kind of a dick I realized over time.
Over the past few weeks, I've been telling my wife that I want to come up with a better method for our above ground (AG) pool. And in my head, I could see it and a quick search and HERE'S YOUR VID!!!!!! THANK you for posting this! I'm going to get to work on it this weekend. We're also going to use your 'pool sweep' setup to vacuum!! Thanks man!
I took the eye out of my return and fit a 90* elbow into the hole. It makes the water circulate around the pool and not out mostly to the middle. Skimmer will work better and any debris at the bottom of pool will collect in the center making it super fast and easy to get out. No need for a vacuum.

What an awesome idea.....I have had my pool I think thi is summer #4 and last yr those flimsy hoses were starting to act up.....I am going to look into this.....Thankyou!!!
I just put up a new pool 2 weeks ago, in a few weeks I’ll be making a new video with updated plumbing ideas. So before you make any changes look for that new video. Just waiting for the pool water to warm up a little 👍🏼
Forgive me if it's already been said, but you will get better filtration if you move the skimmer over to the inlet further from the outlet and push it as far away from the outlet as possible. Then point the outlet away from the inlets. This causes a swirl effect in the pool and really makes a difference.
Yeah I’ve had it in both inlets before you are correct it works best in The second one. And it’s hard to tell but I do have the return pointing away from the inlets. But the part intex gives you pushes the water more center then anything.

Hey Collin just curious what reducer's you used. Size is the being the main question. I have done some other mods for a fountain and used the fernco couplings. Thanks in advance!
@@danielbailey7596 I got some 1-1/2" to 1-1/4" schedule 40 rubber reducers from Lowe's. The 1-1/4" side was a bit oversized for the inlets from the pool, but I cranked them right and they aren't leaking.
Try and get away from the 1/2" inlet. On the inlet side you want the water to flow as freely as possible. I viewed and applied this setup to mine with some slight modifications. I used 1 inch pvc in the 2 ports from the pool. To make the (2) 1 inch pieces fit into the ports, I wrapped the ends of a pair of pliers with electrical tape and used the pliers to stretch out the ports to fit the 1 inch pvc. They obviously fit very snug after doing this and only needed 1 hose clamp on each. I also used my pvc cutter to cut the debris guards on the inside of the pool to about 1 inch in length to fit them in the ports to be able to use them.
I never thought of this but we are in the same boat with the hoses. Woulda been icing on the cake if you listed the PVC measurements in a quick grab list. It would have made it even easier for me to do. But even without that this is a great video! Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate the comment, yes after the fact I wish I had added that info. But just estimate and ballpark the length it won’t cost much at all. Good luck if you make one 👍
Not that easy to make a list. Every pool is different, every pump is different. You can only get an idea from these videos, at the end you have to find what parts work for you. I can say that I found every adapter I needed at my local Home Depot. Besides the adapters that came with my skimmer and Hayward pump and sand filter.
You know what may work vs the 3/4 and clamps is a rubber coupler reducer. I used them when going PVC and used it to and from pump and didnt leak. I also swapped all hoses with the flex PVC plus easier to adapt to my sand filter, when the clamp ever gets here. I like that you didnt have to cut a bigger hole. Sure better water flow and easier to put in fittings to go to 1.5 but not ready to cut. 1 wrong cut on hole and there you go.
I have thought about doing this too and never got around to it. I have been using a plant hook stand. Great job! Intex pool company should at least include a stand for the dangling hose’s.
Awesome job! I night a new house with a 20” version of this pool with the same filter set up. The hoses hanging are Jenky as hell and the weak point of the set up. 👍
Definitely a good idea and thought about doing this however I would not suggest it considering when the pool is occupied the pool flexes causing the rigid PVC to move which it is not meant to do and will cause leaks especially if kids are in the pool. If anything swap out the hard plumbing to durable flex PVC
Very nicely done. Thank you very much. I don’t know why they didn’t design something a little bit better than hoses that just hang there nicely done 💪🏼
@@LifeLessOrdinary I am also happy that you shared😁 your idea. One thing I have done with the skimmer is to add filter, floss or pillow, stuffing to catch even more of the microscopic bacteria.
I did something similar a few years ago only I put the PVC on the ground instead of on top of a stake or post ran it up to the ports and turned the 2 ports into jets with 45° elbows on them so that they are directional. I hooked the skimmer up to the other port that you ate using as a jet. I also hooked up a Hayward super pump and a cartridge filter for a permanent inground pool instead of the intex temporary pool equipment.
They look the same, I only pushed the pvc in half way. And the debris cover that goes on the inside I cut it back just a little so it still fits. It basically butts up to the pvc
I cut off about 3/4” of the adapter that you use to connect the basket inside the inlet, and it fits inside the hole. I didn’t push the pvc all the way inside so it gave me room.
@@LifeLessOrdinary thank you! I have rigged right now with a coupling and plumbers tape...lol I did push pvc all the way through. Maybe I need to back it out some.
How do you vacuum after installing this with the 3/4 pvc in both inlets? Neither the black plug nor the white adapter for the hose will fit in the holes now.
Great video! I’m just brainstorming in the comments to clean up the connection on the two ports from the pool to the pump. I’m trying to do it where I can still use my pool screen. One to keep debris from entering pump and the other to screw my skimmer onto.
Thanks 🙏🏼, yeah I’ve had a few saying they did a few different things with the ports. On mine I made it work with the screen and a skimmer. I didn’t put the PVC all the way through to holes. And I cut back the depth on the screen piece and on the skimmer so it met the pvc in the middle of the black rubber pipe. Hope this helps
I have two different videos on how I can vacuum. I’ll send you the links. ruclips.net/video/kKeAUQzelao/видео.html ruclips.net/video/5wpb5GsXXCc/видео.html
Put a little heat on the end of the original inlet pipe and then flare it by pushing about an inch of the 3/4 pvc into the end. Then you can slide the pvc into it and, viola, no leaks. I put a clamp anyway just for good measure.
Hi, what return outlet do you have? Is it directional that we can adjust to where we like to point? And how long you have your pool and do you have any rust and corrosion issues? Thanks!
Yes, I have a directional outlet, I tried to pointed to the side as much as possible, to kind of create a whirlpool. This is now my fifth season with the pool and no I have zero rust or corrosion issues.
@@LifeLessOrdinary Thanks alot for your reply. Could you send me a link or the name and manufacturer of your return outlet? I would like to buy the same. Thanks
question, the piece(s) that go inside the two openings that the old hoses suck the water thru (you didn't show the inside of the pool after you put it all together). Did you just leave it bare once you inserted the pipes and clamped it down?
My pool has covers that will block debris from going through the hole. What I did was cut those back a little bit so they didn’t go in as deep. And they pretty much met the PVC in the middle and worked just fine.
Did u upgrade your outward plunger? Where the water goes back into the pool my current pool is a 1.25 hole but need to do upgrade to 1.5 adapter to connect the pump.
That pipe was made Oct 11th, 2019 at 11:49am in Council Bluff Iowa just an fyi 😂. I work for Cresline in Henderson Ky and I look for the shift codes when i see our pipe in videos. Sorry its a habit lol. Good video.
@Life Less Ordinary Good deal, we just got a hard sode pool installed Saturday morning. Im going to pvc myself. Checking videos to see how people do it and any differences in any of them. Thanks for the video, i only have 1 inlet for the jet, so i wont have a double head pipe going in. But pretty much the same idea.
How does the new fitting do once people are in the pool? I’m sure it doesn’t flex with the pool. Does this cause any problems? Our pool is a soft sided pool, so I am wondering if this will work with our pool.
Curious if you can or have ran longer lines to move the pump. we have a rectangular Intex pool and pump is against fence and would like to extend lines to move it out from middle of pool to corner more.
All of the ribbed flexi hoses that Bestway/Intex/Coleman pools come with are crap and designed to fail, to force you to buy new ones, driving their revenue. I eventually replaced the big ones leading to and away from the pump/filter with two inch thread-reinforced hose from HD, and a lot of PVC fittings/adapters/barbs to make everything line up. I am sure much of that will be obsoleted by switching to a sand filter, but we'll see. The vinyl lines I replaced to the suction ports do fine until heated up, at which point they begin to collapse, letting air into the system. I like the PVC option and will try it. In the meantime, I keep a small tarp over everything to protect it from the Florida sun. Easy to replace when necessary.
So how then did you hook up your inside pool skimmer I’m having problems with getting air in the system so I think I’m going to try the hard plumbing system see how that works thanks
Hard plumbing is the way to go. When I had the inside skimmer, it comes with an adapter for one of the inlet holes. The other Hole I would leave open unless I needed more suction to the skimmer. Then I would plug it.
@@LifeLessOrdinary have you had any trouble with your sand filter ? Bought mine last year and now the pressure rises almost to red within an hour of a fresh back wash.
I made a video for it 👍🏼. The skimmer comes with a blue adapter that screws on the debris cover for one of the inlets. Then for better suction just cover the other inlet with on of the plugs. ruclips.net/video/Dd5lfIC4SUY/видео.htmlsi=DqgH2oM8rpuZECdL
@@LifeLessOrdinary thanks for replying!! I watched the video. Since the PVC sticks into the black rubber hole on the side of the pool, I had to cut the intex pool strainer to fit. The new pvc pipe is halfway in and the cut intex strainer is in the other half…if that makes sense. The strainer will not fit in a 3/4 or 1 inch pvc. Had to get creative. I believe when you made the video, you still had the old flexible tubing.
If your talking about the grey strainer cover that goes over the inlets on the inside of the pool, yes you can use those if you want. Is that what you are referring to?
I personally don’t use them, at first, I cut them back a little bit to fit in the hole better to meet the PVC in the middle. But after the first year of adding the PVC, I just don’t use them. If there’s any big piece of debris, it will get caught inside the pump filter No big deal.
You could also cut the hole of the pool out so you can fit those 2 inch inlets that come with the bigger Intex pools. I know there's a video of someone on yt that modified his pool from 1.25 inch to 1.5 connections.
I don’t have that skimmer anymore. I now have a Hayward. But yes, it’s frustrating when the water level changes it tries to float up. Unfortunately, just have to keep adjusting the height.
Great videos! In your fountain video you used the 1 1/2 to 40 mm adapters to connect to the intex hoses. However this video you just used a pvc male threaded end. So do I not necessarily need the 1 1/2 to 40mm adapters?
@Life Less Ordinary that's what I was going to use plus thinking about putting two shut offs on each side of the tee so I can shut just one side off to vacuum
I agree, these plastic tubes crack in the sun. I would definitely upgrade. But when the pool is in use the walls wobble so the pipes would make cracking noises surly. I think replacing everything to PVC apart from one small length of tubing to the pool wall to allow flexibility. Then just replace this part if they crack again.
I was curious if maybe running the pipe under the ball valve all the way down to the ground would be okay? I am going to do this conversion, but outlet pool sits on pavers. So, we Can’t drive a stake into the ground to brace it. I was thinking run a longer pipe down and having a type of pad to cushion it? Not really sure. Tossing around ideas.
Thanks for the video, with all that work you could replace that valves, like the one from the output, the only problem is that you need to make a bigger hole in the liner, but it will be more clean and you can close one when the skimmer is connected.
The is awesome. I'm planning to do this. Question: How do you connect that blue skimmer hose adapter that normally screws on to the inside of the pool? My guess is that we can skip the blue adapter and connect the skimmer hose directly to the inner wall?
I still use the blue adapter but I cut the inside shorter so it would fit inside along with the PVC that was on the other end. I appreciate the comment good luck on doing it to your pool.
That grate it a safety feature not just a debris filter. If there is enough suction and both inlets are covered it prevents vacuum entrapment by providing a gap.
Great video and explaining what you're doing. I have a Best way 12x20x52 that we bought last summer. I just bought a new 1.5hp sand filter pump combo and I'm getting ready to do the same with the PVC plumbing. But I'm going to put the cut off valve to where I can use either side to filter the water. I can do plumbing, but I hate it.. lol.. P.S. I think schedule 40 ¾ will be too big for the holes. I say that because I use a ½in coupling to go in and it was a tight fit.
Ok thanks I have mine partially plumbed but not those two small hoses. I was afraid when the kids got in it would flex to much and the plumbing wouldn’t hold up. Thanks.
Nice job, great explanation. I decided this year to move away from the cartridge filters to a sand filter. I found a bestway 800 gph sand filter for a good price, about what it would have cost in cartridges for the summer. Here’s my question, I have a similar size pool, 15’ x 48”. The top rating for this sand filter is 4200 gallon pool. Does anyone think it’s worth going to the next size up since I’m at the max pool size rating for a new pump and filter? I haven’t installed the new pump/filter yet as I’m trying to decide. Only paid about $135, but the next size up is well over $200. Only upgraded bc I didn’t like the waste of the cartridges. Pool cleanliness was not the issue.
I bet you will be OK with that size. But I would do a little more research on your end just to be sure. Maybe do some more Google searching and see if I come up in any pool forums.
I would love to do this but I am struggling with the support aspect of it. I have my pool on a concrete slab so I am unable to pound a post to support the weight. Thoughts?
Well it’s not so much to support the weight as it is to keep the bottom of it from leaning into the pool. It’s to keep it straight up and down. I bet if you could find a way to pad between the pvc and the pool that would work also.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I would think it would need some support to take the weight off of the inputs into the pool. There is a similar how to video and she used a plastic hook like used to hang ducts. The hook is on the top of the pool and she tied it all to the other end like a big macrame project.
I’m looking to do similar hard plumbing. How do the seals fare when the pool is bouncing around with swimmers. Everything looks pretty rigid. What do you think about using the stake on the flex hose to allow for some play while holding the weight of the pvc pipes?
Good video. The two inlet ports, did you keep the the parts that were originally used to connect tube to? I have that skimmer as well but need the stock inlet hardware to attach skimmer to. My problem is that stock inlet hardware goes all the way to outside where hose hooks up. How do you stick the 3/4” pvc into port and still be able to use your skimmer? It’s the same size diameter too. Does it just hang out more inside the pool instead of flush against?
Yes you can still run your skimmer into one of the inlet ports. If you can’t fit the adapter all the in you can cut the end just a little and it will fit better into the inlet.
Yeah we didn't do that. Thought about it after the fact. And I looked and It's a different skimmer that what you have. The one that goes on the inside of the pool not the outside. Do you like that skimmer? Also do you think it'll work now that we already have the pvc pipe in most of the inlet hole? Sorry for all the questions
Ok I understand what you’re talking about. What I did was slightly cut the part that goes from the inside into the hole which met the 3/4” inch PVC in the middle. I hope that makes sense.
How's it worked for you this long? was it worth it Curious though if you used a ball valve on each side would you be able to turn one side off and get more suction from one of the sides or is it the same suction (more power for a vaccum?) And did you use a vaccum with this? did it clog up easily around the bend requiring you to take it apart to get leaves out of it. From a nerd flow aspect would it work better if one of the pipes went straight down im toying with trying to pipe my pool to a small well house ~ 15 feet away, although slightly uphill which may cause issues..... and being able to convert it to PVC would make that more possible,.
What/where did you get the rubber fitting you made? And did you use the original o ring as well. Im assuming once the hose from filter connects to the pvc pipe there should be no wiggle between the two.
This channel literally saved my pool lol i was ready to shoot holes through it 🤣🤣🤣 now its crystal clear

@@LifeLessOrdinary thank you! I have rigged right now with a coupling and plumbers tape...lol I did push pvc all the way through. Maybe I need to back it out some.
Basically I pushed mine just enough to get a good hose clamp grip. Which gave me enough room to slide the adapter in on the other side
By doing this did youbget better suction power for the skimmer?
Yes because you can adjust the flow
Could you give a list of PVC used or a link to buy it.
There is a list in the description part of the video 👍🏼
I had the same size pool with the same filter but use salt water. Never had that problem but only used filters once and changed weekly.
How do you vacuum after installing this with the 3/4 pvc in both inlets? Neither the black plug nor the white adapter for the hose will fit in the holes now.
I put the end that I used to use the white adapter with directly into the skimmer hole
Thanks for making these videos
There’s a few that have helped out
That makes me very happy, I appreciate your comments and thank you for watching the videos 🙏🏼
I made this, and works good...my question is ...how do u vacuum the pool with this set up
I have two different videos on how I can vacuum. I’ll send you the links.

Great video thank you
I have a sand intex pump and I was wondering if you can explain which is the out and in
Thank you for the compliment. 🙏🏼 Out and in of the filter? I’m not sure what your question is.
Would be great if could have a list of what parts to buy. Looks great getting ready to up grade pool and this would be great to look better
There is a parts list in the description of this video
Put a little heat on the end of the original inlet pipe and then flare it by pushing about an inch of the 3/4 pvc into the end. Then you can slide the pvc into it and, viola, no leaks. I put a clamp anyway just for good measure.
That’s a great idea 👍🏼
where do you buy that hose that connects from the pvc to the filter basket Thanks
You can buy them in Amazon 👍🏼 they have different sizes
@@LifeLessOrdinary Thanks!
Thanks
Absolutely 👍🏼
Here is the return part amzn.to/3qoaQFN
This is what it connects to on the outside amzn.to/3N4mMpj
question, the piece(s) that go inside the two openings that the old hoses suck the water thru (you didn't show the inside of the pool after you put it all together). Did you just leave it bare once you inserted the pipes and clamped it down?
My pool has covers that will block debris from going through the hole. What I did was cut those back a little bit so they didn’t go in as deep. And they pretty much met the PVC in the middle and worked just fine.
I love this, well done. I am inspired.
Did u upgrade your outward plunger? Where the water goes back into the pool my current pool is a 1.25 hole but need to do upgrade to 1.5 adapter to connect the pump.
No I don’t change the return side. If you make that end larger it won’t circulate your pool because of low pressure.
Good man - thanks for this - I need to do a similar conversion on my pool just because of hose lengths and other reasons. This looks straightforward..
I appreciate that comment, good luck working or your setup 👍🏼
That's so cool you made it a lot stronger
Cool thanks, been trying to hard pipe our pool. Dimensions helped tremendously
I’m glad it helped 👍
That pipe was made Oct 11th, 2019 at 11:49am in Council Bluff Iowa just an fyi 😂. I work for Cresline in Henderson Ky and I look for the shift codes when i see our pipe in videos. Sorry its a habit lol. Good video.
Lol that’s pretty cool. Well it was well made because it’s still going strong 💪
Well good luck it and enjoy that new pool
Your list of part says 1 1/2 ball valve but the Amazon like you have is for a 1 inch. Which one is it?
You would need 1.5” the seller on that link must have changed it. I’ll find a new link to post 👍🏼
I did this to mine and it works so great.
How does the new fitting do once people are in the pool? I’m sure it doesn’t flex with the pool. Does this cause any problems? Our pool is a soft sided pool, so I am wondering if this will work with our pool.
Starting my fourth season with it, I’ve never had any issues 👍🏼
Curious if you can or have ran longer lines to move the pump. we have a rectangular Intex pool and pump is against fence and would like to extend lines to move it out from middle of pool to corner more.
I don’t see that being a problem at all
All of the ribbed flexi hoses that Bestway/Intex/Coleman pools come with are crap and designed to fail, to force you to buy new ones, driving their revenue.
Yeah I agree the hoses that come with it are crap, you will love a pvc upgrade
Did you use the plastic inserts that came with the pool for the inside of your intakes ( the ones the screen screw onto ) ???
Me personally no I don’t, I don’t find that they help much
So how then did you hook up your inside pool skimmer I’m having problems with getting air in the system so I think I’m going to try the hard plumbing system see how that works thanks
Hard plumbing is the way to go. When I had the inside skimmer, it comes with an adapter for one of the inlet holes. The other Hole I would leave open unless I needed more suction to the skimmer. Then I would plug it.
This video shows how I run my system now.
ruclips.net/video/uWq2HbUBGuU/видео.html
Looked all over for something like this and really appreciate this video!
Thank you very much I’m glad it helped
I upgraded to a sand filter and skimmer system last year. Cost more than the pool and now all my hoses leak. Gotta love Florida
My hoses went bad also, but after doing the pvc it’s been working great 👍
Not any more. The price of the pools skyrocketed
@@LifeLessOrdinary have you had any trouble with your sand filter ? Bought mine last year and now the pressure rises almost to red within an hour of a fresh back wash.
No I’ve had no trouble at all. Have you taken it apart yet after first installing it? You can get debris trapped inside the top part of the big barrel
@@LifeLessOrdinary yes I even replaced all the sand thinking it may help, I'm not sure what else to do! Must be an issue with the pump.
I know you have upgraded to a Hayward skimmer since this video, but how did you use the intex skimmer with the 3/4” pvc?
I made a video for it 👍🏼. The skimmer comes with a blue adapter that screws on the debris cover for one of the inlets. Then for better suction just cover the other inlet with on of the plugs.

Do you have a part list somewhere I’m missing?
Open up the description part of the video and scroll down you will see it
Awesome Videos, very helpful! Just to clear ip, your PVC pipe replace the Pool inlet Strainer?
If your talking about the grey strainer cover that goes over the inlets on the inside of the pool, yes you can use those if you want. Is that what you are referring to?
@@LifeLessOrdinary Yeah, I like the idea of removing it and sticking with the pvc.
Correct that might be something I do soon
How do you keep your skimmer down? I have the same pool and skimmer and mine is always floating up bc neither of the hooks properly fit on the edge.
I don’t have that skimmer anymore. I now have a Hayward. But yes, it’s frustrating when the water level changes it tries to float up. Unfortunately, just have to keep adjusting the height.
Thanks. I'm in the process of ordering everything from Amazon now to get this switched over.
can you show how you have your vacuum hose hooked up? We cant hook it to the covers just wondering how you have yours hooked up please
Great videos! In your fountain video you used the 1 1/2 to 40 mm adapters to connect to the intex hoses. However this video you just used a pvc male threaded end. So do I not necessarily need the 1 1/2 to 40mm adapters?
I would use the adapters because the pvc thread is just a tiny bit different so in some situations I needed heavy Teflon tape.
@@LifeLessOrdinary Thanks! Overnighted some and will give it a go tomorrow!
Robert Rackley let me know how it all turns out
How do you vacuum the pool after you put different pipes
Here’s a link to a video on how I vacuum now
ruclips.net/video/kKeAUQzelao/видео.html
What about a fernco fitting from the pool to the pvc?
I’ve seen lots of people using that 👍🏼
@Life Less Ordinary that's what I was going to use plus thinking about putting two shut offs on each side of the tee so I can shut just one side off to vacuum
Yes, next season once I put up my new pool that’s what I’ll be doing 👍🏼
Having exactly this hose issue today, went looking for exactly this type of video. Thank you so much!!!
That’s great glad the video helps 👍 good luck with it
dont put your legs in backwards like his or it will move
I agree, these plastic tubes crack in the sun. I would definitely upgrade. But when the pool is in use the walls wobble so the pipes would make cracking noises surly. I think replacing everything to PVC apart from one small length of tubing to the pool wall to allow flexibility. Then just replace this part if they crack again.
I’ve had really good luck with my set up, haven’t had any flexibility issues yet knock on wood.
So happy I found this video!!!
Thank you so
Much Ashley
Excellent job you did. Great seeing you. Enjoy your pool.
This was easy and worked well for my Coleman pool (intex clone, I think), but we have the same pump. Thanks!
Thank you
You might consider just plugging the two inlets and put in a wall skimmer. Easy to do and works a whole lot better.
Do you have a video?
@@tanyamorrison418 look up installing Hayward skimmer in Coleman or bestway pool. I found it.
I have a question I was trying to do this done brought everything that u listed, however I don’t understand what is the threaded part size?
The threads are 2”, that’s the part that connects to the intex pump hose
I was curious if maybe running the pipe under the ball valve all the way down to the ground would be okay? I am going to do this conversion, but outlet pool sits on pavers. So, we
Can’t drive a stake into the ground to brace it.
I was thinking run a longer pipe down and having a type of pad to cushion it? Not really sure. Tossing around ideas.
I think it would be perfectly fine if you added a longer pipe down to the ground
Thanks for the video, with all that work you could replace that valves, like the one from the output, the only problem is that you need to make a bigger hole in the liner, but it will be more clean and you can close one when the skimmer is connected.
I’ve thought about it for sure, i’m just gonna leave it the way it is it’s running pretty good. Thank you for the comment 👍
So did you just leave the adapters that go inside for the intake off?
I cut them a little so they would fit inside up to the pvc.
Why does the PVC work without the air valve that comes with the original system?
I’m not sure which air valve you’re talking about?
How did you connect the flexible hose to the threaded adapter? Hose clamp?
They were both 2” It just screwed on, but I did use that little rubber O ring to seal it better.
I just realized that others had the same question. I should have read more comments. But thanks.
No worries I hope it works for you
I love this where did you get the valve
Ace hardware
That grate it a safety feature not just a debris filter. If there is enough suction and both inlets are covered it prevents vacuum entrapment by providing a gap.
Very important if you run the pump while bathers are in the pool.
Let me know how it all turns out 👍
Great work!!
Thanks for the info. I am going to Lowe’s now for sure. 👍🏻
How is it holding up when your inside the pool? These pools have a lot of flex and movement when people are in them.
I’ve had zero issues thankfully, I think this year will be the 5th season of having it. I got 4 young kids and the pool flexes like crazy.
Give it a try, I bet that idea would work 👍🏼
Hi what size plug u use to plug the pool
I just have an extension cord from Home Depot running from the house to the pump
What size plug I use to stop the water from coming out so I can change it to do the PVC pipe

I’m looking to do similar hard plumbing. How do the seals fare when the pool is bouncing around with swimmers. Everything looks pretty rigid. What do you think about using the stake on the flex hose to allow for some play while holding the weight of the pvc pipes?
I’m going on year three now and I’ve never had any issues with the flex of the pool and the pvc 👍🏼
Yes I kept it all the same, on the skimmer I just cut the skimmer inlet adapter short enough it meets the p c in the middle of the opening.
Hi, we’ve never met, but your my new best friend.
Lol hey works for me
nice job trying to find your video about your lights

How do you vacuum the pool if you have to have the part that you took off?
I’m not sure what part you are talking about?
Melanie you can email me if you want to explain the exact part you’re talking about. Dirtpooroutdoors16@gmail.com
Can you still hook up a skimmer to one of the outputs? If you made that pvc thing. We just set it up and I was like oh can We hook up the skimmer now.
Yes you can still run your skimmer into one of the inlet ports. If you can’t fit the adapter all the in you can cut the end just a little and it will fit better into the inlet.
OK. I totally forgot about the skimmer when we made the PVC thing and now I don't know if it's gonna fit in the hole Or not
I think we may have put the pvc pipe in too far
It will but I cut mine when I still used that skimmer so it would fit into the inlet until it met the pvc
How were you able to connect the Intex skimmer you have in this video without the grey piece that it threads into?
I made a video on that install 👍🏼

For the skimmer on this mod how did u connect it to the 3/4 pipe
The intex floatable skimmer comes with a blue adapter that screws onto the debris cover.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I get that but u have to slide the 3/4 pipe in as well on the outside I guess I need to think about it more
Ok I understand what you’re talking about. What I did was slightly cut the part that goes from the inside into the hole which met the 3/4” inch PVC in the middle. I hope that makes sense.
@@LifeLessOrdinary lol ok half n half explains it well enough
How's it worked for you this long? was it worth it
Curious though if you used a ball valve on each side would you be able to turn one side off and get more suction from one of the sides or is it the same suction (more power for a vaccum?)
And did you use a vaccum with this? did it clog up easily around the bend requiring you to take it apart to get leaves out of it.
From a nerd flow aspect would it work better if one of the pipes went straight down
im toying with trying to pipe my pool to a small well house ~ 15 feet away, although slightly uphill which may cause issues..... and being able to convert it to PVC would make that more possible,.
I’ll be opening the pool up again next month and it’s still going strong. 👍
I’m sure you could but what I do is just plug one side of I want more suction 👍 and no it’s never clogged up from debris
What/where did you get the rubber fitting you made? And did you use the original o ring as well. Im assuming once the hose from filter connects to the pvc pipe there should be no wiggle between the two.
I made my o ring out of a sheet of rubber about a 1/4” thick, I cut it out
What sand filter pump are you using?
