Wow you’re the dad my husband and I needed 😂 this is awesome. We are installing our intex on Tuesday! You’re so appreciated for this video
You just made my day thank you for that comment. Good luck with your install if you have any questions my email is on the main page. 👍🏼
Great tip on smoothing the floor before adding water
Thank you for the thorough review/ install. Just purchased this pool and feel like this just made my first above ground pool project a lot easier. Subscribed and looking forward to the upcoming videos/plumbing updates. 👍🏻
Here you go it’s already done 👍🏼

Just installed mine today. Used your tips. Waiting on it to fill up now!
Mine lasted 6 or 7 years too. Set up is tomorrow, good refresher vid. Thanks! 52” is the way to go if possible.
Thank you! We just bought the same one! Getting the top pieces wet helps them slide easily.
Great video!! Thank you for posting this as it took me a week to connect and in the length of this video I completed the setup! Love RUclips and creators like you!
Thank you so much, that was so kind of you to say
Great video and just the info I needed for my upcoming install. I’m planning my install for June 2nd. Thanks for the video tutorial. Your pool looks awesome and perfectly level, impressive.
Thank you Jeff,
Thank you for showing me how easy home pool care can be!
Thank you for that very nice comment
We are setting up a 12x48 and we have always done pavers (with the last one that lasted so long. But this one seems sooo tight. Don’t have much more in it then to the band on the sides. Watching this while it filled and decided to drain some and bury the pavers. Great idea. Thank you!
I’m glad the video helped
Best video on intex pool set up I've seen, should be linked on the intex website!
I lost my original ultra frame to a storm about 3 years ago, and these xtr models look to be a step up in materials and I like darker colors as well
Thank you so much. I appreciate that comment very much.
I just can’t thank you enough. So clear and easy to understand with great videos.
Thank you so much
Thank you for the instructions
Great vid
Thank you so much I appreciate your comment. 🙏🏼
Great video.... thanks for being so detailed.
This is the video you want to watch if you are installing an intex above ground pool, or just looking for tips!
I appreciate that very much
I didn’t even look at the instructions , this guy rocks! Thanks for the great video. Going to check out your skimmer video next.
@anthonycruz9192 I appreciate the very kind comment
Perfect, helped me out a lot thanks
You should cover the top and sides of the T-joints with something... water gets between them and then through the spring button connections and inside the posts and it starts rusting from the inside. A wide piece of flex-seal tape would work well. They sell 12" wide rolls.
That definitely might be the case in some areas but luckily it’s very dry here and in 7 years it’s never affected my pool. But definitely a good idea 👍🏼
@@LifeLessOrdinary Oh you're lucky, in the northeast every car I've ever had was killed by rust on the body, not by anything mechanical.
@Chris-xo2rq I know exactly what you mean, lived up north years ago
This is going to help us set up our pool in the midwest here so much; just in time for summer! Thank you!
Nice video. I can’t wait til I get good weather to put the pool up. Chicago still cold unfortunately
Thank you, it’s still a little cool to swim here but wanted to get the up and running. Have fun this pool season.
Very detailed info. I had sand under my recent pool and it was awful and so unlevel. Trying to get ideas of what to substitute the sand with. Thanks for the video and helpful tips on recycling the old pool liner.
Thank you for the kind comment 👍🏼
Thanks bro your the man 👍
Thanks. Really enjoyed this video. We’re looking at the 15x48 Intex.
You will love it
Very nice pool setup😊
Thank you 🙏🏼
Very helpful video
pool videos are finally back, loved watching these
I got lots planned this season 👍🏼
Love ur videos !! Im fixing to install this same exact pool this video came at the right time , What type of sand do i need for the Sand Pump ?
Thank you so much for the kind words. I use the Sand from Ace Hardware but pretty much any pool sand will work just fine. Quikrete makes one and the HTH brand is also good.
Iam very glad I found your video as I was looking for help. I have blocks similar to your set up with the legs on it. We are as level as can be. However the legs in parts are not straight. When we adjust one leg it causes the other leg to move or revert. Are there any risks to a pool collapse if legs are slightly off level and what is the best way to combat the legs from shifting when adjusting ?
If they are a little off it will be just fine. The only way I found to keep them straight is to keep checking them every 30 mins during the first fill.
Just gor my first sand filter, the Vevor 3500 GPH that you had on your old pool. Would you use sand or pool filter balls? Thanks.
Me personally I prefer sand but I’ve seen people use the balls.
Love your videos! We just set up a 20’x52” Intex XTR. I think we got the same filter and pump that you have. Do you run the pump continuously? Or do you run it on a preset time, if so how long?
Hope you enjoy your new pool I like to run at eight hours on eight hours off personally
I just got the new 20x52 Intex prism pool replacing my 22x52 Coleman. I’m very familiar with pools except the setup. I always had my teenager and her friends help in the past. When putting the rails in the top do you have any idea why it’s so tight and causing the liner to like buldge at the top on the inside of the pool.?
It’s always a very tight fit that’s what gives the pool stability once it’s full of water but I’m not sure about the bulging.
Do you disassemble your pool in the winter? I had Intex pools in the past and I live in south Louisiana where are winters are minimal, I've always left mine up. Don't know if I just got lucky, or is it recommended to take it down each year.
I think it really depends on how hard of a winter your area gets. I leave my pool up in the winter, just try to cover it as best as I can. We do get freezing weather all winter but luckily I’ve never had any issues.
What kind of wood ru useing for the legs , Cause im going to do the wood peices as well burying pavers is way to time consumeing for me
Just had scraps of pine in my shop 👍🏼
How far apart did you set your pavers for the legs? I ordered the exact same pool and already leveled the area but want to dig in some pavers so the site is ready for the pool as soon as it arrives but can’t find anything online about the distance between the legs.
If you’re talking about under the legs, I put those in as I put the pull-up, so I didn’t pre-measure. If I were you I would wait until the pool is up and then dig them into the ground because the pool will move a lot while installing. If that makes sense.
This has to be the best setup video out there. Thanks so much for it. Just about to order this pool. Where did purchase from?
Thank you we got it at Academy Sports. You can get great deals late summer they go on sale
May I please have a link to the video that shows you upgrading the cheaper tubing?
Here you go
ruclips.net/video/4gmdtYiSq9g/видео.htmlsi=bIAnJCkFzxel2nJr
In some videos, they say to back wash first? And what sand? Just got a Intex Ultra pool and working on setting it up. Thank you! Very helpful!
Just go to the local hardware store and ask for pool sand it will work. There’s just many different brands.
I have the same exact pool, when ur up and it’s running, what’s the return into the pool pressure my pressure is not very strong.
Plug one of your ports, that’ll help. I know personally I’ve never used both
Thank you SO much for this very easy to follow along tutorial video! We bought the same pool and we are so glad we found your video, it was a breeze to do! Do you have info or a video on how you built your deck? We were wanting to build one almost exact to yours.
Thank you so much for that comment and here is the video on my deck

@@LifeLessOrdinary thank you! 😊
Anything you would suggest if I don’t have pine ready to have under?
You can really use anything strong any type of wood will work just try and keep it dry. Maybe wrap it in think plastic
@@LifeLessOrdinary you’re the man thank you, just found some nice wood pieces at about 6”. Will wrap in tarp and hope for the best lol
Perfect 👍🏼
Is there anything that goes in the last hose setup before connecting the hose to the filter pump? I can't get mine to slide on it to screw the hose in. should it have a gasket anywhere on it? (the hose that connects to the pool valve one)
The return valve putting the water back into the pool? That valve should slide down into the hose. It’s a tight fit but should go
Thanks, got it with a little vaseline .
Dang that thing was tight wow, glad you got it 👍🏼
do you run the filter pump 24hrs / 7 days a week? Can you run it on a timer on during the day off during the late nights?
I typically run my pump eight hours on eight hours off
Did u need permit to install pool. My town in NJ requires a permit and pool has to be bonded
One of the benefits of living in the country no we don’t need any permits for the pool or to build the deck.
Is the intex pool pump supposed to leak a little bit from the pre filter basket?
There should be no leaking at all
You take this down every season or leave it up in the winter?
No, I don’t take it down. But I do have a winter cover I put over it.
The previous Coleman pool I had was white on the sides and fiberglass began flaking off. It looks like the liner on this is the same on sides as it is on the bottom. Is this the case? I just do not want to purchase a pool that has a fiberglass flaking issue again. Thanks.
This particular pool is made with 3 separate pieces of a laminated PVC material.
Is there a certain kind of sand that goes into the filter??
I use the #20 grade pool sand, I found it at Ace Hardware
Do you tear down each season and store your pool indoors?
No but I do remove the pump and plumbing and then cover the pool.
What gauge should the pump be on? Mine isn’t even touching green.
How old is your pool? Yes it should be in the green especially right after doing a backwash
Wife decided its to hot in South Texas and we need a pool... this video really helped alot, i was so confused....i can build decks, remodel our home and add LVP flooring in our home... but setting up a pool scares me lol
lol, you got this
@LifeLessOrdinary just got done today and it was off by 1/2 on levelness..... can't complain you can't tell kids and wife loved it. Now I'm figuring out material for a deck 8x15 💪
@adrftgvvbh that’s awesome yeah 1/2 is no big deal at all 👍🏼
i just finished my PVC conversion on my 16x10 Coleman pool. Does the PVC coming out of the pool being flat have any effect of flow and pressure?
Do you mean as far as the old tubes being flexible in bendable? If that’s what you’re talking about no it has zero effect.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I just see your old pvc setup and other videos, and the PVC comes out of the pool flat or level with the ground, then to a T, where as the flexible hoses all just sag and loop downward towards the filter. Does the flat area have any effect of flow? I'm guessing not because I see lots of videos with the similar setup.
@julesgoulet7868 nope no restrictions at all 👍🏼
@julesgoulet7868 I made that video a few years ago and I’m now getting ready to make a new video on updating the plumbing 👍🏼
@@LifeLessOrdinary I plan on watching it.
Any leaks problems? I was about to purchase a pool but I saw a lot of bad reviews stating the pools were leaking from the seams like a production quality issue, and Intex was not being helpful to resolved the issue.
Luckily, I have had zero issues with my pool 👍🏼
Do you leave your pool up all year long?
Yes I do. I have a video on how I close it for winter.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I actually just watched it! Thanks for the reply! 😃
Did you touch on power? How is your pool powered ? Is it an outside electrical socket or its own power? Asking because we just bought a pool and these extra costs are adding up..
I run a heavy duty extension cord from the house to the pool.
He never talks about running a an extension cord from the house you shouldn't do that
Use your own judgment I have use an extension cord for 10 years
Do you leave it up in winter?
I do 👍🏼 I have a video on what I do in the winter
Did you have any issues with your vevor pump from last season?
Not at all that thing works awesome. Since I got a new pump with the pool I’m using the intex pump but keeping my Vevor in my storage unit as a back up Incase I ever have an issue.
@@LifeLessOrdinary thank you for the response and content! Keep up the good work! God bless!
Thank you so much
Do you have a video showing how you leveled your ground if it wasn’t already leveled?
Unfortunately I don’t. But I know there are some other videos out there if you do a search for leveling above ground pool ground
@@LifeLessOrdinary ok I didn’t think so. Your videos are always detailed and informative so that’s why I asked
@marcihill4662 I really appreciate that very much. You are always welcome to email me any questions. I’d be happy to help. My email is on the about page 👍🏼
@@LifeLessOrdinary thanks so much!!
What kinds of extension cord did you use to run it to your home? I don’t believe I caught that tip in your video, It’s been very helpful by the way!
For the pool, I just use a regular orange extension cord from Home Depot
@@LifeLessOrdinary thanks for getting back so quickly!
Is that P57 stone in the bottom? How it did it cause I am about to set up mine Intex 18×9×52" and I already got the P57 stone in place...plz
I have gravel in my patio, can you set the pool on top of gravel without damaging the floor ?
I would not put the pool on top of gravel no. You will feel every single pebble.
No, I’m using a smooth river rock
@LifeLessOrdinary maybe I can put the liner on top of the gravel and then the pool, otherwise imma have to remove the gravel 😮
@luislabadie7580 if it were me I would clear the gravel. No matter what you lay down you will feel the rocks
I wish you would’ve recorded the last joint installation
Sorry about that. Just make sure you have two people, clip one side and then pull back a lot of pressure and the other piece will go in.
Do you still recommend the Vevor pump and filter system?
Absolutely I have it in my storage as my backup since I got this brand new pump with the new pool.
@@LifeLessOrdinary Thanks. Another question, what would you recommend to go around the bottom of the pool? Gravel or mulch or something like that?
@Mr556man well I’ve had mulch for years but this year I switched to rock and wow it looks amazing. I’m sold on the look of the rock 👍🏼
@@LifeLessOrdinary Thank you. I am revamping our pool setup, so I might be picking your brain here and there
@Mr556man absolutely anytime you have a question let me know
i have the same pool, my angle connects do not have the center leg button. both sides have the white push button but the center does not
I have the same issue. Bought a 24’. The legs have the holes but the T Adapters don’t have button on bottom for legs to click. No sense!
Do you bond it or ground it? Is it necessary?
No, it is not necessary with these pools 👍🏼
The t adapters didn’t come with a button for the legs. They told me it was a slightly older model. I bought a 24 XTR I don’t know what they’re talking about
How much sand for the filter?
I bought 1 bag and didn’t use all of it but probably 3/4
Im using a sand base and digging a trench about 1 ft deep and 1 ft around the pool
The sand base is a smart idea, I am curious as to what the trench is for?
Do you have to ground these pools
No
Can it be any kind of sand
No make sure it’s for pools
Thank you for the video, the best one I found on this exact pool. Smoothing out the bottom now. 😂
The bottom is always a good time lol
Got mine up today but didn’t see anything for the legs to click into. I put the holes in upward position.
I have the same issue. No buttons for legs. Makes no sense.
Why is it important to get all the wrinkles out??
If you use a robot vacuum cleaner on the button for instance.
Also the creases give a place for the algae to cluster and built and it will be impossible for you to clean out
I’m still so confused
One step at a time my email is on my main page. If you have any questions feel free.
hand screw!! it's plastic
Mine lasted 6 or 7 years too. Set up is tomorrow, good refresher vid. Thanks! 52” is the way to go if possible.
I agree love this size, good luck tomorrow
