The beautiful concept here is that you've got your land-based RV as well as water based RV and she has all the room you need while not burning much fuel.. I've seen other RUclipss going and doing the Great Loop and it reminds me of the ancient times in this country of The Shanty boats she is beautiful along with the classic curved roof wood interior blessings to you and yours
"Ready to enjoy" is what I was looking for. We aren't promised tomorrow and would rather spend 600 hours on the boat with my girls than 600 hours in the barn building. Hope you enjoy the videos.
My wife and I have the first boat that this builder launched. It is exactly like yours but only 17 feet long with a 20hp motor. We purchased it from a couple who bought it from the builder and never put it in the water. The paint scheme (using tape as stripes) and the interior seats are the same material. Ours was built in Anderson Indiana but we have not been able to speak with the builder. Roy, the designer, has many videos and I am sure you have watched them and know quite a bit about it's capabilities. Because of the hull design don't expect it to be very fast but it is great for lakes and rivers.
I'm sorry that I'm just now seeing your comment. For some reason RUclips doesn't notify me on all of them. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same builder. Mine drafts only four inches at the back. With a 30 hp power outboard she only travels 7 mph top speed. But, that fine as my monohull sailboats only go about 7 top speed also. I'm older and getting there fast is not a priority in my life.
Hey Mat, that is stunning version of the Dianne’s Rose. So many great ideas. I’m gonna have to steal some of them. I’m very happy for you and I’m looking forward to seeing your adventures!
Always a good idea to look at different models to get the best ideas. I'm glad the walk through video was helpful. Just so happens the log home that my family and I built for my late wife and I was a collection of different builds I've seen or lived in over the years.
Lol, you call it luck, I call it stubbornness and determination. I've been looking for this design for well over a year and this vessel in particular, I've been watching for many months waiting patiently for it to hit the price point I was willing to pay. There was one other within driving distance of me, but their price point is considerably higher.
Nice boat. That is a well thought out design. I need see if I can find one. A look at some of these so called house boats and they always seem to be lacking in something practical. I had a boat awhile back and always thought the horn was a bit to blah. I sold it before I saw it at harbor freight, an electrical ooga horn. It would be a perfect little horn for the hello to shore or ship to ship. I bet it would be easy to find something louder for the emergency. Have a button for the ooga and put a pull cord like a big rig would have above the helm for the louder horn.
As long as you don't plan on taking it to the Mississippi or similar. Certain conditions like a small wind and the current will have you at a stop even at full throttle. A friend has a similar house boat and after three motors he has a 60HP 4cycle. In calm water he can do 6 Knots at a low fuel use cruise. Any headwind cuts it to 2-3 Knots. Full throttle will get him 8 knots and triple the fuel usage. so to keep economy he cruises at 2,000 RPM. Great boat!
I had a friend out with me on The Oasis today and I was explaining the exact same thing to him. IF I did go out into the Mississippi I would be committed and at the point of no return. In for the long haul to do the great loop going down stream.
@@mathewdavis-adventuresandd6643 Ya, my friend got caught at one lock. Had to wait for a barge and needed to back up up stream against the current and a wind. To turn around he would have been broadside to the wind and swept away. With 60 HP he made 3 knots..... Otherwise if he had a lesser motor he would have been up against a lock gate when they opened, got run down by the exiting barge or had to run up against the dam. No good choices. Have plenty of HP.
@@myfavoritemartian1 Good point. I was actually thinking about reaching out to Roy the designer and see what he thought of a 50 or 60 hp outboard. I don't need anything fast but 7 mph max speed could get me in a tight spot in heavy winds or current.
It's the exact same as an RV awning with a two handed crank. I've used them already, but didn't have a free hand to film. I'll see if I can get it in a future shot.
That's a sweet little boat. I've been yearning for something like that. Same as you, I need one light enough to pull with a 150 size truck. I'm curious about how she tracks in a cross-wind and how the 30 Hp handles a headwind. I know you don't need to go fast, but sometimes you need a bit of power just to deal with the weather. Are you sure that the little paint crack above the door is fiberglassed? Seeing the tongue & groove joints there makes me wonder. I'm subscribing to hear more. Looks like a blast. 👍 Btw, where are you located?
Thanks for watch the video. I've only had The Oasis for less than 2 months and haven't had it in a bad blow yet. What weather I have had it in, it has performed very well, although big waves from the side are very unpleasant while at anchor. The top has at least one coat of fiberglass on it and the impression of the joint shows through and all cracks have been sealed up until I can stripped everything down and give it another paint job. That deck has to be changed to a white nonskid. I'm located in Norman, Oklahoma and I'm lucky enough to live 1/2 mile from one of the boat ramps. I'll be exploring many more lakes though.
Face Book market place is where I watched several houseboats come and go. I at first was looking for a tritoon with a trashed interior that I could build into a houseboat. Then I came across the Dianne's Rose design and changed course.
Well, if you’re experiencing different lakes around the neighbourhood or countries come up to Alberta Canada to Pincher creek area and I’ll take you to a beautiful lake. Guaranteed the kits five fish in less than an hour.
I'm already traveling to some of the local lakes in my state. I've only had it less than two months at the time of this comment. As I tweak a few things making improvements here and there, I'll start venturing out farther.

Thank you. I'm considering some long journeys after I'm comfortable with all the systems and how she handles weather conditions.
Beautiful house boat ready to enjoy

You got lucky to find such a nice one. It looks like an awesome boat. Very well thought out.

Nice video. Great boat. That RV+ is what I've been preaching about for years. Almost a "tiny" house on wheels. Good Luck with your adventures.
$$$?
Thank you very much. Glad you are enjoying the videos. It is very nearly a tiny house.
Cool Boat
Thanks
Mathew, I would love a short video on the awnings in action.
That’s a sweet rig. You did well!!

Curious where you shop for used house boats? Great video, thanks!

Boss Audio. They make systems for marine environments.
