9:32 biggest pet peeve about the halo community is they always try to explain every little graphical, gameplay, art, music change with LORE. like jesus stfu its a video game, it doesn't need an in universe reason for why the creators felt like changing something for better or for worst

I know, this kind of shit is why I hate lore nerds in general (except for MatPat). They overcomplicate things to the point where their explanations are more intricate than the game designers could even think of for story.

I love lore but when people force 343 to come up with the reason for why 343 changed the artstyle that's when it starts to get annoying. I'm not a fan of some aspects of the new artstyle but I don't like how 343 was forced or at least felt like they where forced to explain Nano-bots into the lore of halo to change Cheif's armor.
@@NeedSleep1917 the thing I dislike most about needing to justify the artstyle with lore - is that it means they'd need to justify changing it back with even MORE lore, or otherwise changing it again. While Halo 2, 3, and Reach only gave the most threadbare justifications for the changes if any. It was just "this is how it looks now, shut up & enjoy."

I think as a fan of the later halos it’s cool, as a fan of the books it’s really cool with the level and character additions. As a fan of the original experience it’s... different.

Honestly I think that terminal does a good job at being horrifying. It’s obviously supposed to be Keyes’s thoughts being overtaken by the Gravemind, categorizing it as “incest” just seems straight up wrong, I’m pretty sure the Flood’s idea of reproduction doesn’t really happen in that sense lol.

Character 1 has a mental breakdown that involves copious use of the word "reproduce", increasingly aimed at his daughter. They knew what they were doing, even if it technically "isn't" incest on the barest of technicalities.

They use your knowledge, and occasionally use your personality and voice to communicate, but their characterisation in SPV3's terminals is absolutely awful. This isn't Resident Evil. All they need to "reproduce" is organic mass. They are characterized by bloodlust, vengeance, and intelligence, but they don't have any need to torment the subjects they already have captured with weird horrifying sexual fantasies.

See to be fair, that surgeon might be some prestige level lumberjack/woodland medic hybrid class. There was this guy who came to our jazz jam with a chainsaw. Hit some crazy false harmonics. Turns out you can play a pretty funky chainsaw if you put in the time.

odst's have special VISR stuff to see enimies outlines in the dark but i can remember in odst where you did atcually use it, the allies either didnt ahve a helmet on, didnt use it, or when they were suppossedly using it they couldnt spot an enemy that was right in their line fo sight

I feel its more analogous to skyrim overhaul mods, it's like yes it can keep the game fresh, and they are fun, but they arent all "good" in the sense that you would call the base game "good".
I love the skyrim mod that turns dragons into Thomas the tank engine, but that doesn't mean I want an ES game with train dragons

Spv3 is a mod for halo custom edition..spv3 means single player version 3,as that team has made previous efforts to alter the single player experience of CE's maps.Halo custom edition is itself a modded framework of Halo combat evolved PC which you can download for free...then you just need to get the maps for the maps folder...A game is an artificial situation whereby the participant or participants attempt to achieve pre set goals based on pre defined rules or definitions....Oversplaining...Yeah.

The beta, pre-release SPv3 remake of Truth and Reconciliation was legitimately better than base game. Post release, the whole thing jumped the shark.
The Silent Cartographer Evolved is pretty good.

This video did a great job explaining my problems with SPV3. The dedication that went into it can't be understated, but the final product left a lot to be desired.
In the realism vs cartoony debate, people always forget that neither are the goal. Plausibility is the goal. No matter the art style, you generally want the characters and the world they inhabit to feel like they could exist somewhere.

What bothered me in anniversary was the ending. You can hear the ring exploding and tearing itself apart from outer space while in the original, it was completely silent. You watched it explode to pieces with nothing but the ominous soundtrack. Can't even properly see what's going on in anniversary because the flames are covering up the screen
To explain that the devs left a microphone on the ring in the ship, just so your ears can have a first hand experience of what it sounded like.

I would say the original intention is to emulate how it'd sound in space: like nothing. Space doesn't echo sound because there isn't an atmosphere. DESPITE THAT, it's a lot cooler when it DOES have sound because that's LESS BORING.

First leaks looked horrible. Textures were flat and the lighting system was breaking even in the demo footage. Looks good now but that's not what people were mad at.

Someone has to say it: SPV3 is Halo's "Cinematic Mod".
It unironically is, the main guy behind it (Masterz) is just as much a laughingstock as the guy behind Cinematic Mod. He unironically thinks Halo 2 and 3 are bad, and thinks Halo 5 is good. He made the Energy Sword an armor ability for.. some reason, instead of an actual weapon because he doesn't like how it is an actual weapon in the mainline Halo games. He still defends that Keyes terminal to this day.
He's also been banned from several Halo modding communities because of how he behaves towards others. SPV3 is chockful of his weird takes affecting the mod's gameplay

SPV3 was a fun experience....and that's all it needed to be. It's no masterful redesign of the original halo, and the mod team literally agrees with the sentiment. It's meant to be a new experience, not a replacement for the original game.

The number of people who watched your original review, which included you bashing on the "More is better" school of remastering, and then decided to recommend SPV3 to you is staggering.
I'm a huge Halo fan, but it was obvious when playing it that there was no cohesive vision for a game there. It plays like a mod pack, like someone took a couple dozen individual mods and slapped them together with no care for how they fit together. Which just makes the end result feel messy and unfocused.
There are some cool ideas, but they're drowned out by everything else.
That's exactly how SPV3 was done. It puts in a bunch of separate mods and tries to combine them with a huge reworking of the original campaign, in a way that doesn't work.
Yeah, and sincerely, even Halo cursed edition looks better, because it's supposed to look that way and to have all these bugs and there are no unplanned errors.
Yeah, things like the gravity grenade and armor abilities feel completely out of place, and many extensions added onto the levels make it drag on and/or do not fit the theme. Halo:CE introduced weapons and enemies at very specific times/places, which is why having hunters in the first mission felt very off putting.
@@zamfir2005 this was my feeling for cursed halo as well. There's a certain mood to the whole thing. SPV3 looks like a flea market (lots of cool stuff, no idea how it came to be here)

I think a lot of people like SPV3 because it does add a lot of "cool" things that on the surface seem like an upgrade, but on closer inspection make it bloated. It ends up feeling like a group of 14 year olds added everything that they thought would make the best game ever without any thought about why those things are cool in isolation but clash when all put into a game not designed with those things in mind.

But the way he's saying/wording it kinda makes it seems like he's getting self-conscious about how much he wants to talk about Halo and worries that his subs are starting to get tired of seeing him talk about Halo. If it's this case, then I would suggest either making them occassional/infrequent or trying to not be self-conscious because I like seeing his passion for the series.

I think he was trying to point out something other than him being underrated... It's Very subtle, and few understand. He's basically talking to us, as a teacher would to a toddler in Kindergarten... He's trying to explain some things in an easier to understand format, by making it simplistic, hence the cardboard. This is just Noodle being quite frustrated with some of the people in his comments section, and instead of yelling and screaming at us, he basically called us 'dumb-dumbs', using the cardboard. I respect Noodle for that.
Just as the video was ending, I was studying the background and marveling at how much time you must have spent putting it together to maintain the same environment you have with the animations. Then it was unceremoniously destroyed. Ah. Art. She be a cruel misteress.
You know your animations are amazing but I absolutely love this diorama style video. Please do more of these. I don't even care if it's about Halo or anything at all I just want more.

SPV3 is something I both love and hate at the same time. The anniversary edition I simply only hate, tho.

The praise for Spv3 comes from people confusing effort with quality. You see it all the time with fan films like someone will make a star wars fan film that is nothing but an extended poorly choreographed fight scene with decent visual effects and people will think it's better than any of the new movies because some rando made it and not a big studio.
I don't want to call out fan projects like that because it's always super cool to see but it's annoying when something that isn't really that good gets praised above things that are at the very least passable

really enjoyed you talking about halo, yes its talked about so much on the internet but you brought new stuff to the table. the anniversary video wasn't just stating 'its to bright goodbye' but brought up camera angles and compared them to the original . I personally played the anniversary first and didn't realise how much of a disadvantage it could be sometimes. great video, don't talk about other halo games if you don't want to. all of it has already been said.

While doing something like that for a game can lead to cool little things that fans can appreciate, they have to have some purpose to the main gameplay without being either pure fluff or redundant to what’s already there.
Haze is a good example for the former, there were a bunch mechanics such as playing dead, or doing a tactical roll. They seemed like cool ideas on paper and it was relatively unique for an FPS game, but nothing in the actual game required you to do any of that, you could just play it like a standard FPS and do just fine.
Former would be baland wonderland’s power ups.
Fan projects can really suffer from that since creators have more creative control as well as having no deadline. I remember an old crossover fan game called mushroom kingdom fusion that was really fun with a bunch of neat ideas. But it was never finished because the devs kept adding more and more stuff with no real planning.

I need to play SPV3 again. I've had so much fun with the mod. After playing Halo CE the same way over and over and experiencing the same levels, I think it's a nice change of pace.

Totally agree, SPV3 is fun but bloated. Waaay too many overlapping weapons, AotC/TB is terribly stretched with a miles long corridor section. Plus the Flood....there's SO MANY
Anyways, please dont let this be your last Halo video....you should do one covering Halo 4 or Reach! I think Reach's artstyle negatively impacted CEA in a big way.

@@CoolName5383 i think Reach is the reason Elites and Grunts look so ugly in Halo 4 and 5, maybe 343 saw Reach elites but interpreted the idea of their design wrong and tried to make them even more monstrous, and ended up making something that almost doesn't resemble the original thing

I'd imagine if I were a new company created to sequel a masterpiece, I would probably look to the newest title to get an understanding of the overall art style.

They were taller and more muscular with black beady eyes and larger feet to accent their overall larger size. However their overall shape and silhouette stays faithful to their sleek older designs.
343 basically looked at them and said “needs more implied incest and scales. Oh, and make their armor look like they pieced it together from literal Covenant trash”.
