@Lewis 970 I don't think Corny hates Herd as much as he hates Russo. I'd put Herd at #3, with Kevin Dunn at second (Russo's top spot on the Jim Cornette Hate Parade is secure).

Jim Herd once handed me a severance contract to sign and I signed it "Jack Mehoff' AFTER cashing the severance check of course. When he worked for Middleton Investments, in case any of you think I am neck-talking here.
Jim Herd's job opened the door for non-wrestler "writers" and bookers. After Turner hired this guy, it became "OK" to put people in charge of wrestling that had nothing to do with wrestling at all. His reign set the wheels in motion for Russo and others to come.
Vince Russo was a Writer for WWF Magazine before being put in charge of booking. Vince would've allow Russo to be a booker regardless if Jim did it or not. Vince was in the middle of a Ratings War and he considered his WWF (Titan Sports) always as entertainment unlike his father who would never allowed guys like Andy kaufman Vince Russo Ali into a ring regardless if they were huge fan or not
His killing of the feud between Heyman’s “Original” Midnight Express vs Corny, Stan and Bobby after Jim’s bloody promo (which was one of the greatest promos of all time), was right up there with Shane “buying” WCW (which started and immediately ruined the biggest angle in history) as two of the worst booking decisions ever. Herd’s Wikipedia page used to have him being a manager of Pizza Hut as one of his biggest life accomplishments. But if Corny actually knew how to use the internet, I’m guessing it’d be much worse.
Herd should've had his own promotion instead of taking a WCW gig. His ideas are so terrible they're laughable. My gut hurts hearing Ross calling a Ding Dong match and Heyman says they must be Cornettes idea. lol. The HunchBacks would've gotten over. He was a k-mart version of Vince. I wish I was a fly on the wall in the same room as Sullivan,Ole,Corny,Flair whoever and Herd during a meeting. WCW looked very second rate footage wise compared to the WWF, like there wasn't as much effort put into it than how Vince ran his business.. I'm talking their early 90 stuff. He also looks 70 in that picture, and that picture is close to 30 years old and he's still alive? lmao
OK...but he had a mandate. JCP won adults and lost the war, so WCW only had value if they could win kids. Herd comes in and faces nothing but recalcitrance: Flair, Corny, Sullivan, JR, Ole, etc all thought they knew better and listen to Corny just ignore that JCP died. He says keep doing what lost!!! Herd had no choice but to try creative because his creative all refused to cater to kids.
Brian Scrivner yeah herds idea was for ric flair to drop the world title to the total package lex luger but flair had already promised sting that he would drop it to sting and thought that there where much more deserving contenders than luger like maybe Barry Windham and that is why ric left that and the fact that herd wanted him to change his gimmick
I’ve come to the conclusion if the downfall of wrestling was a giant ball, Jim Herd was the guy that pushed it up the mountain and Vince Russo pushed it over.
LOL None of what Cornette says has any merit. WWF was bleeding money long after Herd was gone from WCW, and his time in WCW hardly made a blip. And when Herd left, WCW continued to not make a blip. If it was up to Cornette, Ole, Flair and Dusty, they'd have booked WCW like it was 1983, with Flair continuing to insist he was going to put Sting over, while dragging it out as long as possible. All these guys, including Herd are a joke. None of them knew how to win, and have proven that by never taking responsibility for the fault they had in their own actions.
Don't forget, that this is a guy (Jim Herd) who outright refused to give Ric Flair his $25,000 deposit back on the big gold belt after Flair said he would drop it and lost the title match, that's why Ric showed up on WWF TV with the big gold belt, but then Herd decided to threaten WWF management into blurring the big gold belt (NWA/WCW title at the time) but Herd realised that he wasn't going to get Flair back, so he relented and gave Flair his deposit back, to which Flair sent the belt back, however, it was at this time they had a WCW title, so they had to do something with the big gold belt instead of saying "well we got the "real" world title back, let's chuck this stupid one in the bin!" and made the big gold the "WCW International World Heavyweight Championship" until Sting and Flair unified the two and the big gold then became WCW World Title again.
Don't forget that the Big Gold Belt was brought back to WCW television as the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in July of 1992 while WCW had that year-old whatever that belt was.
I would love that, if only that we might be able to get Herd's side of the whole thing. Okay, Herd sucked. We know this. But suggesting that he was the sole or main reason why Vince won the war with WCW is a bit ridiculous. First, if we're discussing the late 80s era Herd took over a financial mess in the first place that Crockett left. Herd's first year in charge (1989) was a very good year quality wise and certainly better than the 1987-88 era. The 80s war was over once Herd took over. 1990-91 were awful for WCW, but the WWF's own business started tanking during that time period as well. There really wasn't a wrestling war during the early 90s and WCW by the mid 90s was a totally different company under Bischoff. WCW's eventual cratering and demise had basically nothing to do with Herd.
Brian Paige You make some good points, but still I don't know of anyone more unqualified for a high level job than that fucking asshole Jim Herd. Even though they lost some superstars under Crockett they still had a core of great wrestlers - Flair, Muta, Funk, the Midnight Express, Sting, the Steiners, Harlem Heat, Ron Simmons, Steamboat, Vader, Barry Windham, Brian Pillman, Arn Anderson, etc. And Herd either buried them or tried to force them to do stupid gimmicks, like trying to turn Flair into "Spartacus". Herd wasn't completely responsible for the NWA/WCW collapse, but if he wasn't so incompetent and arrogant, who knows what would've happened? Maybe if WCW wasn't so fucked and desperate because of Herd, they wouldn't have turned the reigns over to Bischoff who eventually destroyed the company.

I'm sure he would like to, bif I don't think he wants his shows to be canceled.
Horrible crotch rot from inside and out? I thought no one else ever approached the love Cornette had for Vince Russo.
I think Jim herd was the one who came up with Nash's horrible gimmicks in his first wcw before he was diesel in week. Like Vinny Vegas and Oz
That was Dusty idea but Herd pushed for it
Why does he get so angry?
I like ultimately what convinced Jim Cornette to not go through with his fantasy/stunt is the threat that Jim Herd might have had a REAL gun in his desk lol
And that's why Cornette hates the Second Amendment.
... well, if you looked far enough down his family tree ... a third cousin, twice removed ...
I dont know butt it sounds like corny dislikes him more than he dislikes russo
Not one to mince words is old Corby
God i hope the day Cornette dances on Herds grave he has someone film it lol
Tell me something I dunno. Corny is vicious as fuck.
Love the Imo’s shoutout!
Wishing other people sickness is really bad. Cornette should know better.
"No".
*clip ends*
I imagine corny doing the flair strut on this grave
Tell us what you really think Jim, stop holding back
this shit was fucking funny.
The guys in the WWF because they didnt have to deal with herd
Cornette was one of the best heels ever.
Their is nothing quite like Jim cornette gloating over someone’s death to sooth the soul
I wouldn't call it soothing, but, to each his-or-her own.
No the reason why the WWF won the war because Jim and old school people still dont understand the power of making a product for children. An adult will buy one shirt for themselves and will watch wrestling when they have time. A kid will make time for wrestling and sit on the couch screaming wearing a shirt, a hat, wrist bands, a wrestling magazine laying next to them while they have a room full of posters and action figures all over the place. NWA was playing checkers while Vince was playing chess

I don't think he likes him
