Good to see South Korea getting some attention. The country is full of rock climbing. It’s surprising a Black Diamond sponsored video didn’t mention Chouinard’s legacy there! Elephant Crack is so crux-nice lead on that Hazel!
Colette McInerney has been making the best climbing films, lately. She showed a film at my home gym in Knoxville earlier this year. Blessed is the one who films Hazel on granite, as well.
Beautiful piece! Hazel is so strong. Love the dinner table gathering and spread of dishes with the fire in the middle. Reminds me of my years there... Love that kimchi.
My dear wife immigrated from S. Korea when she was around 30. She passed away in 2017. I was a climber, and she was a people person. I've met quite a few of my in-laws, but never made it there as I'm too intimidated by busy cities. This video really educated me on the incredible beauty and climbing potential of S. Korea. Plus, the food...oh the food, what more can I say.
Sorry for your loss. I grew up outside of a city in the US and currently living just outside of Seoul. It's worth a visit! I avoid the big city areas myself and spend most of my free time taking trips out to Gangwon-do mountains.
I visited Seoul on my own a few years ago. I live in the suburbs of Detroit but grew up in a very small Michigan town. Large cities can be intimidating but Seoul was VERY welcoming and easy to navigate. I had an amazing 9 days there and can't wait to go back. It is for sure a busy city but everyone was willing to help.
2:45 I hope Chaehyun Seo got at least the second wish come true this year. 5:22 Missed opportunity to label him "Strong Local Climber" ;) Thanks for this amazing video!
It’s nice to see you punting on delivery man v6. From what I heard you were here in summer, hard time to be in jinan. Also that chicken soup restaurant is amazing.
Wow! Can't believe those beautiful splitters! For some reason, I always think of mono-to-mono-on-otherwise-blank-face bouldering when I think of S Korea. So nice to be proven wrong!
Fun to watch, but I think every title card could have been its own totally watchable 10 minute installment instead of cramming all of them into one 7 minute video full of cuts.
Obviously not any time soon - but ya'll have to send some people to Guilin/ Yangshuo, China. I lived in Guilin for a few months, and while Yangshuo is more known for its amazing climbing, the areas right around the city of Guilin are pretty incredible in their own right!
Yvon Chouinard climbed there while in the Army and stationed in South Korea. You can see a really nice granite crag from downtown Seoul. I've been on business there a number of times but never got out there. But the local beer, Cass, is 100% terrible.
Said "nice granite crag" is Insubong and is given a segment in this video. It has two popular routes first climbed by Chouinard. You take a public bus to the trail head in less than an hour.

In fact, beginning in the mid-1980’s, a chance meeting with the psyched climbers of South Korea has now blossomed into one of BD’s strongest partnerships. As South Korea continues to make waves in the global climbing community with young phenoms such as Chaehyun Seo routinely shattering barriers and winning world cups, BD Athletes Hazel Findlay and Colette McInerney wanted to explore Black Diamond’s Korean roots, and experience the now thriving climbing culture that has become part of our global heritage. Check out this beautiful film made by Colette, for a glimpse into the world of South Korean climbing.
I can see why you ask that but in my opinion she most definitely isn't pulling on the cam as you can see the entire sequence of her setting her jam adjacent to it.
Hey BlackDiamond A lot of your sponsored athletes travel a lot. It kind of belongs to the modern (climbing) Lifestyle. But as climbers we also enjoy nature and intact ecosystems. Yet by travelling we are responsible for their destruction. How does BD deal with this Dilemma and climate change? Sustainability vs consumerism? Renewable materials vs petrochemical products? Tough questions, but we need quick solutions. Cheers
I enjoy these climbing videos, but in this one the music is louder than the dialogue. I couldn't watch all of it. I suggest that all producers leave a music sound track out of videos like this. Let Hazel and others talk. I learn from that not the music.
For me hazel is hands down the most bad ass and hottest chick on the planet. She’s a living legend in tights and boy she looks good in them. Phew. hazel please marry me 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🥰

What's the grade of that beauty?

Looks amazing!
Cool cameos! Chaehyun Seo is so amazing!
in her first season in adult IFSC World Cup comps, she won the overall lead title LOL its crazy how good she is
Awesome, what sick rock and distance from the city.
Love Hazel, love this video, sound's off.
Between Adam and Hazel, BD is definitely winning the climbing company video wars.
I'd prefer less jump cuts and more climbing in one take. Nice story telling though :)
Right why is every climbing video like that. If they film the entire climb start to finish I'd watch it
It’s nice to see you punting on delivery man v6. From what I heard you were here in summer, hard time to be in jinan. Also that chicken soup restaurant is amazing.
incredible climbing,, very coolllll.. Hazel Findlay👍👍👍

진안에 장군봉기존길에 와~~~ 전국투어 했네요~~

Does she uses the cam at 6:35 to pull herself? Or is just an optical illusion because of the camera angle and the lips of the crack?
I can see why you ask that but in my opinion she most definitely isn't pulling on the cam as you can see the entire sequence of her setting her jam adjacent to it.
They choose to edit the clip part out for some reason. She placed the cam, jump cut, then it's clipped
panjat tebing yang profesional
Awesome video, is she wearing the squamas?
Yep my dude :)
@@RobertoMooreRMR she does that a lot. Probably sized them bigger then most boulderer.
What’s the song at 1:00
Kasseo - Comanche
Trad, trad, trad....... natural beauty!!!!
2 words! Hell no! I'm edutatded! I know about the rock and the hard place!😁

Watching this just makes me sad about the Olympics
LoL the jump cut from placing the cam to it just being clipped
. Wonder what happened that they didn't want to showb
Wow you are amazing and beautiful. The guy who gets you will be a lucky dude.
Only people with class drink Cass
The editing is so annoying

The audio quality on this video is unacceptable lol

Would've been better with different type of music. Like "natural" sounding music with guitar and stuff
Hazel Findlay are you dating alex?
