Oh and “pretty flat “ is not flat.
A passenger liner is changing by 1 deg every 7 minutes. That is so slow that you will not notice it and it will get lost in all the other adjustments made for wind etc.
"all other adjustments made for wind" are stored in the automatic pilot and easily accessed upon landing which can even be printed out or sent out as an e-mail as Wolfie demonstrated years ago with the exception of one adjustment: Curvature! No adjustments for curvature is ever recorded. I've covered this years ago including long haul flights made by the US Air Force back in the 50s explaining step by step all the adjustments made by the pilot following the Aviator's observations. One adjustment was never made - the adjustment for the supposed "curvature of the Earth".
