- 23 Apr 3310: The Python Mk II will be available to fly in just two weeks: but you'll need to pay for the early access. And there's news about pre-built ships and all-year-round access to popular paint jobs too.

Awesome i got over 40k ARX points from just playing the game. Finally got something i can spend it on
This exactly. Lots of people complaining like it is the end of the world.
clear and concise! What I love about your videos
Thank you! We try not to outstay our welcome.... 😀
@@GalnetDigest because you read the News so we don't have to ?
The only thing the Python Mk 1 is missing, imo, is the fighter bay, so that might be that special thing.
That's why we have the Krait MKII
Cant wait for all the people buying ships with real money then dying with no rebuy
That's the beauty of this game. You can be anyone. Even an idiot.
But seriously I don't believe that will be the case. Maybe the ship won't be lost, just they will need to grind the rebuy in their new shiny sidewinder 😂
@@88dejw its much more likely you will have to pay arx for the rebuy lmao
@@88dejw context clues, it said you pay arx for the _access_ not the ship. It will probably be an account unlock, and the actual ship purchased with credits.
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
wonder if the interior will look any different in VR. my python has some loose cables laying around.
Thank you for the video! I am very much looking forward to May 7th and am hopeful about Elite's future!
Thanks for watching!❤
Can easily buy the new ships and ignore the pre-builds. Those will be for noob content access and can guarantee they won't be as efficient as putting effort into customization.
when will the python mk II prebuilt and pre engineered be avialable? and how much?
Not going to lie, considering how much ARX I have laying about I won't mind paying it. 400 a week times the years I've been in elite is easy math. Besides, it's still a fraction of the charging SC does.
Anchoring is a type of bias that many companies use to manipulate consumers into doing just that.... "Oh it's not that much compared to SC..." Not everyone can afford that. And it's still a form of paytowin albeit temporarily. Can't wait for the Yamiks video!
@@Zebediela42 who cares? I frankly don’t care what others can or can not afford. I care what I can afford. This is a game. Entertainment, purely optional. We are not talking about food, energy, or medical services. Besides there is an in game method to generate arx and even bonuses for attacking titans.
@@Zebediela42 This isn't pay to win. You don't need this ship to get anything done in this game. And it is only to get early access to it, anyway.
@@Zebediela42 Yamiks who became tiresome to listen to years ago, yeah ok.
@@mikewaterfield3599>Who cares
>Complains 2 years from now when you can obtain modules with arx, there are timegated things in the game, and is also forced to buy the "next step in the elite dangerous development" (bad dlc with dubious content +scams)
Lol, lmao even
I don't mind spending ARX and will very likely make use of the paintjob changes.
What I do mind though, is Early Access. With all the different ways and intentions Early Access is used these days, I just can't stand this practice anymore. Sorry, but no Python MkII for me until August. (Not that it would matter, it's likely I'm still out exploring even by August...)
Same. I won't hesitate to buy and spend ARX for cosmetic items that I *might* someday use. The enjoyment I get out of the game far outweighs how much I've spent on it over the years. But even though I rarely PVP, I refuse to spend real money on something that would give even the appearance of buying an advantage (in any capacity) in the game.
My ARX wallet is currently getting a little light, but I may Wait until August to refill it just so I don't accidentally encourage FDev to continue down this slope.
I'd happily pay a monthly sub to Frontier for the over 6k hours I have in Elite. So got no problem with them making money. The more the better because that means more focus on Elite and more updates and content (hopefully!).
May 8, and it's still not available in the ARX store...
Black paints finally? Sweet!
Woah that's wild I had a dream last night about ships and more importantly irritating-to-unlock modules being for sale for arx.
Please could you dream about Thargoids on foot and EVA in space. Thanks in advance
Also, please dream about having ship interiors. o7!
@@tweaked74 I'm still mad that they let us walk *anywhere* except our spaceship. In the spaceship game.
Wow.
Do we get a Cobra Mk-IV to buy. Would many people be upset?
Oh and when do they start selling ranks? Looking forward to twink-triple-elites who can barely clear the mailslot.
welp, see yall in august.
Arx for things we can already obtain without paying a cent isn’t as bad a people may think. Elite dangerous is a live service game, and as such needs a more reliable source of income- which is marketed to existing and new players alike.
As for Python early access- it’s something I’m willing to pay for cause I need it lol, but it’s also not as evil as you may be led to believe. No money? It’s not that long of a wait until you can buy it for credits in August.
Edit: Cmon.. pay to win? Hahahaha. With the proposed changes you will not be able to purchase anything with arx that gives you an advantage over another player (who has put in a little bit of work to make creds to buy a ship), except cool looking stuff for customisation!
I think until August I should have gathered enough credits to buy one... 😉
You cant obtain more then 7 to 8k arx before they stop being obtained by just playing the game, so nobody will have early access by just playing. Its pay to win from now on, the other 2 ships wont be different.
I can't believe that the community just accept it. They failed to make money by deliver content, and now they just simply make the game pay2win.
@@Sir-Complains-a-Lot Pay to win would mean that any already available ship would be rendered useless if you want to get further than some basic gameplay.
Early access and prebuilt ships don't really cover that ground.
@@Neo-vz8nh They failed to make money by delivering content? Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. Creating content doesn't make you money, it just costs a lot of it. Unless you sell that content for money.
Great now you can use real life money to get an advantage, this is totally the right direction according to mobile games 😓
What advantage?
Seems a good way of ensuring the company's survival for a bit
With you there. It may be annoying and feel pay-to-win, but it’ll give frontier some much needed profits from elite, making the high-ups look on it favourably. I hope so anyway 😅
@@DiturisElite It also isn't pay to win because we will all get it eventually, and having the ship doesn't mean you'll automatically win every single engagement. It's more "pay peanuts to try".
I can't comprehend people saying this is a cash grab when the game has been so cheap for so many weeks and hours of entertainment! It boggles my mind how many people want stuff free instantly - they're getting it later in the year anyway!
@@DiturisEliteit is quite sad that the community is so desprate for content, they willing to accept anything for it, even pay2win (yes it is pay2win).
@Neo-vz8nh what exactly do you win? Been playing elite for a while and still have not figured out how to win. So don't see how this is Pay to win.
Anything but listening to your players =)
Excellent. The revenue generated will continue longevity and new players get a leg up. o7 cmdrs
watch the special feature be ammonia world landing
take the fight to the goid hives
This would be worthy of a new feature. Particularly if it's more Helldivers, less bullet sponge timesink.
If only! I would love on-foot Thargoids! Even if they reused the mist and clouds of the titans.
its my furthest field pipe dream because when I LOOK at this ship, I think.. aerodynamic. That thing can take atmosphere. Top that off the FDL saying their modified ships going forward are going to share this new sleek design.. a girl can dream.
What if special feature was SCO?
@@jasperlit1345then it wouldn't be a feature unique to the ship, as we can already put it on other ships. Longshot possibility: it has natural SCO that can be paired with a STANDARD fsd so you don't have terrible range
Make the python Mk2 a kill on sight ship.
I will make a group of players with a Python Mk2 and come after you instead 😜
This is very interesting.
I do not know. But I don't see a pay to win, in ED at all, in all this. What I do understand is that it's what the Devs expect it to be. A way for players to engage where a ship like those would be very helpful, where as otherwise those players might would find it very difficult to partake in those events.
So many are speaking so far ahead of knowing what these newer ship/s are capable of, it can be cause for one to wonder.
Hmmm,...
If this will be a pay to win issue with the new ship/s that are coming out in ED, please provide tried and true facts of this being the case. I believe in order to do this the person proving this fact will themselves need to purchase one of these pay to win ships, then take that very ship into a pvp with a ship that is an in-game, none ARX purchased ship, and then win a certain amount of bouts against that in-game none ARX purchased ship. One or two bouts don't count. Beating up on smaller/weaker ship don't count. On the other hand it would be very sad thing to be handled by a smaller/weaker ship. Be honest and do a real study, and corroborate that with others that are not your "friends" to force prove this fact. Maybe even making it an invitation for the community, to watch in person, in real time, in-game.
Then if the proving of this fact that these newer ship/s coming to ED, are indeed "NOT" pay to win, a open public apology should be given. It is only right, because a open public of declaration of these newer ship/s "are" pay to win, was given.
Those that have stated, the newer ship/s "may" be pay to win, would be ok.
Statements are in chats, so who said what, is known.
Love you all!
As always, this is imo.
God first!!!
God bless!!!
Love One Another, as Christ Jesus, Love Us!!!

Still can't buy skill. Still need skill to win. It's not that bad.
Pity! I have no skill
Sounds like a skill issue🤣 all jokes, were all friends here lol
All the components you need to jump right into the game, and none of the skills
If it gets players in fast and give us some dev money then it really wont effect me much. Engineering pre built ships will be good for players too, theyu can come in fast and then probably leave fast but arx will keep this game going!
The downside is churn, where people get these large and expensive ships goin into combat zones they are not ready for and end up quitting the game much more than the cost of the game itself in the red.
Churn of course is how more notorious ptw games make their money, nobody play world of tanks as a free player for very long anymore, but if they can entice just a few of them to pay for a "starter kit" and catch the occasional whale (someone with a large credit card) they need to get more and more free players in to act as targets for the whales.
@@57thorns I do think Elite has always had churn as people come in hit the learning cliff then hit the engineering cliff and leave. And players often return but then face a cliff to catch up with new locked gear. Yes they will come and go you need a certain amount of work in games to keep players occupied I suppose its a balance they have never tried.
I love cliffs. I stare at cliffs all day!
Anyway, on a more serious note.. IMHO, I don't think churn is too bad for Elite. It'll be sad to see new players come and then go soon after, but if we see at least a few stay because they like the way the cliff looks, then great!
I think the fundamental difference between Elite and games like WOT that rely on churn is that a system like this isn't so much pay-to-win as pay-to-skip. Nothing presented so far suggests someone with deep pockets will suddenly be godlike at the game as they can be in WOT. The huge practical skill chasm that needs to be crossed makes that less likely, and the people who'll stay are the ones who are a great fit for a game like this and probably stay longer and make repeat purchases.
Also, the galaxy is huge and there's open, private and solo. No one's gonna get shit on by whales if they weren't actually looking to do that in the first place.
@@abrtn00101 It could upset the power balances of BGS and Power Play perhaps, but probably not.
@@abrtn00101I love cliffs too!! And also I enjoy Elites cliffs as they let me work my way at something until I find my own way of achieving! Fingers crossed whatever they do it keeps the game and Frontier alive.
Can I spend ARX to buy Beetlejude a replacement SRV? 😉
I hate not having arks... i didnt get any from destroying titan hearts and i doubt ill have enough when this thing comes out
Just wait a few months or buy it early for the cost of 2 or 3 Costa coffees which would take 15 minutes to drink, max.
Guess this is still pc only
The console verse is left behind but at least no titans
Might be a controversial take, but I am all for this. Some say it might be pay to win, but I see it as essential revenue generation and also help bypass a lot of the engineering grind and I like the idea of being able to buy a partially pre-upgraded ship -- and I suspect it WILL be only partial, i.e. not min-maxed to the extent of the pvp experts. The number of newish players who post on reddit who do not engage with content because they are lost in the maze of outfitting and engineering this is good for them - and frankly even as a veteran I welcome the ability to quick buy another gameplay specific variant rather than spend an entire day shopping around for parts.
Personally I welcome the opportunity to buy more little things and help support the game - I've got plenty of ARX sitting around not being spent on anything. A lot of the cosmetics just do not really float my boat (cough cough xmas jumpers and snowman heads :eyeroll: )
Precisely it is not P2W mechanic, it is paywall/microtransaction. Freemium content. But prebuilt ships are of course typical P2W mechanic.
star citizen players enter the chat.
Hallo
And as said above. We play only for the initial price. Some of us play for years. The servers are running, the community is great. Why not to spend a dime to support the game. After all, they don't force us. And it's not pay to win, you still get your ass burned without skill.
I’m guilty of this I admit and what’s worse, I know better. All of my earliest live service games were subscription based. I have a few thousand hours into Elite and I only ever paid for the base game and odyssey
Paying for something we have been waiting for months for is not exciting
Well we can just wait until August? We can go and enjoy the summer in the interim on our bikes and rollerskates 😂
I wonder how many CMRRs will actually hold firm on this..?!
Remember Gamestop? #hold
Not exited either, but people who got enough ARX by just playing the game may not even pay a cent. But still, this is some kind of pay to win approach, for which reason I don't play Star Citizen.
@@cmdrstevemcmaru7417 But it's not pay to win? Having the ship doesn't mean you'll automatically win every engagement does it? See the myriad examples of people in Sidewinders beating Pythons etc
mmhhhh, the pre-built ships have me worried, they better not also be pre-engineered and/or have guardian/tech broker stuff on them, if so that's some bullshit
It's a solution to the "grind" everyone complains vocally about, and you still have to be good as a pilot.
Bad news... The AX ship has engineered modules and Guardian / Tech broker stuff included...
I'm all for FD doing anything to boost their revenue for developing the game, others may feel otherwise, naturally.
But then, I value my recreation and don't mind paying for things that may amuse me, I'm odd that way!
@@the_rat_run my brother will be pleased! He never spends enough time playing or bothers to engineer so he's always getting battered in any engagements. This will help, and also mean I won't have to constantly go and rescue him.
I'm chuffed.
This is good news, so many were declaring Elite a dead game just a short while back. Now, with any luck, Elite may save Frontier thanks to them waking up and realising what they have here. It's given me years of entertainment so I'd be happy to support them by buying a ship, I just hope it won't be like painting a huge bullseye on myself in open......
Brother…
Holy smokes, you're delusional.
I cant believe the amount of 'pay to win' gripes. If you look at cost/per hour of entertainment, elite is probably one of the cheapest. I have spent much more hard cash on other games and played them for far less. The model they are following is almost identical to MWO, where you pay for ealry access to new mechs but they are far from OP compared to those purchased in game.
For f sake Fdev, they even launder money lazily.
Advertising the Python II last month then bringing out this announcement about it being payware is really poorly done.
Pay to win will result in me leaving the game out of principle. Me and my 10 alts with FC's for each and 150B total. If you go pay to win, -Inert insult here-, Fdev. I'm done.
Well... bye.
@@teuf9180 Actually since they block the usefulness of transferring modules to other ships or sell them, For my definition of pay to win, this does not qualify so thankfully I didn't do anything rash or irreversible, I am staying in the game. I fully understand and support your comment. I need to hold off making rash judgements going forward.
If the preconfigured ships are not engineered they gonna be dogshit. If the are indeed engineered this just became a pay to win game. If the python II is good its pay to win as well, if Python II is bad its still very much bad publicity. As it is anounced to be an FDL rival i fear this aint gonna be pretty.. I cant wait to buy the other 2 ships, each two months for real money as well..
We better get this on all platforms including old gen consoles
#hold (until August!) Remember Gamestop? Pepperidge Farm remembers!
Oh boy!
Modern video game monetization.
I was wondering how long it would take before Elite Dangerous got infected.
Looks like the beginning of the end to me
Well, they have to get the money to pay their employees from somewhere. Selling the game as such doesn't cover that in the long run.
But you don't have to spend the money or buy anything and can just carry on playing to collect materials and engineer and upgrade? It literally makes no difference to your playing so I don't see why you'd leave?
Kicker starter based game, now selling ships for money. Not cool Fdev
BRO WHY DO YOU NEED TO PAY ARKS TO GET EARLY ACCESS!?
Just wait I guess. I'm going to.
Got enough other ships to fly!
eww elite pleased don't turn into star citizen
You mean you don't want to pay thousands for pretty pictures of stuff that will never appear? At least with the Python II the moment it is bought you can play with it, not SC-like at all!
Yo 'dawg! You like Space ships? How about some Star Citizen? What? You don't like it? Come on, you can buy yourself a Jumpaconda without having to engineer it at all! All you gotta do is use some real credit. It's what all the kids in Star Citizen do. Come on, you know you want to spend money on things instead of playing the game. Doesn't that sound like fun?
Theres only 2-3 ships in SC that you cannot buy with in game money, of the 130+ unique ships.
smells like pay to win, i would recommend to be careful with this decision....
How? You can still just fly around upgrading your ship the old route.
Win what?
@@Oz-zy3ie well, you can pre purchase the python2 with arx and you can get arx for real money. Then i am curious how much or arx you would need for those ready to fly ships already equipped for specific role. Arx again, but you can get 400 a week that is 20.000 ish a year if you do nothing than game....
What a shame.
Why do all the ships in Elite look so terrible?
Naah, not all.
🧢
it depends on the age of the beholder
Dunno, but my eyes are old and they look fine to me, seen gross ships in other games too, some costing a lot of real money to fly them at some undetermined point in the future, when the alpha might turn into a released game, apparently...
If they're bringing some things from the past, why don't they give us another round of the Cobra mk 4?
