Funniest shit I've heard in a long time. Rockville sucks in car audio. Never would I buy one single product from them.
Yeah there are things that he did wrong, first he blocked the pole vents etc, second thing he did not elevate the sub father of ground, third his crappy mass isn't secured to the cone and who knows if the mass/weight used was sufficient? Fourth that Fs could go even lower with more use, fifth thing the VAS could get up or get higher with more use/break in, sixth QTS could get lower with more use or break in, last thing those TSP's he is pointing such as Zmin Zmax crap wouldn't affect the enclosure requirements, so what's the point if they're off?
A side note: pointing other brands or comparing them to yours is never going to prove a positive thing about your brand, it's totally the opposite, I'd rather show how my brand performs, if other brand start crap about my brand then I'd set up an agreement with them to do comparisons maybe that's fartherst I'd go, I guess I would just defend my brand by proving that bad reviews are false and that's it!
Do you want to compare subs? Compare them on other channel and don't let people know who you are, perhaps let other one do it for you so you don't look as bad!

Comparing inaccurate specs to accurate specs and a price? Do you not care how it actually performs, or how long it lasts, or what happens when you use it on say more than 1/3 of rated power?

Informative as usual, That is something Rockville should look at because when you give wrong T/S parameters and people use those misleading parameters to design an enclosure they would more than likely sound like crap. And you would definitely damage your sub and who looks bad Rockville . Don' t try to fool us ,we know better.
Doesn't the Rockville have a vented pole piece? if so, shouldn't the driver be elevated? Blocking the pole will effect the measurement. And why is generating the ts parameters taking that long? My SL rig only took seconds at most.
Specs should not change drastically between out-of-the-box and bresk-in. But blocking the pole WILL effect them.

Blocking the pole has no bearing at that level of power. I've compared in the past. And yes, the specs COULD change drastically after break-in. Some subs I've seen as much as a 9 hz change in Fs, which means many other things changed too. Vas doubling for example, is huge.
Well, I will disagree. I've tested hundreds of drivers myself using the same set up you have, ARTA jig, and DATS (in all of its various configurations). And talking to the gentleman that developed SL and DATS. Suspending the driver so that there is adequate space below the pole vent is his recommendation.

Mind blown,,, however, I actually totally expect this from "them" is what I'm not totally dying to know, like seriously on a mission now got to know is if sundown, b2, skar ect, doing the same? I have a sa 12, just installed a vxf 12", I've had a lowballer 12 for over a year, I love all of em, some more than others. The lowballer sounds as good if not better than the sundown, imo, I suppose it's not likely, but this has me wondering. It's easy to take t.s. from one sub and slap the same specs on thousands I mean they'd all be close to the same specs all around right? Even on the 2,000th after taking parameters? I'm disgusted, blown away, and completely curious.
What sucks about Rockville is their subs really aren’t all that bad, but they’re so heavily falsely advertised that I’d never buy them just for that reason. If they advertised with true specs far more people would want them.
Going to start this off By saying I don’t run EMF I run American Bass. But I watch most of your videos I like to learn and I must say I would be furious if I was sold a sub with an advertised 50mm of XMAX and it did only 35. PS my subs are the XMAX line so I would be super salty.

I bet it happens often when dealing with budget brands like this. Really apart from the Vas the Qts and Fs are close enough that it wouldn't matter much. Vas being so far off suggests a bait and switch or last minute revision. Whatever they pulled specs from in the printout has a significantly stiffer suspension than the sub in the video.
Sean, what specs should I go by when u use a different brand recone other than the the sub brand? Should I go by original sub specs or try to find out recone spec.?

is your testing software CEA rated?
Recently I came across ESP( Elliott Sound Products) site , on the site they have TS parameters calculation method for an undocumented subwoofer. Will that yield correct results? In my country most subs are undocumented, there is no way to find whether it's the sub I was looking for. From your experience, can u suggest some 12inch subwoofer driver for home theatre use.
You can get SOME specs using some test methods that use basic equipment but you can't get detailed specs. A true home theater sub will have some different characteristics than car subs, but some people use car subs for home theater when they need high power handling. Some people also have different requirements for home theater. For me, it's going to play flat down to 20 hz and keep playing below that because there is content for it. Not everyone needs that.

Perhaps you missed the title of the video, and part 1.... It's showing the issue with going off of specs on making a sub purchase decision.
Why are mobile audio manufacturers allowed to falsely advertise equipment specifications unchecked? It is as if everyone in the car audio community has just accepted it. I never hear anything being done about it.
You're right, it is accepted, but it's not just car audio. CEA-2006 was supposed to be a game changer in the industry keeping companies honest, till the problematic ones didn't participate and nobody cared. You have to pay CEA to put their standards on your products, so why are companies that make good products going to pay more for a label either?
EMF Audio What I don’t understand is how is this not viewed as criminally defrauding customers. I don’t ever recall hearing about any sort of lawsuit or backlash whatsoever about this. By contrast Apple got themselves into hot water for pushing software “updates” that limit battery life on their devices. Why do we all just accept that certain companies hugely inflate the specs of their products? Consumers should be able to expect to get what is advertised when they purchase a product and not have to wonder if they’re being ripped off. Furthermore, I’ve never understood why Rockville specifically decided to compare their equipment to the likes of Sundown Audio. That was a colossal blunder on their part.

Because you should have watched part 1 first which explains why it's multiple parts that seem like breaks in a longer video. If you actually watch THIS video, you'd see exactly how the measurements are taken.

First off i am no fan of EMF audio and feel this vids kinda useless cause we all know Rockville is the last brand you go to if you want a good mix of quality and loud Bass now with any cheaper brands here are a few rules.
1.)divide their peak/ratings by half or even 10 times to get a better idea of what the RMS power is for subs or even Amps.
2.)never put these subs in a bix tuned lower then 35hz to 40hz
3.)enjoy them for what they are and that is mass produced subs just for fun sadly some of these companies are misleading their customers but any guy with internet and brains will notice that these off brand subs are NOT what they seem like lol i bought a local sub from my country and knew it's a 1k watt sub when they are claiming 2500Watts same with the amps etc.
Every time someone says "we all know" it's a proven fact that we don't, because it wouldn't have to be said if we did. That's like saying we all know the earth is a sphere, but here we are...... You'd think any guy with internet and brains will notice things are off but you're assuming those consumers have both internet and brains, which means if they don't have both, they're buying it so they're still in business.

2.)These kinds of companies are littered across the globe, my country has like 7 cheapy local brands and internet or no internet people still buy them even with brands like DD and rockford being available. and even with people like me telling these people buy better equipment, it does not make a difference.
3.)Anyone with even a years worth of Car audio experience do Know brands like these are lower end heck their packaging and physical quality showcases it 99% of the time.
4.)Many Shops have very ignorant and money making focused sales reps pushing these cheap crap brands to sell cause these brands sell quick thus making them more money faster, also these guys know that if said guy buys rockville he will want to upgrade at some point so they funnel these guys into another cheap but slightly better brand then another etc. and the cycle makes brands like rockville pop up all the time and it's all due to ignorance.
there is many more points i can make but these are the most important, to me this is just an attempt at going after a brand that really most bassheads won't even consider, rather go Audiopipe, American Bass, Lower end DD subs or even Skar for cheaper but much better Bass.
