Whoever invented the teddy bear toss is a marketing genius…… not only is it harmless fun….but very family oriented and all the bears go to children’s hospitals around the area for sick kids. It gets people in the door with stuffed animals. Look how packed the arena is here!! Plus it is fun to watch. The players don’t mind delay either…..
Those people in the front are just getting pelted. But it's all for a good cause; our local hockey team (the Bridgeport Sound Tigers) does this too, and I've let the fur fly a couple of times myself.
The most amazing thing about thid is the number of bears to fans ratio most hockey arenas won't hold 50,000 people so several of those people must have had multiple bears. I think the average is around 20,000 Awesome..
Almost everyone would have had to bring multiples, more than 2. Average NHL arena might hold a maximum of 20,000. Usually under. Meaning that if a minor league team sold out whatever arena they're playing in, that's impressive in it's own, let alone getting everyone to bring almost 3 stuffed animals to throw onto the ice. We're they hanging out stuffed animals to fans on entrance?
@@zzospreyzz55 Two things; the Giant Center (Hershey Bears' Arena) holds 10,500 fans and no bears were handed out to fans upon arrival, every last bear (or other stuffed animal) was bought and brought by fans, using simple math we can figure that each fan brought 5 teddy bears on average (50k bears /10k fans = 5 bears/fan) The world record [also held by us] was crushed by almost 7000 stuffed animals, GO BEARS! 🐻
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY!!! 😫😅🥰🥰🥰 As a side bar, I lost my fiance to COVID during the first wave before we even collectively understood the weight of what was occuring. 6 months after his passing my daughter and I started a nonprofit foundation in honor of our love and his legacy. My nonprofit foundation's primary goal is to provide lifelong supportive services for children that have lost a parent/grandparent/caretaker to COVID because there are MILLIONS in this country ALONE 😢 I would totally LOVE to do something like this but I have no clue who is even begin to contact to make it happen but either way this was super heartwarming to me. Glad to see it brought a smile to so many other people's faces in these chaotic post pandemic times!!!! 🥰

They have a large community of volunteers to help distribute them to children's hospitals, charities and toy drives. But for local sites like the Hershey Medical Center and the Milton Hershey School, the players deliver them personally :)
About 35 minutes until the last person was off the ice. After that, the Zambonis came out to clean up the ice so it was about 45 minutes until play resumed.
Commenting negative garbage on such a postive video of a remarkable, world record breaking event is 10x more cringe than anything you could complain about, get a life.

My hometown team Kamloops Blazers back in 1993
The Teddy Bear Toss is such a wholesome tradition in every way. I love it.
I don’t watch hockey so this is my first time hearing about the teddy bear toss. I cried like a baby watching this video.

Amazing...Good people!
Mine is huge

They probably send them to a nonprofit organization.

Jesus that a lot of stuffed animals. Did they wipe out the entire population of toys in Hershey? Lol
How long did it take to get them all picked up

@@MichaelRMcKenna was it after the 1st goal?
@@ICF31 yeah i think
What an awesome sight….and for a good cause. Whomever came up with this idea deserves a raise.
6 minutes into the game….lol
*👍супер и привет от тренера по футболу!!!!!!*
Where do all those teddies go?
They are evenly split between over 25 local charities, hospitals and shelters. GO BEARS! 🐻
@@linkislegendary4596 oh that’s so sweet 🥺
🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👋👋👋👋
One question...Why?
They donate all the bears as presents to nearby hospitals and charities.
I see the next variant mutating in this mess.
No comment other than if this isn't sarcasm you're a sheep.
Jfc
That chant was cringe
