    Man we have the previous road force balancer and find it pretty handy, this thing is like magic.

    Just had a set of tires/wheels "road force" balance. What a nightmare at Tirerama in Glasgow, MT. No one in their shop truly new what the main advantage of a "road force" balance was (to balance the force exerted by the tire on the road as it rotates). They seemed to think the the main advantage was rotating tires around the vehicle to balance wheel pull. They were using a 15 year old Hunter 9700 and their "old guy" claimed to have 17 years experience. It doesn't matter how good their equipment is if they have their ideas of balance firmly stuck in the '1980s. These guys seriously need to be trained on new (? they've had their Hunter for 15 years) tech and should invest in a modern Hunter road force balancer.

      Even if they "spin" it on a "road force" balancer, they haven't truly road force balanced the tire wheel unless they rotate the tire on the wheel.

      This hunter balancer looks shiny and complicated. If that’s why someone is buying it, they should buy something more basic.

      To be fair it does do that. Some of these have Straighttrak LFM (Lateral force measurement) It shows the technician where to place the tires on the vehicle for least pull, and you can hit a button to show which positions to place them for least vibration. The lateral force sensors literally measure tire conicity which causes radial pull/ ply steer. This was a HUGE deal 15 years ago when tire technology wasn't what it is today (clam shell tire mold ect). But yes they definitely need a new Road Force Touch or Elite and the tech needs to RTFM lol

    9:36 I don't like putting two wheel weights in different spots of the outer rim. Is there a setting or option where it tells me to one wheel weigh on one spot?

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  4 месяца назад

      This wheel aligner can choose one spot on the inside for stick weights. It should only ever ask for one weight on each side with hammer on. The odd time it doesn’t balance out and you have to add another.

      @autotech4103 On regular smart balancing, I know how to put one adhesive wheel weight on the inner side of a rim or outer side of the rim. But I watched different videos about road force balance. What I noticed is the machine told the technicians to put two wheel weights on two different spots on the outer of the rims.

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  4 месяца назад

      @@fromisheon4867 it all depends on the imbalance found. For most high quality tires mounted on good rims, a single weight solution will be found. But cheap tires or bad rims will often need two places

      @@autotech4103 so if the machine asks for two wheel weights on different spots, then most likely bad tires or rims.

    Just got new tires and one tire have just one weight clip on inside.Nothing outside? Is that normal to be unbalanced just on one side?

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  Год назад

      Sometimes stick weights are used inside of the rim and other times no weight is required. If you don’t have vibrations at highway speed I’d assume it’s balanced.

    Would you say a tire with 17lb road force is too much for a small sedan? I've balanced and road forced a pirelli strata gt2 and still get some vibrations.

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  3 года назад +1

      17lbs is probably out of range if it’s a small sedan but isn’t likely the cause of the vibration. I’d switch your tires from front to back to see if the vibration moves or changes. If it doesn’t then it isn’t a wheel problem

      @@autotech4103 its on the right rear. Rim only has .001 run out and would've only lowered it by 2lbs force matching it. The other 3 tires are in the single digits. We got down to the mid 20s last night and these tires were flat spotted horribly this morning. Vibration was bad!
