In Maryland our first resort dates back in 1893 when Frederick Douglass son purchased land in Annapolis, Maryland. The first cottage was built shortly after. Black Descendants of Maryland have owned plots of land since 1780 the Hill Community in Talbot County on the Eastern Shore. Frederick Douglass also built homes in Baltimore City. The Gullah people of low country South Carolina have owned for centuries. Land equaled power after slavery. Keep serving and giving back to your birth states and communities. Serving others is the key to success. Black history needs to be preserved and protected to inspire future generations. Hilton Head used to be predominantly black. One of the first towns was Mitchellesvile, with one L.
This was a great video. I always look to support black-owned businesses being one myself. Especially now more than ever I appreciated seeing black-owned hotels & resorts. Being a luxury travel advisor I've stayed in a few black-owned properties. Here are a few you can add to your list: House of Waine: Hotel in Karen Nairobi, The Social House Nairobi and Mbano Manor Hotel Victoria Falls.
The South Loop Hotel is NOT in Bronzeville. The historical black Bronzeville neighborhood is 2.5 miles south. This hotel is also not located near the United Center, which is 4 miles northwest. It's as the name states, the South Loop Hotel is in the south loop area. Near McCormick Place , close to chinatown and the lakefront. Hackney"s as shown in the video, is closed. And had been for years. Get your info correct.
All NYC B&B's better watch out. Short term stays in NYC are illegal. Unless it's an actual hotel. Thanks to Mayor Adams & DIblasio. But, taking care of the industry is the least of his problems now.
ARE THEY ACTUALLY "BLACK" OWNED OR JUST "MELANATED" OWNED. MANY MELANATED PEOPLE DO NOT 2B CALLED "BLACK" OR HAVE AFFILIATION WITH "BLACK" PEOPLE, ASK THEM‼CRITIQUE THIS LIST! PEACE&LUV
