    KareKano's dub was surprisingly good, surprisingly consistently. Asaba was played by the same guy who plays Akihiko in Persona 3, and the sexiness suits him. I really liked Arima's voice too, even though I never found out who tf voiced him.

    Actually really nice! :D
    I must be honest, as a non-english speaker there are many western animations whose voice acting I really love... but even as of today it's sadly quite rare to find really good english dubs of anime (even if I see the average quality level rising and rising, and that's nice :D)
    If you're interested in the comparison, I'd suggest to try the italian dub!
    In my opinion it's the best one...
    but being italian I could be heavily biased, so you don't have to believe it just on my word xD

    • @concr3t3
      @concr3t3  3 года назад +2

      I don't speak Italian so I'll have to take your word for it, but yeah, I'm always interested in dubs, good and bad. Sometimes even the bad ones have golden moments and the good ones (Steins;Gate, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist) are a true pleasure and I'm always so happy to discover them. Thanks very much for your comment!

    Kare Kano: A tale where a girl and a boy fall in love with each other, but also they heal each other's trauma and shortcomings. The girl does more in this part. SPOILER(It can be found in Wiki): Before they get married because of a shock pregnancy from Yukino, Arima finally resolves his parental issues with his own biological parents. Sadly the anime ended SUPER ABRUPTLY, because the director didn't want to do it anymore.
    This anime has a really nice balance of drama and comedy. I never felt like one was getting too much than the other.

      Recently I think it was confirmed that he did want to finish it more or less, but since the story had no conclusion, and they had bout twenty or so days to work on it, they just sort of hacked an ending together as best as they could. Personally, I think the show is great outside of Episode 25 (the only original episode not based on the manga).

      as much as I loved this show, the manga felt very distasteful in certain parts. I wish abuse and weird age-gap relationships weren't romanticized but I suppose this is 90s-2000s stuff so it's not to be totally unexpected.

      Miyazawa is relatable to a lot of people because so many people, like her, have a public face and a private face. KareKano is a relatable show because at its core it's about the tension between the two faces and how integrating them to become a more whole person can be really difficult but is also really rewarding.

    I really wanna watch the dub and I think i will, but my god the VA of the main male character might be one of the worst actors I've heard. I like most of the New York dub actors but this guy just sounds unberable.
    Veronica Taylor however knocks characters like the one in the video out of the park so I definitely plan to give it a watch.

    • @concr3t3
      @concr3t3  Год назад +1

      Yeah the dub as a whole isn't a masterpiece but it's worth getting through for Veronica Taylor's energy. If you've never seen the show watch the sub 1st would be my recommendation but if you're rewatching it give the dub a try. You might be surprised at how good it can be at times.

  • @stanchern3796

    The dub is great - that's true, yet I very much prefer the original soft voice of Japanese Yukino. She is very girlish and generally is so soft, that it sometimes even feels a little bit inappropriate for the over-the-roof animation style we see on the screen. Yet it opens the character up perfectly, in my opinion. Later in the show it cannot be more fitting overall.
