A clarification on counterspell and Flash of Genius: ruclips.net/user/shortsuXANK4Lnzts
Also thank you to people who noted that I forgot the ancestral guardian subclass for barbarians: ruclips.net/video/_C4WsDn4iJk/видео.html

The Artificer class is so much fun. Possible to take in all sorts of weird but still good direction.

You did miss a couple other "taunts" that work like Thunder Gauntlets. Cavalier Fighter gets Unwavering Mark, which taunts as long as the enemy remains next to you and works with any melee weapon attack. The same feature includes a limited resource used to make a special reaction attack, but the Mark itself isn't limited in number of uses. Overall it kind of requires Sentinel to keep enemies next to you, but luckily it is on the Fighter chassis so you have better feat access.
Barbarian's Path of the Ancestral Guardian has Ancestral Protectors, a version that only works on a single target and only while raging, but additionally gives targets other than you resistance to damage from the taunted enemy. This works well to tank big "boss" style encounters. It can also be applied with ranged weapons if you're up for a very niche ranged barbarian support build.
In the end I think I agree with favoring Armorer as the best version, but I think Cavalier is a close second, having good synergy with two powerful feats (Sentinel and Polearm Master) to include movement control and a bonus action attack with a spear or quarterstaff (which can apply an extra mark if you want to taunt multiple enemies).

there is also the sentinel feat that everyone can pick and it makes harder for enemys to get away from you

Both artificer and fighter have proficiency in Con Saving Throws. The saves that are different between the two classes are artificer gets proficiency in Int Saving Throws and fighter gets proficiency in Str Saving Throws.

I built the armored artificer with College of Swords Bard and Warlock to attack with Charisma. All the flourishes work well with Thunder Gauntlets. The cleaving flourish allows you to attack another time. Warlock smite is better than Paladin smite.

I wouldn't use sanctuary because it counteract with your taunt. Even if you give them disadvantage to hit anyone else, your not really protecting them if its still easier to attack your party then you.
I played an armorer tank, but i went artificer 3 bladesinger wizard x, i was concentrating on haste when there was a lot of enemies and bless vs low enemy count.
I'm just starting a new artificer wizard (currently lvl 2) and was planning to go abjuration wizard this time.
