  • A follow up to my mainly succesful video of more modern footage of Class 37s in action. This footage captured by my dad includes the Class 37/4 subclass from around 1993 until 2006. Most are captured in the Hereford area, West Midlands, North West and South Wales. The videos aren't in date order and run from 37401 upwards of the locos he did caputre on film. During this time alot of the locos stuck to regions hence why there are alot more shots of some than others!

    Great stuff, thanks! That's some serious torque when you look at how quickly a class 37 can pick up speed. 💪😎

      I saw a graph in a magazine recently, even compared to a 66 they have a respectable starting torque.

    Dont you just love the sound of these beasts at full throttle. They've got that roar and whistle that you don't get we the new diesels.

    I don’t know what it is about these 37s, ugly though that’s not the right word, but beautiful at the same time and the sound is amazing. Would love to see one up close again in the metal.

    there are many engines with similar power units to the class 37's but non of them can match the sound! Why is that???

    When I was a boy growing up in Coventry in the 1960s my parents use to go for a drink at the Royal Oak pub in Brandon and those 37s use to go tear-assing by doing what seemed to me to be a 1000 miles per hour with 10 or more carriages towing behind, I cant remember if they were the blue or maroon ones? I even remember steam trains pulling into Coventry station and scaring the bejesus out of me. But they were amazing days for sure! Great video sir!

    Never got to hear a 37 accelerate like some of these passenger services, more often or not they were getting going from carnforth loop with a fair old load behind them. Probably when the 37 sounded the best

    These used to double head the iron ore trains up the gradients to Consett in County Durham, I lived about a mile or so from a 1 in 35 stretch near Annfield Plain, I can still hear them labouring up on full bore, sweet sound, nearly as good as the 9F's that preceded them...

    First shot looks like Newport (NPT) sometime in the 90’s. Remember going there often to film the class 37’s and 125’s breezing through. No where near the same level of freight traffic today. We export little and what does come through is generally freight haulers pulling liquified gas or containers.

    • @MrThrash37
      @MrThrash37  Год назад

      Shame we don’t see as much freight now.

    • @andrewbutler6477

      Yes it's Newport used to see so many 37s here for so many years was a awesome sight and sound to hear these machines in the valleys with a heavy coal train now sadly gone
