Haha yeah, but we do have a lot to thank Tamiya for 👍 there will be a few on here in time. The wing is a jc racing products wing, a very good copy if the wing from back then. I like them as they do last a long time, and take a beating aswell 😁
Cracking video Richard, could have done with that about 5/6 months ago ;) ha ha . Those Pukka carbon parts look really good as well, shame I don’t have a cougar anymore to put them on lol. Keep up The good work lots of useful tips .
Yeah, was a bit late, but built my two classics the weekend they came out 😂 yeah the pukka parts buts are top notch, have a few bits on the xls 😎 just waiting on the carbon chassis now 😁
Hi Richard, that was another extremely useful Schumacher (rerelease) build video for anyone starting building one of these. I agree these cars are a hassle at times but also so great and interesting. TC - Maarten
Hi mate, I was having trouble with getting no rebound on the shocks but ended up solving that. Thanks for the tip on drilling out the pistons, the kit ones are way too firm, even with light oil. The springs for front and rear also seem way, way too firm, especially the rear. Cheers for these videos, really helpful for us guys new to these older style kits.
Glad its helped, if your lucky you can find the spring kits in shops or schumacher direct. Worth getting if your gonna race, but if your just driving it. It just wants to be a little softer 👍
@@lo2713 going to race outdoors on loose dirt in vintage class, some older ae green springs seem to fit so I’ll use them for now. A random question, the gearbox has a bit of a higher pitch sound to it, it’s reasonably free, although not as free as a gear based transmission because of the belt, is it normal for cougar transmissions to have that high pitch sound to them or perhaps it’s also the telescopic drive shafts that are contributing to it. It’s not bad, I’m just curious if it’s something you’ve noticed.
Where was this a couple weeks ago??? LOL!! Great tips and I learned a lot from my first experience with building one of these. I will probably get another Schumacher eventually but for now the one will do!
😂 yeah, would have saved you a few pennys from the swear jar 👍 ive not had a cougar to build. So thought i would use it. Atleast if you do a procat you’ll be able to boss the tricky bits 👍
Thank you for the tips video! Will definitely do the hole mod on the shock pistons 👍Just waiting for the Alloy Eccentrics to arrive from Schumacher and I'll finally start on the build 😊I do like the idea of having foam tape strips under the gearbox - could you point me in the right direction of the type you use and thickness? - Toby
@@lo2713 thanks. Flush cutters was a fail. I shot the circlip across the room, then spend 30min looking for it. I’ll try and find circlip pliers tomorrow!
@@johnfitness6731 if you have an old brushed motor roll it around where you think it landed. There great for finding small clips 😂 fingers crossed you get it next time 🤞
Another good build video. I did the shock piston mod as i didn't want to wait anymore for the muzzoom pistons, so i drilled mine out , but i didn't realise that they had different part numbers so now i have 8 pistons "cougar & procat" all mixed up . Do you know what the difference is or how to tell them apart .
Not to sure to be honest ? The smaller notch will be for the fronts, i didnt realise there was a difference, i’ll have to check mine, threw them all in the same box 😂
Guy , the original 1990 shock tower is 2 mm I've checked two different towers both 2mm. If you want to be fussy one tower is 2.15 mm and the other 2.13 mm both close but call it 2 mm.
Have watched this video many times during my cougar classic build. It is super helpful on many levels and a much appreciated post, thank you!
Cheers, allways happy to help with anything 👍
Great video! Another idea for a video would be setting the belt tension for the pro transmission. Cheers!
I can have a look at that, got one of my cougars to pull apart for a check over 👍
Thanks! Finally someone is showing in detail how to build Schumacher cars not like other channels. Love the Yokomo wing! Cheers 🍻🍻

Hi Maarten, a hassle indeed, but worth the extra effort needed 😁 glad you enjoyed the video
Nice job , great tips .......
Thank you, allways happy to help out if i can.

@@carlomac cant say ive noticed a high pitch sound ? Its one of those, its better to see/hear to see what it could be ?
I’ve always given up on those wing mounts man
I dont blame you, its a great idea, but a pain in the butt, esp as they only last about 6 months then perrish

Thank you 👍
Excellent.

I love my cougar, such a well mannered car considering how old the design is. I gotta get me a modern cougar too I think. Procat is on the way too
The procat is a great car to drive, the modern cougar is a great car, i may get another ? Whi knows 😁

Nice one mate 😎
Cheers, now to get my cars ready for the euro’s 😎
Great detail. Cheers sir.
Thank you sir
Good to watch, are the wheels and tyres any good on grass or are they best changed for something else? Any recomendations?
The tyres will work on grass, but ballistic buggy greens on the rear or yellow minispike are a better option.

Hi Toby, all i know is its 1mm thick glazing tape, we use it at work and i keep the decent offcuts 😉
Thanks for this. I’m just building a Cougar classic now too. Any tips for how to get the e clips in for the shock? 12:02
Ideally you want the circlip pliers, failing that, some flush cutters can be used, just take your time.

Given that…. Do you recommend adding a hole to the pistons in a new Procat build (indoor / carpet)?

Do you know if there are anti roll bars available for the cougar classic?
Sadly not off the shelf, but if you search true vintage schumacher on facebook, you should find a few posts how people have done it 👍
The wing mount set might be U3850 - not 100% certain.
You are spot on sir, and reminded me i need to order one 😁👍
Quick qestion - do you seal the edges of carbon with super glue before you put them on?
I personally dont, but its common for people to go over them with glue or clear nail varnish.
@@lo2713 Thank you! 👍
Have you seen people putting tape in the chassis for insulation? Why is this?
You could short a battery out if both terminals touch, but it would take some doing. But its better to be safe than sorry 👍
@@lo2713 what tape are they using
@@muddfoot69 think its called helicopter tape, its used to put on bikes and cars to help stop stone chips
