Carol Baker and Debbie Reynolds were both so beautiful. I saw this movie in a theater when it was first released and thought it was magnificent. Everything about it including the soundtrack was almost overwhelming. Gorgeous.
Definitely one of the most incredible movies ever made. Sadly virtually all the main stars are now no longer with us. RIP and thanks for the entertainment.
I was blown away by this movie! It was filmed as I remember with multiple lenses. The list of A actors was amazing. You’ll never see this again in a movie. 🍿 🎥 The music is fantastic!
To me there is no better movie, even _Gone With the Win_ and _The 10 Commandments._ I saw _How the West Was Won_ 15 times in Cinerama. It showed in Jacksonville, Florida at the 5 Points Theater when I was a senior in high school back in 1964.
Thanks for posting this... I never tire of watching the movie. A movie full of Hollywood greats. And first watched the movie likely when it was in its 2nd theater run in the Mid 1960s (Maybe 1968 if my memory is accurate). And once again, Hollywood shows how a great composer can make a movie a big winner: Alfred Newman.
Absolutely agree about the contribution from Alfred Newman. A mind-blowing score that mixed grandeurm excitement and heart-tugging emotion, and was a perfect partner for its material.
Great movie and music....I bet baby doll and karl malden liked working together again....I think Baby doll is the only star from the movie that is still alive? I remember when I was about 5 years old . in around 1963 or so, tney would play the music from how the west was won, over the speakers at the Frontier Village amusement park , all the time...I bet they got in trouble for that cuz they quit doing that a year or so later....ah...what great memories
A subplot was cut featuring Hope Lange as Stuart's daughter, Julie, who becomes involved in a love triangle with Zeb and King; she ultimately marries and abandons Zeb.
But with a variety of talents that always shone through in his roles. Hail to "The Music Man"! And it's easy to forget his early film roles in range of film adventures opposite the likes of Joel MCCrea and John "Duke"Wayne.
Movies super overrated and the angles are super hinky. Take out the musical numbers (I love musicals btw) and this movie would be infinitely more tolerable

Very very very nice program thank you so much ٠٠٠
Debbie Reynolds was so photogenic. Liked seeing the photos of Robert Preston on the set.

I'm crying! Thank you so much. It's one of the GREATEST MOVIES EVER MADE!
Wonderful film, saw it first aged 10 and I’ve been hooked ever since. Love these photos!
Terrific shots! I saw this as a 10 year old when it was shown at Cinerama in Los Angeles. Saw Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and Brothers Grimm there too.
I saw those two films where you did. I'm was 14 years old and loved both films. At the time i lived in Redondo Beach.
I could watch this stuff all day.
Debbie Reynolds. Wonderful. Met her once. Curiously met George Peppard as well. Absolute gent. He sorted out my temperamental camera.
As of 12/27/20 Carroll Baker is probably the only living survivor of the movie at age 89.
Also Russ Tamblyn. He played the Confederate Soldier/Deserter. Minor role short lived.
One of my favourite movies ever. Probably, the greatest collection of actors in one fim.
From my youth, my favorite movies were How the west was won, Ben Hur, and It's a Mad Mad Mad World
My family owns some of the property in these pictures, Great video thanks for sharing

A great movie and the wonderful Debbie Reynolds who was the real star of the film.Looks better than ever since its restoration
Great to see the camera set-ups with that giant Cinerama camera, plus John Ford directing. Thanks for posting.
Great work!
Way up there in my book, Jimmy Stewart,,, giant
Nice they repaired the film so we can watch it in full grandeur.
De todos los personajes siempre sentí mas afecto e identificacion co Linus ( J. Stewart).
Hey I want too see King Kong (1976 remake) with Behind The Scenes Photos please?
I've been saving pictures from that one for awhile, I'll try to get a few more before putting it up.
I think the only movie Walter Brennan plays a villain.
There are even pictures of HOPE LANGE even if she was not in the movie
She was cast as the daughter of Henry Fonda's character and her scenes were cut for some reason. Carolyn Jones replaced her.
A subplot was cut featuring Hope Lange as Stuart's daughter, Julie, who becomes involved in a love triangle with Zeb and King; she ultimately marries and abandons Zeb.
Robert Preston, second rate Clark Gable impersonator!
