The MVP of this entire video is Rumble Tumble. He came all the way to Quelagg and then followed Ryan Reynolds to Anor Lando to fight as a duo.

If you summon someone thats a way higher level than you, they will be "nerfed" i.e their stats will be reduced

My favorite part about watching this live was all the people who were mad at him not playing optimally, but somehow giving him even more sub-optimal or just flat out wrong advice.
God, I can just imagine it. Honestly RT really knows his way around the first Dark Souls, there's only like a couple of things I personally would have done differently, and they were only minor things.

The ceaseless discharge thing isn't even a cheese strat, it's just an intended way to deal with the guy. Hence why he has a special animation where he leaps over there and hangs until you smack his fingers to make him fall.
I think it might have been a "dev exit" considering the aweful enemy placement and the area in general.

I love and hate how most people completely misunderstand what's going on at that moment. "Oh, he just walks off the cliff because AI is dumb, cheese." No, he jumps to you to try to stop you from leaving with his sister's apparel which you stole. Also he has to have his arm released from his ribcage to even do that, and it's locked there at the beginning of a fight, so you have to put him in the condition to be cheesed in the first place.

The funniest part about CD's "cheese" strat is that, by all accounts, that is the INTENDED method the designers put in to beat him. The fight in itself is so bonkers, even compared to Bed of Chaos, that the instakill method is about as telegraphed as possible. Honestly if there was an option to run from bosses rather than only fighting them, the tactic might come more naturally.

When I fought him I didnt know about the insta kill method so I just fought him and beat him first try

@@HeIp_Me I did the same, I ran max fire resistance and he kept hitting me with the flame attack with a recovery long enough so I could use estus and hit him a few times. It took a bit but I didn't know how to do the cheese so that was my only option
You know that Miyazaki and his team had to put extreme amounts of effort in to making the enemies in this game have extreme amounts of cake
FromSoftware isn't able to produce a game that Miyazaki can't beat, so you can tell how difficult the game is going to be based on how MOTIVATING the character designs are.

I love that RT is playing through this game absurdly. The soulsborne games have some the most annoying backseat gamers who get real mad if you’re not doing it in a certain way. I love it.
To be fair, I don't think this is RT's first run at DS, and plenty of souls fans do wildly gamebreaking runs like this. I think the issue most people have is that trying to perform a gamebreaking run on your first try, you know, might not be the ideal introduction to a soulsborne game.
@@samueledwards5705 As much as I’d like to agree from my experience with the community people will just criticise your build and argue with you about even the weapon you use, been playing through bloodborne for the first time recently and I’ve settled on using the greatsword weapon since it’s familiar to me from being a DarkSouls player and this guy honestly wouldn’t shut up about how I was playing the game wrong and how I was trash purely based on the weapon I was using
@@IAmInsideYourWalls-wm9ek I'd more argue that's just a thing people do in general. I've seen the same thing with tons of other games, from Pokemon to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance to Skyrim. Hell, people bitched about how I played Euro Truck Simulator sub-optimally. The souls community does have its fair share of salt, but there have been more than enough helpful people to balance it out in my eyes.
I once beat the game with claws just to shit on the haters. Most fun I've ever had.

I have roughly 1500 hours in the 1st games initial release alone, I could tell immediately that he knew what he was doing. No one makes a B-Line for Blighttown without having some decent experience with the game.

He reached the end of the Demon Ruins, an endgame area, an hour or so into his run. He is absolutely doing it in an utter batshit way.
The game is open ended. You can just about go to any area you want in the game early on, you just gotta have the guts and skill to do so.

The "cheese" for ceaseless is not a cheese. its litterally the intended way to beat him, if it was not he would not have animations for jumping or for holding on to the ledge.
Fun fact. Ornstien is still alive in the cutscene( you can see their hand moving) but smough just murders them with no remorse and becomes gigantamax pikachu
Well he's not called Executioner Smough because he gives great life advice
The thing is, if you kill Smough first, Ornstein respectfully absorbs his humanity (portion of the Dark Soul) by placing his palm on the corpse, as befits one of the true Knights of Gwyn.
While it's an amusing image, reflexive muscle tightening can cause parts of the body to move even post-expiry, and one of the more common forms this takes is a closing of the hands.

I applaud your way of playing the game! I am tired of DS veterans telling people to go the “proper direction of progression” or to “play the right way”, the first game is open ended for a reason. I love seeing people playing the game their own way. I didn’t even went to the depths in MY first play through and I had a great time!
Hell yeah, let people enjoy the game like they want to! RT was having genuine joy throughout the entire stream and so who gives a shit if he didn't do it "the right way" haha, him bullshitting his way all the way down to the Ashen Lake for an OP reward and them him going in 1 hour from Undead Burgh to Anor Londo was so satisfying to see.
I would actually consider one of DS's major selling points that there IS no technical right way to play, as long as you have the skill to make it work and have fun with it, then anythings possible
Anyone who they're a DS veteran and then says that doing quelaag first is wrong doesn't know what they're talking about. Every good DS player does either pinwheel or quelaag first

tbf he clearly knows what he’s doing and has play the game before. Doing it the intended way does get pretty boring and repetitive so veterans like to spice up the playthrough and do challenges.
In my experience the DS veterans only backseat people to go the "optimal" route, rather than intended direction of progress. Master key, early upgrades, avoiding the catacombs until you're way overleveled, etc. Honestly I think that's part of the reason Pinwheel has a reputation as a meme boss (some of it is deserved), because the Catacombs are meant to be tackled way earlier with a much weaker weapon but veterans avoid it because there's no reason to go there until you have the Lordvessel.

I think the idea is that gorging yourself on Souls without something like willpower or physical might containing it you sort of just... get fuckin' fat. Same thing happens with Humanity (the Dark Soul as it were).

You thought RT can play a game without mucking around with gameplay/story . Mistakes have clearly been made.
well dark souls never tells you the story just by playing, you need to read item descriptions and talk to npcs to piece together the overall story. even then its alot of guessing and making your own connections. its pretty elaborate but by no means mandatory.
Just play the way he played, it's gonna be a interesting experience.

@@BLUEBOYISLEDGE Well RT is pretty good at the game too, and RumbleTumble was able to keep up despite playing solo. I think that’s impressive. It may not be that difficult to someone who’s played a ton of the game, but to me who has only beat it once I think it’s a nice achievement.
one of my favorite approaches to a game, the "Ill kill you before you kill me" strategy. Flawless... 40% of the time...
7:00 this one capra demon in demon ruins made me realize how decent the actual capra demon boss could be if they just removed the dogs and made the arena bigger. it would be pretty basic, but they could also make him a bit faster to compensate.

What rt did might seem insane, but remember, in ds 2 you can fight the first boss of the final dlc, Aava, as your first boss. It takes a lot of grinding, but you can do it if you are insane enough.

Well to be fair. The Halberd is absolutely a dex weapon. Scales more with dex than str.

For people who want to play, there's a zweihander in the boner graveyard at the beginning and its basically just better in every way except damage (at first) than the sword rt got. You can flatten pretty much anything. If you are having trouble, put points into poise and use a shield because it matters in this first game.

As someone who is playing this game for the first time this year, I'm taking this video as fact.
The beginning of Rtgame and RumbleTumble The quest to kill God.
I think the reason dark souls and its sequels/spiritual sequels became so popular in the first place and are still incredible to this day is because you're allowed to do things like this. not only is it a completely valid option, but the game doesn't baby you and try to hand-hold you out of areas with pop-ups or NPC's telling you "No, you shouldn't be here yet, play around in the low level areas little one :) ," you just do whatever you damn please. To quote Justin McElroy from the new Elden Ring Monster Factory "take the child locks off, and let me do my man business!"
Gonna be honest, within the whole vod, it’s a lot more impressive. He doesn’t really die all that much I don’t think.

If I remember correctly, the dragon weapons don't scale off stats at all, so once RT has enough strength to wield the greatsword, he doesn't need to put anymore in. I was hoping he'd switch to the black knight sword, it's one of my favourites through all the games.
