Today early morning, just before dawn I was walking to work and this song was sounding in my earphones. I was alone on the street and I was looking at this purple-red-gold glow on the sky and I felt like Last Of The Wilds.
You should do a streaming session of the whole show as that will give a much better feeling to the atmosphere! E.g. during this song the “Wardrobe accident” happened, bringing Floor in trouble with her outfit. In the next song “Bless the child” you can see her speeding for the microphone and making it in the last second (in the interlude of GLS going backstage to fix the zipper)🤓

Yes, Bless the Child is next. And Floor is almost late after her outfit change. It's the instrumental version, with a few differences, of the song Eramaan viimeinen (2nd single from Dark Passion Play), which has Finnish lyrics and sung by Indica lead singer Jonsu.
So love Eramaan Viimeinen. Jonsu's beautiful lilting vocals in Finish are so haunting and evocative of Finland's wilderness. Wish reactors would give it a listen and react. One of the few Nightwish songs in Finnish.
Got confused for a second in the beginning. I was looking for the guy with a stopwatch when Emppu did his 50 yard dash across the stage. I'm pretty sure he medaled! Is this band just fun to watch or what? And I really think they're having more fun than we are ... if that's even possible! Another great reaction, Jeff!

The Uileann pipes are a Celtic folk instrument, and Nightwish also has a tendency to not only blend folk music with metal, but also different styles of folk influence together. So for example in this song I would say it's largely in the vein of Nordic folk music tradition with the slightly melancholic but also almost heroic melody, but there's definitely a Celtic element thrown in there.
It is such a pity that he is no longer able to drum because of his health problems. Kai is also a great drummer and technically perfect but he misses the enthusiastic style of drumming of Jukka.

Surprisingly, not many reactors choose this. Floor doesn't sing. The different sounds of the band, the compositions by Tuomas, the tone of Emppu's guitar, the "walking" bass of Marko, the driving beat by Jukka, and Troys pipe and whistle work, actually show that they can entertain the crowd without Floor. Most new reactors get so hung up on Floor, the guys sometimes are invisible. Floor can sing names out of a phone book and it's cool, but no chills, goosebumps, and tears, without the boys.
I often lament the fact that Troy is undervalued by the fanbase and so little is written about him in Gabriel's Introduction. His contributions to Nightwish predate Floor and shows up in The Islander video among others. Maybe it's just me...
@@josephbishop3590 I very much doubt there's a better Uilleann pipe player in the world. Gives Nightwish a completely unique sound. So certainly not just you. My lass isn't all that keen on Nightwish but thinks Troy is brilliant, and this track in particular.
Floor is a great singer but she knows very well that her friends on stage are all highly talented and she always trys to point this out. You can see this when someone else is in front of the stage - she seems so happy when one of her friends has the chance to shine. And when she is on stage together with other artists, e.g. Epica, she seems to try to make herself "smaller" to not dominate the stage too much. She is one of these artists who automatically draw all attention to herself because of her great stage presence and personality and I sometimes have the feeling that she is not always happy about this. It was really funny to watch her singing together with Tarja - both women tried not to dominate but give her friend more space.

Totally not related to this brilliant song...well...kinda... this summer I fostered a litter of 4 kittens, Kai, Emppu, Jukka and Marko. Named by personalities. I played them Nightwish every day, including this song. They would recognize the music and immediately settle down to listen. On Monday, my last 2 boys, Jukka and Marko are going to their forever home....which happens to also be the home where Kai and Emppu live! The Nightwish kittens will be together forever!
The previous singer had a break at this point and as Floor had taken over mid tour, it was retained in the setlist. Subsequent setlists no longer contain a break for Floor and she sings the entire concert. These days she's even singing Marko's vocal lines. At the recent Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands she did an hour long solo show and a few hours later, an hour long set with Nightwish. I understand that it was scorching hot during the sets. She earns that glass of wine after the show. If you watch the next song in the set, "Bless the Child" you'll see Floor run for the mic as she had a costume change scheduled and things went wrong. The zipper under her left arm was jammed and she had to go on stage with the problem. Later in the set during "Ghost Love Score" you see her reaching for it as she leaves the stage. My guess is this is why Nightwish no longer has costume change breaks. :)
You can find almost all the songs you’ve already heard in instrumental form on whatever music platform you use. I love these version coz one gets to really listen to the music without that pesky Floor interrupting! 😜
You brought up the only instrumental... May I point you to the imaginaerum album to a song called Arabesque. Also , on the endless forms most beautiful album, there's a song called The Eyes Of Sharbat Gula. It's an instrumental that Tuomas said was inspired by the famous national geographic photograph of the Afghan girl with the huge bright eyes. He said when he began to put words to it, Troy I believe, said to put a few atmospheric sounds in it instead, and people would understand. And they have.
From what I understand it was far more organic but in my mind I always picture Tuomas addressing the band, "I think a whistle player is what the band is missing."

Jeff you look a lot like an old friend of mine Joey Ferraro, if I didn’t know better, I’d say you were brothers. Your last name confuses me a little, no vowel at the end? The name of your studio sounds Italian, you really look Italian, I’m really curious. Where I grew up it was names like Batalia, Versalino, Grispino, and Marcelo. The Ferraro’s ran a night club, back in the 30’s through the 50’s called The Gay Parita Ballroom. Almost everyone I grew up around was Italian, coal miners mostly. That’s why I ask, someone steal your final vowel?😊
hahahahaha, well the absence of the vowel at the end of my last name is due to the fact that I am Mexican and not Italian! :)
