  • Do you need a break from your usual routine and crave a bit of change? Join me in this video as I take a step back from my LARP projects and create a floaty, lightweight blush pink ruffled circle skirt that's perfect for any occasion. Inspired by the popular Selkie dresses, this three-quarter circle skirt features a ruffled tulle top layer and is made from a combination of inexpensive remnants and sale section yardage.
In this video, I'll show you how to create this stunning skirt without breaking the bank. With just a few basic sewing skills and some easy-to-find materials, you can make a beautiful and unique skirt that will turn heads wherever you go.
So come along on this crafting adventure and let's create something beautiful together!

    So pretty!
I was also just reminded that selkie is a posh clothing house, as well as the mythicological being I thought you were cosplaying.

Your short golden pixie haircut would make the outfit full of soft bright beauty. 😊

A beautiful garment crafted by the longest, deftest witch talons! Love the diaphanous flounciness.

I admit I thought "selkie" would refer to a seal-related skirt and that at the end you'd reveal you're a mythological creature. This is great too! 🤩
More seriously, that skirt looks amazing and I love how flouffy it is. I love how you broke down the process. I don't think I could make something this lovely but watching videos like this that break down the process helps me pretend I could.

So did I, I was getting so exited. This is a beautiful thing, but my mind went to a long (fake) fur cape with hood, subtle pattern in a dress, maybe a top that almost fades into the skin from a distance... oh well, overactive imagination at work again...

You could totally make the over skirt by hand. Tool is both easy and annoying to work with. There’s a clear elastic that you can nick it has amazing recovery. Easiest way to do the waist would be to measure the elastic to your waist tie it make sure it’s tight. Then just sew the edges over the elastic to encase. Or if you want a completely no sew option tie your elastic then take strips of tool and tie them to the elastic. You can double your strips and just put the ends through the loop, tie them single or both. Heck you could even loop them over a belt for something completely different!

The skirt looks really cool and ephemeral, but I am also admiring how green your grass is!

So glad you are "back!" My heart always sings a happy song when I see you have a new video or Ko-Fi post out. I will skip through the rest of my day, and hope you have moments of extreme joy to savor in the coming week. (P.S. I forgot to mention that pink is still very much my favorite color...)

I liked putting the fabric on the pattern instead of putting the pattern on the fabric. Excellent tip. Never thought of that. It certainly gets rid of that fold that sheer fabrics always like to make that throws off the whole cutting. Beautiful skirt.

    Very cute!
A friend of mine once made 3 massive tule petticoats in a row for costuming. She found that the easiest and fastest way to gather all of that netting was by using metal wire as a gathering "thread". But she was using the cheap and stiff netting, with larger eyes. But in case people are making something similar, it might work for them too. :)

What a lovely skirt, so floaty and pretty!
I do have lots of black tulle laying around for a project I changed directions on, so a goth version of this is probably in my future now. 😊

The whole ensemble is lovely, and I certainly hope the skirt helped keep you, if not cool, as least not too terribly hot!
Also lovely, the relaxed tone of the video.

Your tips for getting everything positioned just so under the rolled hem foot are exactly what I wish I'd had a few weeks ago.
Delicately lovely skirt; the effect as shown in the reveal is beautiful. I always enjoy seeing how people get a successful garment out of limited fabric.
When I'm hand-finishing the inside of a waistband, I like to whip-stitch into the seam that attaches the other side of the waistband to the skirt. No danger of catching too much fabric that way.

I just got one of those old singer sewing machines, would you create a video demonstrating how to thread, fill a bobbin, and switch between settings? Much appreciated. I just found your channel.
