    8 Minutes into the video, I stopped the video (to continue tomorrow) and ordered the pattern right away. I have been scouring the internet for years for a pattern like this. I can't wait to get it and start sewing. Thank you and your team a bunch!

    So far of all the sewers on RUclips that I watch, you're the only one that puts their straight pins in the correct way, not parellel to the edge.

    I love circle skirts. You make it look so easy. The one tip for hand sewing that I got my big sister who hand quilted, was run your thread once across real beeswax. It honestly keeps the thread from tangling and twisting as compared to unwaxed. I always keep my disc of beeswax in my sewing box!

    I bought your book before I knew who you were because I loved the style dresses it had in it. I felt very intimidated by the patterns. (Never sewn an outfit) then I came across your RUclips channel and you had shown the popover dress. WOW!! I loved how you go in full detail (not like most videos). Your step by step instructions makes me feel like I can sew an outfit now. I am just waiting for a few things and I will be making a dress very soon. Love your videos and your style.

      I'm a beginner at sewing, and I'm wondering how you found sewing her patterns? Was it more for experienced sewers or could a beginner figure it out (I'm okay with a little bit of a challenge, but don't want to be in over my head.

      @@sandracaraballo9830 I was supposed to learn to make the dress but unfortunately I have had some moments where I couldn’t try it. I had a bit of a difficult time making it for my size as I am short, curvy and thick. My friend use to make outfits told me once things get lifted she will assist me. Gerti explained everything right. I just couldn’t figure it out for my size. If you have the passion to want to try it. Go for it!! It is one of the simplest dresses.

    Re the bubble problem, I find that interfacing tends to expand slightly as it's ironed on. If I start in the middle and gradually work my way out to the edges, I end up with few or no bubbles, but instead have to trim off a couple of millimeters of overhanging interfacing.

  • @diminett6462
    @diminett6462 3 года назад

    Due to the bulk and felt not fraying another better way to finish your waistband is to lay the inside flat do not fold the seam allowance up inside then pin flat.
    Then on the right side machine stitch along the seam line pushing the stitch up under the roll as you sew. When finished the fabric rolls over your stitches making it invisible and in the inside it is flat and less bulky. Hope you understand this but it is a far superior finish for felt skirts.

      @@melishasimone Love it! Thank you for posting these videos - I haven't sewn in ages and this has inspired me. Also will be buying the Jiffy pattern book since it seems like it's good for a beginner. Thank you!!

    When I was growing up, any felted (always wool) circle skirt was just called a poodle skirt.

    I don't understand why you do interfacing in felt? Felt seems like a very sturdy fabric already, I don't see why it needs reinforcing?
    I personally hate interfacing. To me it seems to be merely a superfluous bit of plastic, I don't see any difference in the clothes that I've ditched the interfacing from to the clothes where I put it.

      Bad quality interface can be a superfluous bit of plastic, but good quality interfacing makes a garment last longer and look more professional. Of course you can sew your garment without it if you prefer.

      @@GertiesWorld Since I got your attention, do you have a sew along for the beautiful blouse you paired with the pretty skirt? I've been coveting the pattern for a while now, but am unsure of purchasing it, also because I know I'd have to make a small bust adjustment.

      We don't do one on one sewing classes but there are plenty of how to videos on the channel. I'd recommend checking any local craft stores to see if they offer lessons if you'd like a little more help starting out.

    Ngl, I could fit my Chihuahua in one of those pockets, and it would probably be spacious enough that she'd snuggle down and stay out.

    Why don't you show how to draft all these so we know hiw to start, how to drift the skirt, how to spread open it ,from star to finish .its kind of difficult to follow because you don't show how to draft ,cut before sew.ww need to see all that dear.
