First English blend I ever had. The clouds parted and the heavens smiled at me.
Haven't had this blend yet, but my first English blend experience was like that. I had not been interested in Latakia until that point. Tasting leather didn't sound appealing. But OHMY! That first English smoke was divine!
I'm not a fan of Latikia blends, but I absolutely loved the video. I'm a big fan of classic movies, including and the Maltese Falcon so you hit a home run with me with your production quality. Nicely done sir. Thank you!

Maltese is definitely a staple in my six blend rotation. It is one that I usually stray away from for short stretches and then drift back to. And everytime, it’s amazing when I go back. Full, smooth, flavorful. Not temperamental in the bowl. Glad you liked it!
I have recently bought a tin of Mississippi Mud and Peterson 3 Ps...Been smoking cigars past 5 yrs. or so but decided to go back to pipes.I bought the 3 Ps first,tried it for a couple weeks....it's ok.Just bought MM,I like it better.

I've been waiting for this one! Watching your First Impressions video, I couldn't square your enthusiasms and those of others, with my recollections of smoking this blend in 2007. Didn't like it at all! And I'm an English blend smoker since 1971. And a long time fan of Greg Pease. May have to try this again. Or not. Great video!

I believe Maltese Falcon has deertongue in it.
I'd be surprised to find that to be the case.. the blends I have had with deertongue in them, it was pretty obvious just from looking at them in the tin there was some other herbal component in there, but with Maltese Falcon you can't see anything like that.

Agree with your review. This blend has the "legendary" ginger infusion of some kind. But maybe it's the Orientals. This is an easy smoke, smells great and highly recommended.
The near legendary JimInks says, “The “mysterious spice” is apparently ginger, though I would not have guessed that. It’s very mild, but lingers through most of the smoke. “ Your mileage may vary.

Heyyy Bradley I must agree withyou MALTESE FALCON is a very tasty blend I was gifted it and I smoked it I had three bowls and I was in love lol I get a taste of mabe a wine typing of some sort I'm not sure but I can tell you I love it its a blend that I'd say I'd have on special occasions it's just that good and I get a richness from it I love the latakia that's added I'm loving it andill be keeping it around for special times thanks so much for reviewing this Bradley you did a great job as always my friend happy smokes 😃👋🔥💨☕💯

Been curious about this one for awhile now.
Given the history of the blend you'd think they'd reach for something with "phoenix" in the name. This review makes me really curious about the differences in the smoking woods and spices between Cyprian and Syrian Latakia. That might be the clue to figuring out the spiciness you're tasting, because maybe Greg was trying to fill in a gap he perceived. The blend sounds great and thanks for the review!

This was a regular smoke for me until I found Abingdon. Still like it, but I've always favored Balkans over English and Abingdon just hits right.

@@MooreThanaPodcast I don't have much to compare it too. I'm not a new pipe smoker but I took a decade off. I smoked HH House of Lords about 11 years ago and it is somewhat close to that. I took such a liking to it because it is a full bodied english but easy smoking and it smokes well in all 3 of my english blend pipes. It just has just been a postive expierence all around. Hope that helps lol.
Been smoking this for about a week. I am disappointed with this blend. It's just sorta ok. I love the cut, but that's about it. It gave me a greater appreciation for 965, Artisan's Blend, etc. Maybe it will grow on me. I hope so because I bought a giant can of it.
This blend saddened me. I was so ready to love it, but it is just meh. Barely can taste the Latakia. The Red Virginia dominates it.
Had to smoke a bowl of pirate kake to cleanse my palate afterwards.
I could have sworn there is some sort of topping on it, if there is or isn't it's damn good. I always look forward to your reviews because your taste closely matches mine. I don't often buy from the USA as I'm in the UK, but this one is always on my order list. I have a suggestion for you: Peter Heinrich's Strong Dark Flake!

Haha! Nope. It was on the same day when the lapel mic wasn't working, but I didn't know until I was editing it. I planned on dressing up and doing it B&W from the start.
Great video! I enjoyed the change in format. I recently opened an aged tin of MF and really liked it. I agree with your assessment, it’s complex but not busy. I compared it to some aged Dunhill Nightcap and I’d have to say I’m leaning towards the MF.

As a fellow Washingtonian…do you get tobacco online? I’m new to pipe tobacco but the state laws make it tough to ship in new things to try.
He talked about that a few months back. If I understood correctly, you could no longer buy tobacco online. Sounds crazy. If I remember the video I'll share it, but it was probably 6 or 8 months back.
Agreed that this easily becomes the go to basic English. MM965 is usually in that role for me but MF is right there when Margate or Artisans Blend or Gaslight are just too much.
