I got the 29 gen 5 (even though I'm not much of a 10mm guy - really love it and am going to get a G30. My G30 gen 4 has been incredible and is probably more accurate than my G21 - go figure. Great review - subscribed!
Awesome video and awesome companion to the Ruger for sure. We definitely need to get together when the weather warms up and I get through all these shot show product reviews
According to the Biology Classes I took in college back in 1973 Left Handers are actually 25% of the population. I'm a South Paw too so I appreciate this video . This sounds like what I'm looking for as a CCW Pistol . If you've found any good IWB Left Hand Holster ideas for this I'd be interested in a video on them also. Colion Noir just did a video on this a couple of weeks ago but not from the Left Handed Perspective. Have you tried this Pistol with Cast Bullets ? I've heard the Glocks with Polygonal rifling don't like Cast Bullets.
I don’t reload cast bullets yet. Mainly just Berry’s plated and Hornady jacketed bullets. As far as a holster, I use a sticky holster that cover the trigger guard well. I’ll keep a lookout for an IWB holster that works with it and will update you if I find one. Thank you for watching!
Great video. It's refreshing to hear a reviewer who speaks like most people, instead of the phony sounding, long vowel infested, robot speak, that's so fashionable!
I’m curious , I have a G30S I bought new back in 2014 .I’ve also owned several G21s . My 30S has in interesting looking chamber. Where the feed ramp meets the beginning of the chamber there are scalloped cuts on each side of the ramp . I can see where this would certainly aide in the round chambering . Does the G30 Gen 5 have this ? Excellent review !
Thanks! Same here. I write with both hands, most all else is left but play right handed guitar because that’s all that was around when I was younger. Lol.
Glock always does this in that they release standard version first, then 6 months later the MOS version. They sell more Glocks that way . Just wait a bit and they'll come out sooner or later? Took them 4 years to finally release Gen 5 26 MOS and I had to pick one up.
Yeeeeah I'll subscribe. I'm one-off them European gamer nerds who only gets to watch handguns , but been doing so for a bit now. Maybe one day I'll get to a range. ✌️
I owned a Model 30 several years ago. It can be concealed, but does have some weight to it. But I regularly carry full size pistols, including Glock 20's and 21's.
In my opinion, getting a slide cut for the optic is better than MOS. It alleviates the need for a plate and allows you to get the red dot lower on the slide.
When he first started the video of him shooting at the range. Look at the extraction pattern for those casings. that's ridiculous, especially from a Glock. I have a Glock 27 Gen 5 and you can put a bucket next to me in every round to go right in that bucket. That's not the case here.
Nice choice. The only caliber I carry with just plain old FMJ (Hardball) ammo for self-defense, everything else I carry has Federal HST JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) in it! I've owned a G30 gen4 for over 10 years and it's a great shooter. I'm a right hander so a left handed slide release means nothing to me. Front serrations are nice but not worth buying a gen5 if you already own a Gen 4 in my opinion. My Trigger is sweet already from the 25 cent trigger job I did on it when I first bought it and over a couple thousand rounds I've ran through it over the years!
The fiber optic night sights make it easier for me to pick up the sights. I usually get green rear sights and yellow front. The contrast helps with quicker target acquisition for me. And the light, I just like how they look on a gun. Have never had to use one for anything, but nice to know I have it.
@@sacrificialscience4405 Yeah, I have that stuff on my full-sized guns but not my carry. I figure to keep my carry as small as possible and no need to sight in a suspect, when most of them would be a threat within 3 feet of you. ;)
@@tree3po very true. I have some smaller Glocks with nothing on them that I use for summer carry. The 30 is pretty big, so the TLR7 doesn’t really add much to it.
@@prime30_46 it does. An adjustable waist on your pants/shorts helps…I also started running a wedge from Mastermind Tactical that makes appendix even better. 👍🏻
Lots of people are perfectly capable of hitting accurately with stock sights. I do, out to 25 yds, which is as far as my range goes. And the Gen 5 trigger is fine by me. I did the polish job and got rid of all the grit, but that pull and break is consistent and easy to feel.
The 5th gen barrel has different rifling. I consider hard cast to be on another level than traditional lead bullets and acceptable to shoot in all Glock barrels.
It’s good to see more left handed people on RUclips
All 6 of you!😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Too many lefties in the country....
I’m considering the 30 this made me want it more now. Nice video
@@anthonyf3621 thank you! I really like mine. Great gun

I just got the Glock 30 SF. I love it
I’m a new subscriber
Nice! I carried an SF for years. Thanks for subscribing!
Same. One of my favorites. I'm mainly an M&P guy, but I love the 30SF. Definitely my favorite Glock.
I use it with a G21 mag and an X-grip. Basically a snub nose 21.
Check all the bottom of your mags. Gen 4 30, one had a backwards logo and I believe it was intended to change that endplate.
I’ll definitely look!
Just purchased a Glock 30 gen 5. LOVE THE GUN. Have you found IWB Holsters for it?
No not yet. Still carrying it in a sticky holster

Thank you brother! Let me know when. I’m cool whenever you are!
I'm going to get my glock 30 next week thanks for the review and I'm also a lefty.

Thank you very much! They’ll probably come out with a 30 gen 5 mos next year so I have to buy another one. 😅
I think you may have forgotten to mention width/ thickness comparisons!
Those details are all available on the Glock website or handgunhero

@@thomascarpenter7415 thank you very much! It looks like there are some cuts as you describe on the Gen 3 as well.
Love my Glock 30s gen 4, the finger grooves give another square inch or 2 of grip. Gonna stick. Enjoy that gen 5. 😉
How would you compare recoil between the full size 21 and compact 30?
About the same really. The shorter grip doesn’t make much a difference on my grip with the extension on the mag.
Very nice and informative video, staying tuned for the 500 round review
Should hopefully have it out this week coming up
And thank you!
Hi, glad you’re back! I’m back to watch lol I’m ambidextrous, bat, golf, bowl, shoot, both hands. Nice pistol.
Thanks! Same here. I write with both hands, most all else is left but play right handed guitar because that’s all that was around when I was younger. Lol.
I completely understand, as a kid no bowling balls were drilled left handed, same with golf. So I just learned to do everything with two hands. lol

I got one question? I have a Glock 30s because the slide is thinner than the 30 Gen 4 that I have before. The Gen 5 slide is thinner or thicker ?
The Gen 5 is the same width as the Gen 4
How the weight when carrying? How easy is it to conceal
It’s pretty noticeable as far as weight. For conceal ability, it’s like carrying a Glock 19. Can be done, but you will notice it.
I owned a Model 30 several years ago. It can be concealed, but does have some weight to it. But I regularly carry full size pistols, including Glock 20's and 21's.
i have both the older G30 and the last G36 and never an issue, so there is no reason for me too upgrade to the Gen 5 G30
I want both have a 30sf and it you can't beat it and it's nostalgic feel
Can never have too many anyways! 😂
Can't find any Gen5 magazines with the orange follower. 😢
That sucks man. The Gen 5 base plates look better too
Great video man.
Thank you!
There’s a slide release on other side now? Been waiting for Glocks to do that
All of the Gen 5 Glocks have that now.
The internals are stamped. File and polish and wow better trigger.
Mush goes away….
I have the Glock 30g gen 4 it is may favorite Glock would like to shoot the gen 5
I’m really want to purchase the Glock 29 and Glock 30 Gen 5 but I want an optics cut. Should I wait for the MOS version or just get the slide milled?
In my opinion, getting a slide cut for the optic is better than MOS. It alleviates the need for a plate and allows you to get the red dot lower on the slide.

That was probably when I had mixed ammo in it. I do that when I get a new one to see if it messes up.
@@sacrificialscience4405I noticed that too. I had an early Glock model 30. Picked it up used, around early 2000.
Is Glock going to offer the G30 Gen 5 in the MOS version?
I haven’t heard if they will or not.
Is the gen 5 available as a 30S? Does it have the fat gen 4 30 slide or the thinner 30S (36 slide)?
It’s not available in the S model. Glock has the specs on their website. Can’t remember the exact number
@@sacrificialscience4405 Thanks,
Greetings, I have a G30 gen 5, what hoster do you have for it? Thank you
For now, I have it in a Sticky holster. Fits very well.
You're not supposed to use any finger to drop the slide. The proper way is racking the slide with your support hand.
I’ve heard that before and watched videos on it. Still going to do it though. 🤣
You say it is FIVE AND HALF POUNDS!!!! WOW
The weight of the trigger pull is 5.5 pounds

question: why the need for new sights and light for a carry pistol?
The fiber optic night sights make it easier for me to pick up the sights. I usually get green rear sights and yellow front. The contrast helps with quicker target acquisition for me. Both slides are 1.12 wide according to their website. I can get my hand around the Gen 5 better than a Gen 3 sf.

Yes it is
I like my gen 3 30sf
I had the G30 Gen 4 so how is it compare to that are they the same thickest thinking about going back to it.?
I believe they are very close in size, but the Gen 5 frame without the finger grooves fit my hands better.
@sacrificialscience4405 Thank you sir I will go to my LGS and see if they have any and check it out.
Does the mag / grip pinch your pinky?
Haven’t had that issue with any of my Glocks.
Iv got a question is this gen 5 bigger than the sf
Maybe just a hair. It really doesn’t feel much larger though. And I only wear a large glove. So my hands aren’t that big.
I did away with the finger grooves with a Dremel tool and sand paper.
