- This is a shorter version that Steve Howe plays on his interactive cd-rom that was released a long time ago and almost impossible to get a hold of these days. Fortunately, someone posted a few videos from that cd to RUclips, and it's that version you can learn here - NOT the whole album version, but the shorter version he sometimes plays live as part of his solo acoustic set and with Yes. Enjoy. It's a great tune to learn. Not too difficult, but challenging.
Always loved this piece, but never imagined I would be playing it. T
hank you, John! --- great Lesson.
Hi David, thank you so much. I'm delighted to hear you are enjoying playing it. It has s few tricky bits, but I find the essence is in the feel of how you play it. It's such a beautiful piece.
Wow. This is one of my all time favorite songs, since when I was a teenager. I've never felt competent enough to figure it out and the VERY few videos I've seen have not been tutorials and I've never been able to make out much more than the basic chords, but THIS is AMAZINGLY helpful and sounds SPOT ON! I can't wait to give it a go. Thank you so much for this, and I look forward to checking out your other videos as well!
Thank you so much. I'm delighted to hear that my breaking it down is helpful. When I make an instructional video, I try to make the video that I would want and need to learn a tune from scratch. I also try to avoid making assumptions that just because it's a Steve Howe piece that the person learning the tune can play on a similar level. I always think how can I keep this simple and as helpful as can be, for everyone. So, I'm very happy to hear that the video is helpful to you. Stick with it and learn it bit by bit. One little piece after another, and before you know it, you will have the whole thing in your fingers. Try not to worry about how long it takes. Best thing is taking it bit by bit, slowly and patiently. Good luck with the tune - it really is a joy to play. All the best. John
Bloody wonderful stuff!
Hi John, I am sorry to hear that you were ill, and glad that you are back...! Thank you for this video demonstrating the acoustic parts of "Turn of the Century." If I could be greedy, I would love to see you demonstrate the electric parts also. I have learned much from your lessons, and hope to learn more. Thank you very much!
Love this song, I'm learning it now, can't wait to be able to play most of it through. Thanks for putting this video out.
Hi John, I love this song too. I'm happy to see it's helpful. You'll get a much better idea of Yes music and how Steve Howes plays guitar by learning and playing it. If you ever post a video of you playing it, I'd love to see it. All the best.
Lovely playing John.
Hi John. Glad you’re better! Nice lesson & lovely sounding guitar. I’ll give this one a go; it’s a lovely song. Thanks.
thanks for your support 👍
youtube sent me notifications so have been enjoying your music glad your recoveriing from corona
Wish I could play guitar... Tiny fingers
Thanks Evelyn, I'm almost over Covid. Still feeling it in my chest and breathing, but here's hoping it will clear up. Re: learning guitar. It's never to late to learn an instrument. The joy of playing an instrument is always there as you play, its not something you get only when you are proficient. It's there right from the very first time you produce a few musical notes.
Really enjoyed your lesson and you seem a nice fellow too.
Thank you for that.
Thanks Billy, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and to be able to pass this on.
Wonderful.
Thanks Lionel, It is a truly wonderful piece of music.
Sweet

Thx, again, for the lesson. I struggle with that stretchy F#m run near the end, but it’ll come with more practice. Here’s my take: ruclips.net/video/7q30apGJKrQ/видео.html with credit to you for teaching.
