Mr. Howe is no average player. He is a life changer. His abilities make me feel insignificant after spending 50 years as a player myself. One of God's gifts to us. Thank you Steve. Bravo.
Steve Howe is your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist. Same as Chris squire is your favorite bassists favorite bassist. They just have “it”. YES matters more to music than ever given credit for.
+rmueller66 Wakeman is also the brain. the band used him to make instant changes/modifications/transposings for songs and riffs, as he is probably the most trained of music theory in the band, and he did it without hesitation.
i've been loving Steve Howe's guitar music for more than 40 years. It makes me relax deeply satisfaction. At the point, he is the best guitarist in this world to me. Athough,I have many favorite guitarists but his music about guitar is the best match with me. He has gotten classic sense in the original stance, that is one of the biggest reason. And I love Art that is impossible to say but Yes music does, Right ? Everyone here I think you know what I mean. So I love Rick Wakeman too. I respect him and love his way forever.
This man was a gift to me in my most impressionable years. Still is!!! Mood for a Day was the first classical piece I ever learned. Thought I'd never figure it out! But when I did, everything came together. What I really like about him. Is he can play it so many different ways, that you learn what the SONG is....
10 years? Man, you are quick!!! 20 years later and I find some passages still impossible! I mean, those legato runs on G or some chord changes. I loved the version of the last guitarist in Deep Purple, the blonde man with the Music Man guitar........ Steve Morse. Wow, so a talented guitarist.
The most amazing guitarist! And so humble too... I just saw Steve in concert with YES recently and he is one of the greatest living guitar players on this Earth!
it's truly amazing to me that he can remember to play all these incredible song's but then I remembered that he was the one too write all of these song's and not get stale after all of these years. Steve Howe is the best guitarist to have ever lived and he is still going strong. Thank you for uploading this fantastic video and thanks to yes for all the great music through the years. rest in peace Chris Squire you will be missed Greetings from Atlantic City New Jersey
For the younger guitar players, you just witnessed one of the greatest living virtuoso guitar players on the planet. As a founding member of YES and then ASIA it was his master skills as a composer and song writer that sold tens of millions of records. This was Steve playing a few of his own composed pieces at his best, no pedals, no distortion, no back up instruments and no vocals. Go back and watch the masterpiece Mood for a day and pay attention to flawless cord progression and intricate changes in timing and you will understand, there is nothing that can be critiqued. A master of his craft in performance. Truly a one of musician, song writer and composer!
Steve made my classical my favorite guitar. In case I'm ever stuck on an island, I have made my choice. Learning Mood For a Day was the instigator... then learned some Segovia tunes. Still have that classical from 1989.
I'm very much the same. mood for a day was one of the first, then some segovia now I play a lot of mateo carcassi. started on the clap a few weeks ago and nearly have it 100%. such an inspiration!
Steve plays a fine selection of his solo pieces here. Setlist: The Ancient/Leaves of green: 00:00 J's Theme: 04:38 Mood for a day: 08:20 Second Initial: 12:27 To be over: 15:38 Intersection Blues: 20:18 Clap: 22:30
First time I heard of steve guitar performance in Asia group (1982) I was 12 years old and it was different sound with his electric Gibson's. Then I started to listening Mood 4 a day, Ancient, Clap and all of Yes songs.... It's really amazing with different taste of music, Steve & Yes is very sophisticated but ultimately beautiful.... no other guitarist can performed & play like Steve Howe, the maestro!
One of my top 5 (the five are all ones with me), and in my mind he is the absolute king of harmonics, uses them flawlessly and at inspiring moments of the pieces he places 👌👏👏👏🎸✌️
Guitar Player of the year 7 years in a row in Guitar Player magazine. I started listening to him when I was 12. His classical background always shows up. Fabulous
I have seen Yes twice. How can they mention great guitar players and not include him. I bought Steve Howe's "Not Necessarily Acoustic" C.D. and became a fan
S.Howe was one of my idols , being good guitar player is good , being a guitar's song composer is much better , when Steve Howe composed "mood for a day" was a serious piece for a rock progressive guitar player,he influenced many musicians study or practice classical guitar
Totally agree! The whole world knows Howe is more than a great guitar player (any style/instruments), nevertheless he is more impressive to me as composer! First with The Syndicats, then Tomorrow, and to blossom inside Yes, Asia and GTR. Self-taught instrumentist into constant evolution, he amazed me with his musical creations. His creativity was always at high level, very close to perfection, every note is always at the right place, and he created so many prog classic tracks it is difficult to say which one is the best because there is so much! For me, he is the Einstein of electric guitar! A guitar player must give me emotion firstly, and they are just a few able to do that: Paul Kossoff, Robin Trower, Frank Zappa, David Gilmour, Steve Howe, each one with their own different style, however on a composer side Howe is my fav one by far! It is as if he was especially born to play on that guitar instrument, able to create (and often emulate by Jon Anderson) wonderful songs with long instrumental parts, and had been touched by the magic for his technic to play that bewitched electric or acoustic 6 strings!
Guitar Player Magazine used to have a reader's poll. If anyone won a category five times they were no longer available to be selected and they were placed into "The Gallery Of The Greats". Steve Howe is in "The Gallery Of The Greats" because he won Best Overall, five years in a row.
Watching this makes me appreciate Steve Howe as the complete guitarist in a world of guitar players and guitar heroes. Truly inspiring to give equal attention to both hands and diverse technique.
all the superlatives, and yet one simply cannot but be amazed with him ! i adored him with his electric guitar. now he simply left me dazzled .... tnx taky67
Been listening to YES my whole life...know every chord mr.howe plays like it's programmed in my DNA ..this sounds exactly like the record ...I just want to cry....certainly one of the great guitar masters of all time.( And self taught).
Mr. Howe is no average player. He is a life changer. His abilities make me feel insignificant after spending 50 years as a player myself. One of God's gifts to us. Thank you Steve. Bravo.
AMEN to that brother!
World's greatest guitar player! Plays ALL genres, ALL styles! The mark of a great guitarist!!
You know I think you're right
When I hear him successfully emulate Django Reinhardt or Segovia or even Jeff Beck, I'll agree with you. But so far, not even close.
Say what you want....even if this isn't your style or blazing fast.... this man is definitely one of the best guitarist ever.
Jerry Myers He is capable of fast playing, isn't he? Just look at those hands, perfectly designed for the guitar.
Jerry Myers super agree
+Jerry Myers , and self taught .
+Jerry Myers oh yeah. definitely. He says so much with the guitar. I just love his music.
+Jerry Myers Yes, and the word is melody.
My appreciation of Steve Howe goes back 40 50 years
My. Favorite. Guitarist. Ever! Thanks for all the years of fascinating music, Steve!
poetesstx This has inspired me to listen to GFTO tonight; although I already had that idea in mind: I am really going to listen to GFTO tonight.
Maravilloso
Sin dudas el mejor guitarrista de todos los tiempos
Totalmente..absolutamente brillante..un virtuoso.
Took me ages to decide who I liked best out of Hendrix, Page & Clapton. It was Howe!
Why should one “decide”….why not like all the above
That's a good one.
This is the medicine the sick world needs today. And the ever so humble Dr. Steve has got the best stuff.
Steve Howe is your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist. Same as Chris squire is your favorite bassists favorite bassist. They just have “it”. YES matters more to music than ever given credit for.
I could watch Steve Howe play like this all day. Mesmerizing.
not only a great guitarrist, also great composer. love his tunes
There is precision and there is noise. There is Steve Howe and there is everyone else.
STEVE HOWE IS A LIVING LEGEND
So heartbreaking we lost Peter Banks and Chris Squire😭
Love Steve Howe SO much. Such a lovely crystalline sharp transparent sound and style all of his own.
There is nothing like an acoustic in the hands of a master, to showcase his true genius!
Steve Howe, a virtuoso, technical guitarist.
He doesn't make extravagant sounds with the guitar, he plays.
Excellent guitarist.
What an underrated talent!
Underrated? How old are you? 15? The guy had devastated the Guitar Player polls for decades, no musician can say a negative word about him.......
The Brain of YES! Anderson, the Heart and Squire (RIP), the Soul!
+rmueller66
Wakeman is also the brain. the band used him to make instant changes/modifications/transposings for songs and riffs, as he is probably the most trained of music theory in the band, and he did it without hesitation.
I couldn't have said it any better. all of the years that have gone by and Steve is still the one that sets the tone of the song's.
Nice analogy, never thought of it that way...
This guy and Holdsworth, man. These two were the shit
Beautiful melodies!❤

Likewise but took me nearly 10 years😊
Took me nearly 10 years to play the clap and mood for a day but worth every moment of effort. What a beautiful and inspiring musician Steve is😊!
Mr. Howe proves God wo even trying.
Your statement is much more profound than most people realize. Intelligent design.
The most amazing guitarist! And so humble too...
I just saw Steve in concert with YES recently and he is one of the greatest living guitar players on this Earth!
"The Ancient" is my favorite Howe piece!!
Now that's 'Howe' you do it!
I’m a Steve Howe since ‘77🎶
So my best guess is Progressive Bluegrass Classical Folk Baroque Flamenco Country Rock, I think?
or Presenting The Maestro! Steve Howe!
That's exactly what I was thinking. Lol.
it's truly amazing to me that he can remember to play all these incredible song's but then I remembered that he was the one too write all of these song's and not get stale after all of these years. Steve Howe is the best guitarist to have ever lived and he is still going strong.

Greetings from Atlantic City New Jersey
😊💜💜🎸
This guy is unreall all expressions of love for him you'are fantastic greetings from Brazil
Definitely one of the greatest
Yes signing Steve was the likely the best thing that ever happened to any band, ever.
Kinda like when Pink Floyd signed Gilmour, huh
He is so special. We have such a big gateway to his soul.
..angels...listen to this❤
Уважаемый Стив , очень вдохновляет к творчеству твоя музыка - благодарю !
Brilliant. One of my all time guitar heroes! God bless Steve Howe. ❤

To be Over is one of Mr. Howe’s favorites. Which he mentioned in the liner notes for Natural Timbre.

Talent beyond talent....
I love it when he plays 'To Be Over'.
When you hear him play live it is the best especially when he does it with Wakemen and Anderson last we forget Squire
Steve Howe, the number one.
Eh sì ha sicuramente pochi rivali ! Siamo lontani dal mondo del rock in uno spazio ormai tutto suo. Andrea
Número 1..!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥇🥇🥇
I Love Steve Howe. 'So sorry to learn of the death of his son. Sad news, indeed.

master, just the master and no more
One of the best ever he can stand toe to toe with Chet and they can both smile and just play, like old friends.
Sublime Steve Howe
This is how you play the guitar, all those shredders have no sense that the guitar was made to speak with expression ,bravo maestro bravo
I have seen yes but wish I could see Steve live like this! Awesome!
What I think separates this genius from most is how someone so skilled found a way to present his craft to so many and in such diverse ways
all the superlatives, and yet one simply cannot but be amazed with him ! i adored him with his electric guitar. now he simply left me dazzled .... tnx taky67
inspirational guitarist, one of a kind!! Thanks Steve for all those beautiful compositions and Taky67 for sharing this.
