Eh? Salsa's Timberjack is very well known within both hardtail and bikepacking community but I guess to beginners it is something they may have never considered.
Salsa doesnt care about weight that much(same goes for Kona or brands like this). It is not a race bike. Also those plus tires are heavy because they are a mass of rubber.
I just got the 29! Absolutely love it!
I had a ‘21 Timberjack 29er with the SLX build. Hands down, one of my favorite do-it-all bikes! I regret selling it.

Looks amazing !!!
I thought plus meant 2.7 up to 3.5 and that 2.6 wasn't plus, but just a big wheel.
I wish I could. Way more bike than I need and way out of my price range 😢. And I live in MN
You left out one feature😊: 3 warranty
Edit: Salsa says the warranty is 3years
I'm no engineer, but that rear dropout looks structurally weak to me.
Nice bike but its heavier than my Trek top fuel 8 2022 :-)
Would you be amazed that a Porsche 911 weights less than the Cayenne?
You're comparing these two bikes simply because... they're both bikes? Make it make sense 🤔
Being weight weeny on mtb? You should try being a roadies like me if you cares about bike weight 😂
