So glad Simon is getting a feature on your channel, such a funny genuine dude and a fantastic player!
Loved his London series too and genuinely enjoyed his commentary with GM Jovanka and GM Howell- seemed like a dream team.
@@guzimirHR he has some great tilted Tuesday videos as well, some of them are years old but all good watches
Simon is one of the OGs, makes it extra enjoyable seeing him pull off such a beauty otb!
OG of chess??😂
@@notnottsnottingham8677 og's of chess community on YT. Did you watch the video?
@@notnottsnottingham8677 OG ??
@@NghiaTuanLe lol.....Original Ganster
@@notnottsnottingham8677 hahaaa, nah! An OG of chess "content" like Agadmator does and was referring to at the start of this video. Chess is a lot older than Simon!
Crushing victory for the Ginger GM and he did not even move Harry.
I know, he must be slipping. 😄😄
GINGERGM’s idea of anti-positional
Harry wanted to rest that day
Is Harry the h pawn haha
@@j.d.kurtzman7333 Arry, Barry, Charlie, Derek, Eddie, Freddie, Gary, and Harry
When Alexander Graham bell invented the telephone he had 3 missed calls from Simon Williams.
Simon asked if he bought his Dee Vee Dee
Lmaooo 😂💀💀💀
@@murattuna3524 🤣🤣🤣
Harry looked on in blissful admiration, knowing his capable services were not going to be needed in this absolute brilliancy. Today's game just might be Simon's Immortal.
Seeing this game gave me such a smile.. old school brilliancy, rashid and tal are smiling from above right now ❤
Even Morphy would be proud of this game. An e4-e5 opening, developing the bishop to d3, sacrificing the queen for an unstoppable attack involving all the pieces!
@@NWRIBronco6 it was d4 d5 tho
The Simon Line is good but maybe the Simon Attack is even better
Morphy would have absolutely loved that game. And Mr Barnes would have as well because it included pawn to f3
Ginger line
Finegold will no doubt publish a refutation asap to protect his maxim; never play f3! What a beautiful line eh?
Oh, the good old Mr. Barnes! ❤ Attack, attack, and then attack some more... the good old days of romantic chess. 👍
@@D0BR0VECE The Ginger Attack.
@@mrhighside Yes. Maybe most accurate would be Slav defense - Ginger variation.
Simon said , in his Paul Morphy video "I wish I could play chess like that" In this game, he did play like Morphy ! Bravo GM Williams :)
You put it up!!!! Thank you.
Simon Williams is the most entertaining GM in the world. His games are never dull and his ideas are unique and fun.
He's also a really funny dude, I laughed a lot watching some of his courses
let him play a super GM classical and see how interesting he is. lol. But he is a great player.
That Ginger GM is my inspiration & i learned a lot from him
I love Simon. He helped me get to 1300 playing the English opening. Great guy.
Had the pleasure to watch this in person. Beautiful game. True beauty.
For real? Cool!
Very, very impressive indeed! A joy to watch! Thanks.
The Slav Defense Simon Variation. Can totally get behind that
Awesome attack with such deep understanding of the position. Very impressive
That’s absolutely stunning and so straightforward. It’s hard to comprehend that such a game could happen from a Slav defense
From an *exchange* slav no less!
So nice you mentioned MatoJelic as an OG Chess RUclipsr influence - too bad his channel seems to be winding down these days but his legacy lives on through your work.
Simon has been my favourite chess player for many years. Glad to see him featured here.
Wow! Fantastic game. Thanks.)
Well done Simon! Easily my favourite chess youtuber and to see him pulling off a queen sac in a tournament is a joy!
thank you for pointing out the bishop pair and rook pair at the same time 6:10, really awesome
I’ve enjoyed Simon’s commentary many times but had no idea of his attacking flair. This was beautiful - thanks for sharing it!
There’s nothing better than watching Simon playing Tilted Tuesday. He’s always looking to attack
Loved the game and your commentary thank you!
Awesome that you mentioned the other chess RUclipsrs! I started with Mato and then found you in early 2018!
Best game of 2023 so far. Love Simon's commentary at major tournaments.
I love the Ginger GM! His courses, Your Videos and Eric Rosen's "Oh No My Queen" moments got me into Chess a few years ago.
Brilliant to see such a wonderful game! I want to see the Simon Variation played more!
this is a masterpiece of a setup for white after knight e6! even rook d1 (another sacrifice!) after this leads to mate crazy!
Wow, this is so great on so many levels! F3 variation, or shoould I say "Ginger variation' is briliant, also kind of 'discrescpecting' Ben Finegold's "never play f3', who of course Simon had a feud with. GingerGM and ChessNetwork were my favorites when I started watching chess on youtube around 2016, and in many regards still are, I just recently re-listened Simon's interviews on Perpetual Chess Podcast just to hear some of the stories again, and now this happens, so freaking great!
Ginger Variation.
No doubt Finegold would use an engine to examine that position, find a variation better for black, the do a recap lambasting Sir Ginger. Doing this stuff over the board is genius.
Need Ben - Simon rematch
They should call it the Finegold Attack. That would really make Ben mad.
@@KNNY61 nah, I dont think Ben's that type of guy and there's not much bad blood between them anymore, it seems. When you analyze the game with engine, it's not that easy to understand why white's evaluation is creeping up until a certain move unless you're a GM with a strong postional understanding. Obviously black not taking a pawn with a bishop on move 13 was a mistake which should not have been made on 2200 FIDE level, but you can also easilly undestand how black, with all the the potential threats that white had in this position and time ticking away, missed the fact gaining a tempo with check makes this move quite safe and actually, saves them from being put on a costatnt defensive.
Wow. Awesome. Love Simon!
Very beautiful game...
Harry (h pawn) and Garry(g pawn) was chillin' the whole time too!
Haha
You are a legend for posting this game Antonio, thank you! Was a real beauty
Great game Simon! I will definitely try that, though it might not work as well. Brilliant, Thanks Agad!
Simon doesn't pull in the numbers on his youtube channel like some of the other big streamer names, but I think he would win a poll of GMs you would choose to go down the pub and have a night out with
Or the library.
@@charliebell5073He's dyslexic yet learned chess from reading books. He's just fantastic.
I really don't understand why, his troubled title Tuesdays 😅 and his speedruns are hands down the funniest and most relaxing chess content on RUclips.
@@MarioMartinazzi He's my favourite chess streamer 100%. He has a couple drinks, jokes around with the streamers and plays some ridiculously unsound attacks against some of the best players in the world. Best Chess streamer on YT hands down. Not to mention the Napalm-Death Avante-Garde grindcore intro music 🤣
A modern classic by Simon.
Agadmator mentioning Mato Jelic’s chess channel takes me back to the old days.
mato and kingscrusher 480p
Hi, this is Mato, welcome to my online chess lecture
Never understood why he hasn't got more subs. He is very funny too.
He's one of my favorites. He has a gift for explaining chess. It's hard to generalize what's going on, but he manages it. Some commentators just baffle me with too many lines. I am a low chess player, I need it broken down simply, which Simon does. It's no good for me to watch Hikaru or Magnus, they don't talk down to my level.
Well damn. Here I'm currently struggling to improve my attacking instincts and then I see this, just to crush my spirits. Chess is hard. Awesome game though, thanks for sharing it with us.
Extremely beautiful game. Thanks
Very impressive! Well done Simon!
The Simon... 🤣 Oh yes, I like it. It's the Hannibal Lecter from chess moves 😁🤣
The Ginger GM is how old ?? He has always been an unassuming type bad arse player. I have enjoyed his approach for many many years and it makes my day to see Agad backing him up like this.
He's 43.
Simon is incredible. Thanks for this recap agadmator!
Agadmator, tusen tack for featuring the shark GM Williams!
The harmony and activity of the pieces here is reminiscent of Tal and peak Shirov. Well done Simon
Watching simon playing is one of the most enjoyable things in chess
What an awesome line thanks for sharing Agad
how can you not love simon, hilarious at commentary and instructional videos and more importantly devastating in his attacks!! Mazel tov.
Great game, great presentation!! Thank you very much!!👍👍
Kings Crusher definitely deserves a mention among the OG's
Kings Crusher is old school. I'm guessing he was one of the guys who dunked on Agad for being lesser strength but gaining more views. I find KC's variations really odd and un-human, Agad's variations generally make more sense to the average pleb.
A terrible storm of attack, even the wooden chessboard cracked !
When the Apollo mission landed on the moon they found a rock inscribed “Simon was here.”
Jebus, that Bishop Rook domination at 6:13 was incredible. Wow! I'll be studying this game.
The 2:00 position by Simon has been the position I've always been trying to get to in my games in the past couple months, I just love this centre control. This F3 pawn I've been doing in a while
such a good game! that Ba3 move gave me some evans gambit vibes and somehow knew some material would be sacrifice lol! thanks for sharing!
Outstanding stuff. Cool to see him in a serious C game.
You are the best chess commentator I've ever heard 👍
Thanks man!
I've learnt about f3 from Carl boor, and he calls it the boor attack.
Nice game. Thanks, Antonio.
I used pawn to f3 in the next game I played with white and it worked! It took a couple of extra moves, but eventually, pawn to e5, bishop captures h7 and it was all over. Good thing he hadn't seen this video, yet.
Love Simon. Just a good egg in general and an extremely entertaining dude
Brillante mate!.gracias agadmator's Saludos.
The quote from Bobby Fischer is eye-opening. That mentality caused both his highest highs and his lowest lows.
So true
Blablabla simp comment
Imagine a chess nerd calling people names.
It just shows what a narcisist he was.
he had no lows
OMG, I've been playing chess for more than 50 years, and I've never seen such a brutal attack! Stunning game!
The Williams Attack refuting the Slav Defense
Brilliant attack from simon!
Such a beautiful analysis of a beautiful game. Props to both players for their courage and to Simon for his service (and pure passion!) of the The Beautiful Game.
Do call it the Simon’s line. He is a very modest commentator in chess. 👍🏽
Ginger line
Lots of fun. Love Simon's seemingly improvisational style.
Nice win for Simon with the Slav exchange Williams attack.
Just the other day i watched one of his game with amazing, almost study/composition like endgame and he found best moves live in bullet game.It was amazing and I didnt think anything can top it and then he does this.wow
This certainly made my day better :)
What an absolutely incredible game. Congrats to Simon on a complete brilliancy.
The innocuous f3; reminds me a bit of the Blackmar Diemer Gambit and related lines vs. the Caro Kann or the Scandinavian.
Beautifully beautifully played
crazy game! beautiful attack by simon, loved the video!
great game, great recap, thanks
Love Simon Williams 's game he is very exciting
The opening is the boor attack, invented by FM Michael Boor I believe
The Red Viking? Ginger Viking? According to something I saw said by thechessviking (Zibbit) he & Simon had looked at a few lines of this (Boor attack) in a pub before the tournament!
Simon Williams plays chess the way we dream to be poets. This is his gift - on the board he is how I want to be in life - teaching that, with reasonable risk, there is chance for more beauty, mirth and glory!
Thank you, Antonio. Vintage classical use of minimum force, maximum effect.
Simon Williams' Immortal Game
Not only of 2023. A brilliant performance by GM and teacher Simon Williams indeed.
The Ginger Immortal!! Game of the Year so far, and I'd be gobsmacked if it was surpassed at all! GG to Good Guy Simon! He deserves it!
B4 and F3 are Magical.
Put this game on loop in my tree fort, Ben Finegold is not happy.
The Ginger Attack. This is really stunning.
Oh man that’s was flipping awesome. Very different!!!
Agreed, best tactical sequence of 2023 so far.
Wow! He made this look so easy! What a game!
Yes call it the Simon indeed😊
simon williams produces yet another beauty. what an absolute romantic
Wow, that is beautiful co-ordination.
Whoa !! Proper coordination. Lovely.
What a game. GingerGM is the guy who got me into chess. He's the only person I've paid for content, including his GingerGM videos and his chessable courses. He explains things in a way everyone can understand. What a game! Can't wait to see him upload analysis of it
Watching Hikaru stream is like going back to math class and studying Pythagoras. Lines for days. Ginger just plays up for the lads and has a crack. Absolute gun
I learn the most from GingerGM. I like plenty of chess streamers BUT don't learn as much from them
Ginger got me into chess too. A national treasure of the UK
He just uploaded it.
"Simon was pushing the h pawn before AlphaZero made this cool..."- All I needed to hear about Simon the OG
Simon variation is on the board, this is what agad will say from now for this opening
"Checkmate ends the game" as Simon says.
What a game from GingerGM!
Super happy for Simon, gorgeous win
