Your comment about dog days of summer are spot on. The white on white jig is our favorite, too.

I grew up fishing the Ohio river between Louisville and Cincinnati. There’s nothing quite like it and honestly I wouldn’t trade it for the world. That white jig speed craw combo is a deadly little deal for sure too!

It is definitely a different fishery, it has its days. If you can catch em on the River consistently, you can catch em anywhere.

It’s a tough sucker sometimes but I do love it. It’s where I cut my teeth bass fishin. It used to be a whole lot better 8-10 years ago. Those dang carp have sure put a hurtin on it.

@@jasontron5851 no problem! When the smallmouth move up shallower and get on a decent top water bite this fall we should go. Message me early October and we will set it up. 👍

Awesome! Thanks for watching! This pool of the river here is tough! The one thing I have found in the summer, especially if we have some rain that creates some inflow, the spotted bass and occasionally smallmouth will stack up on the current seams where the creek current and the Ohio river current meet. Often, you can catch multiple fish in these areas. Also any of the washouts or drains coming off of the steeper banks on the main river will hold good numbers of bass. Size is typically the problem in our pool of the Ohio river. Quality bass are hard to come by. It seems to me the quality bass seem to be found farther up the creeks on laydowns in the channel bends. Flipping a small tube or a craw of some sort seems to be the most productive for me. Good luck out there!
