  • When most people think bass fishing they don't think about the Ohio River, and that's a mistake! There are certainly some good largemouth and other species to be had in these waters.

It's amazing, a dream of mine since child hood. I grew up fishing in that fiver in the 60's as a kid and a teen and young adult in the 70's. unfortunately at that period in time it was very rare to catch anything besides a carp or a catfish because not mush of everything else could survive in that due to the steel mills and plating plants dumping acid and other chemicals into it. I hope the GOD every one has learned from that. those of us who lived will never forget. Let us PLEASE take care of it. The mercury will never go away it will continue to break down to extremely small levels in due time. I mercy killed many fish with tumors and freakish birth defects. some of them were miserable. I never thought i would ever see the abundance of fish and wild life that we can enjoy now. It was a long time coming. I'm still skeptical about eating fish from that water.

I'll never know if any Ohio river fish are tasty or not. I'm afraid to eat anything from that nasty contaminated water.

Never would have given the Ohio River a 2nd look for Bass. Might try to catch a few to help with a small Lake restocking.
