This is great but I found it a bit weird that no-one even mentioned Tom Skinner other than in the intro to say he is in the band - his jazzy drums are a big part of what makes The Smile's sound distinct from Radiohead.
A truly beautiful album. Feels like a life raft in this Instagram rotted world. I am so grateful for it
Went to see the smile in Glasgow a few weeks ago now and it was one of the best experiences, and I've seen Radiohead aswell, I'm really enjoying the smiles stuff 🏴👀🎸👍
Bending Hectic is incredible and as close to Radiohead as it gets.
Maybe Pablo honey, or very early Radiohead 🫤
Bending Hectic is probably the best song Thom has written in a few years
This band is a walking masterpiece
Agreed..... I'm now 48 and still battling myself with anxiety....hearing Wall Of Eyes track obviously for me Thom wrote about anxiety situations...
The Tourist... The dog can sense that I'm freaking out even though the humans can't...
Paranoid Android... Escalating violence fantasies till you're kicked out of the nightclub for setting yuppies on fire...
Packt Like Sardines / Airbag / Bending Hectic... Fear of auto accidents
It's always weird to me when people misinterpret Thom's anxiety for depression.
Just loving the vibe-y vibes! Has anyone noticed the hazy sound that is layered on as a piece, not in parts but as a lofi total. A cloudy sounding record….killing some of the pristine sound of recording. A hazy sounding record. I need to compare how Light For Attracting Attention. I don’t remember it having the haze. Tomorrows musical goal. Not a criticism, it’s just been under my skin since the Wall of Eyes release. Works well, especially with the ghost like vocal delivery on a few of the track.
❤
Skinner def plays a bigger role than he gets credit for. You need a certain kinda vibe to play with T&J.
