    Fleet Air Arm in Malta - February 1943.
    Various shots of ground crews loading up Fairey Albacore Biplanes with Torpedoes on a Malta airstrip. Several shots of Fleet Air Arm pilots relaxing between sorties. They joke whilst smoking pipes and cigarettes - some nice footage. M/S pan with two Albacores taking off and flying low over airfield. Some good air to air shots of the Albacore aircraft. More shots of of bombs being loaded. More good shots of the aeroplanes in flight. Various shots in briefing room of pilots being briefed.     The Malta story in world war 2 is an amazing story of guts, bravery, starvation, determination, siege fortitude and resolution at the highest standards of human experience and endeavour. The air war is but a part but, as fascinating and compelling as any other aspect.. and the fairey albacore. another fascinating aeroplane.

    I'd love to know what Squadron this is. My Great Uncle was a Albacore pilot with 821 NAS in Malta in '43.

    Malta during WWII (1940-45) was the British Empire's airfield to bomb Italy and Tunisia,and of vital importance for the landings in Sicily and Calabria.
