I know I have told you this before, but I still feel it necessary to repeat… I adore your channel and how you teach. You are so thorough without being overwhelming. And, I find your tone and relaxed attitude when you are with your plants so comforting. My ADHD squirrel brain much appreciates your detail in how you both show and explain what you are doing and why. I know you haven’t posted in a while as family and life sometimes takes us away. However, I find myself coming back to your channel often to rewatch videos and find ones that I haven’t seen yet. Thank you so much for your content. And hoping you and your family are well!!
Thank you so much! I bought three orchids planted together and found they were rotting. I’m new to orchids so this video was very helpful.
You are so thorough and good at explaining orchid care. Best regards from a knew subscriber!
Madam i am happy to find your channel on youtube
Thank you much indeed for your helpful explanations how to care the sick orchids
With lots of patience and love and your greeny hands
What I've learned from you I will practice now so that my orchids are growing healthy and happy🙏🙏
Thank you very much for the detailed presentation of the resuscitation of your orchid. I hope the orchid is okay now. 🌺🌸🌼
Thank you so much Emaan, I learn so much things from your video, salam from Indonesia 😘😘
You are very good at Orchids and show very detailed video for novice to understand. Thank you.
I love your channel Emaan! You’re an excellent teacher. I wish I lived near you so I could run to your house with my sick orchids.
+Barb Froede Thank you for watching and loving my channel. I wish you lived close to me. But if you need advice or my help feel free and ask.
I live in Canada for 50 years I enjoyed your video thank you for your time
This is the best orchid saving video I have seen so far. I only wish I would have seen it earlier today before I cut all the rotten roots from my orchid directly at the base. My husband bought for me as a Mother's Day gift, so it I haven't even had it two months and the blooms dropped much quicker than other orchids I've had in the past. I believe the moss suffocated my roots and caused the rot. I should have tended to it as soon as I realized the blooms weren't lasting as long as they should, but I waited too long. I do believe it was bad when he bought it as its decline was so rapid. Anyway, I thought that if the root is mushy at the base then it must be bad all the way down. Some roots had good, firm parts in the middle, like yours, but I cut every single root except one, which is a little bit white colored but still firm and not mushy. In your opinion, does my orchid have a chance at survival even without the root strings and only one remaining "okay" root? Thank you !
Thank you, I cleaned mine . But it snapped. So it’s gone 🥀so now I buy a new one and follow u so I can grow better 🌙💫🌼🌹orchids I love 💓..
Beautifully well Demonstrated
Thank you from Atlanta! Blessings to you and your family. Excellent instructions.❤
Great job!😌🙏💖I have 2 phalaenopsis I rescued. One had almost no roots because of rot. They are both making new leaves. I didn't have hydrogen peroxide, so I used a fungicide and sprayed the phalaenopsis well. I cut off all the dead roots and inspected the stem. It looked healthy enough. My 2 orchids have been recovering for 2 months. They look good. I'm trying your methods to help my phalaenopsis to health😌💖
Enjoyed watching . Thank you
thank you ! i've learned so much about patience and persistence and being vigilant for their well being and survival
+FITZIEBLUE you are welcome!
I bought an orchid plant and knew something was wrong because the leaves were flimsy. I watched this video and decided to clean it out. OH My!!! Rotted root! All the roots were dead. I squeezed some and one popped like a pimple; squirted all over my face😂😂 I'm trying to save it. Leaves are green so I have hope. Only time will tell. Your video was very informative🌼🌼
Does your cup have any small holes for air to get to the roots ?
What else can you use if you don't have moss or bark to repot! I'm new and came across your video. You are so awsome explaining and showing us to replant our orchids 👍👏🤗
Давно смотрю ваши видео, спасибо за полезную инфо, пусть будет доволен вами Аллах, что делитесь опытом, надеюсь для многих это интересно. Ассалому алейкум from Uzbekistan 👋👋👋
+Arukhan Yermukhanova ва алайкум ассалам ва рохматуллохи ва барокатуху. И вам большое спасибо за то что смотрите мои видео. 🌺🌺❤️
Hi Emaan! How are you? After the water method failed miserably I tried your sphag in box method with rooting hormone, the second last leaf fell off but at its base I found a tiny little green bud pointing upwards: a new baby leaf! So, still insisting in the long rescue process.. who knows (but the phal seems worn out). Will keep you all updated, bye
How often do you water your orchids in general?
Hello can you please show me how you make your vases out of bottles its a great idea l can't see if you leave the top and if you put holes in them thanking you in advance love watching your videos
Excellent
Hi, How do you kill the fungus bugs?
Can we use those old Spagnamus that comes from the old ones,or from the orchids you have transferred?
Emaan I like to show me sometimes on African Violet and thank you I love this plant to and I love Archid

My Orchid roots are hard and grey. My flower spikes are healthy. So are my leaves. Will I lose my Flowers? Is my pot to big ? I ca see 1 root in the bottom. The bottom is still moist.
Thank you.

You are welcome. Thank you
Thank you Emaan. How do you fertilise dendrobium?
I 💖 your channel.🥰
+Julia Martinez Thank you!🌺😊
Do you have catasetum? If you do can you show how you take care before dormant and during dormancy. Thank you
Can you show us how you make your medium?
i wish I came across this video so I wud probably have had a better chance to save the 6 pots of orchids that had the exact issue. too bad they are totally gone as I gave up thinking they have dried up so they are hopeless.
most say the roots which are like string must be removed from stem.. you keep them.. which info is correct?
Do you put that solution every time you gonna change or clean up Arcade thank you
Do we have to use this solution to clean up the Archid
How do I use the cinnamon to help my rotten roots and stem to heal???? I need help, my orchid is going to die 😔
Hello there! I like your idea
Thank you
ty for sharing
Hello Emaan, if I use peroxide, do I delute it with water? Or do I simply use the peroxide as it is?
Thank you for your videos! They are so educational!
What,s the name of the fertilizer you are using
Hi! EMMAAN NICE VIDEO HOUW COULG I PUT ROOTING HORMONE and where! Can I put them on the base of the plant Phalaenopsis or put them on water
+Ethel Rizarri Hi, Thank you. It is better to put on the base of orchids. Don’t put in water. If you put in water it will kill your orchid. I tried and it is tested.
Can you provide a link for the potassium permanganate?
Hello Emaan, I was thinking that sometimes you find the orchid has bad roots with evident signs of rotting but they still have nice stiff leaves (like the one you showed).
In other instances you find very floppy leaves and no signs of heavy rotting with greenish roots maybe a bit short but stiff or maybe with a darkened but hard end.
So, is this rescue system advisable for very floppy creased roots too?
Thank you so much 😊
Kate
+Kate Beedot Hello! I have exactly that kinds among my trash found orchids. They have bad roots ( some roots are brown, some green but dead, some brown dead empty roots) and with wrinkly floppy leaves. I soaked them in green left over tea ( for some time with leaves, other times with roots) and after that I put them in a glass cup with water. Now I see they are getting more better. But didn’t grow new roots yet. If I see more changes to good side with them I will update and show people. Now I see chages on leaves only.
@@EmaansGarden Great video. I just have 2 quick questions. Firstly, how can you apply the tea to just the leaves (and how often) as my orchid only has two very limp looking leaves left? Secondly, I only just repotted my orchid yesterday but I didn't dry it first as you did here, or clean/disinfect the roots with anything after removing all the rotted ones because the other video I had watched didn't show this (their roots were much healthier!)
Your orchid looks like mine though, and now your roots look so much better and I'm worried that I didn't go through all the correct steps you did. My question is whether I should re-pot it again so soon (and follow your video)? I'm worried because the few roots I have left were so fragile.
Hope you can help :)
Can you share more things to do with potassium permanganate please!!
Why do you leave the strings?
Can I buy the medium from you pls?
What is a keke n how do I idenify?
It looks like you did an orchid surgery. You are very patient. Some folks I know, they just throw them away and just buy healthy ones.
Do u have orchids in sponges?
Emaan, I miss you and hope you’re doing well. Haven’t seen a new video in awhile and just want to check on you, my friend.
Luv and miss you. Hope all’s well with you and your family. 😘
+Barb Froede Hi, my friend . I’m doing well, just got busy with my plants and my kids. I miss you too. Growing the plants and vlogging are two different things . With small kids it is little bit not easy. I will make new videos soon. Thank you for asking and worrying about me. Love you 🥰🌺🌺
Emaan, I’m just glad you and your family are doing well! You know I love to see my Emaan’s vlog, but I’m happy you are spending time with your babies.
Stay well, my friend! 😘😘
Love your idea of using plastic cups. Do you put holes in the bottom?
+Anne Boggie Thank you. Yes I made wholes in the cups.
What recipe for your orchid medium please?
Hi , madam , I just asking what names off the one use watching orchid before u replant the one u order in amason thnx u . I love ur show , only begging to plant the orchid ,
One of my phalaenopsis has no leaves but green roots will leaves grow or should I throw it out
+allan mcewan don’t throw it away. It will grow babies from the roots. But it takes a month to see a new baby. You have to be careful with watering. Don’t soak it in the water. Just try to keep the medium moist and awoid over drying. Don’t put too much water, because the plant doesn’t have leaves and it can not drink all the water you put.
Thank for your advice
Wow
🙏🙏💕💕super video...hello Fromm Croatia💕💕🙏🙏
Hello. Thank you very much for watching and commenting 😍🌹
Fungus gnats are the worst I was fighting to get rid of them for a few years tired everything. The only thing that finally worked for me is I gathered all my plants and put them on a table and put a big fan in front of them and put it on high for a week and a half. After a couple of years this was the only thing that helped get totally rid of them. Thanks to Ricks orchids on u tube he helped me with the problem.
OMYGOD Renee I had tbe worst battle with fungus gnats two years ago and lost almost all of my plants. I haven't had a problem since because I changed to a more well-draining soil or I mix perlite with my soil to make it more fast-draining, but especially, I placed a fan in my kitchen since it's the most humid room besides my bathroom, and I always have a constant a flow going.
I'm currently doing the same, but it's dehydrating my orchids and setting them back, so I feel like I'm harming them no matter what I do...
Not sure if you will ever see this but here, is my solution when it comes to potting soil and fungus gnats - you need to sterilize the soil.
Get a stock pot and put your potting soil in it. I use a cheap stock pot that I got from Walmart because I won't cook food with this pot again. Add water. Not enough to make mud but enough to get the soil moist. Cover and put in the oven, 350 for an hour. The heat and steam from the water will kill off any fungus gnats, their larvae and eggs. This soil is now "clean" and ready to use - when it cools down of course!
Get yourself some sand; beach sand or go to Home Depot and get paver sand. After potting with the "clean" soil put a layer of sand of top of the soil, about 1/2" to 1" deep. The sand will create an unappealing barrier to repel the gnats. The dry sand does not appeal to the gnats and the sand will protect the soil underneath. Plus the sand looks cool.
So there you go: an easy chemical free way to get fungus gnats out of potting soil and prevent them from re-establishing themselves.
Two other tips:
1. Baking potting soil does not smell that great, so do it when you will be able to air out the house.
2. Future watering: water gently so as not to disrupt your sand barrier.
Good Luck!
ArcherPiperII Thanks for the tips. I’ve let my plants dry out real good before watering again. It seems to have worked, plus over winter with it being dry in the house helped to. I tried the fan method but they came back. Thanks for your tips I’ll keep them in mind the next time I have this problem 😊
@@MrKostas6969 Those gnats sure are annoying when they get established.
Are you going to cut off the flower stem so the energy will go to making new roots?
What does the take root do to help the orchids??
Less watering, make them really thirsty between watering
por favor , si pueden los comentarios en espanol ,yo no hablo ingles y me encanta tu s videos dede ya muchas gracias
Hello Emaan,i like your video's,i have two questions for you:1)not to the rest of the orchid?only for the roots? 2) how you sterilise the sphagnum moss? Thanks for your help
I mean the old sphagnum moss...
+Gioula Mparta Hello, Thank you for watching and loving my videos. Your first question I didn’t get. I sterilise with hot water. First I wash it in the sink. After I put hot water.
Of course you haven't anterstud because my question wasn't very clear, I'm sorry,i mean with hydrogen peroxide only stem and roots we can clean, for the test of the plant we can't use it; thanks for your answer, I'm a beginner from Greece...
Where do you purchase these tall narrow clear plastic pots or glasses?
+Stuart Kaufman It is not a pot. It is a cup. I use those plastic cups for planting my orchids.
Emaan I have just found most of your video's , I love them and learning so much from them. I see you are a very busy lady, do you think you might make a book from your experience? I would buy one thank you so much
What caused the green leaves to get mushy?
+Donna Cone Too much sphagnum moss around the leaves. Leaves were sitting deep in the moss.
Do you cut them off
Ok 👌
Show us anthurium. I lost too many. Killing them. Also calathea. Very difficult to keep them
Why don’t you put holes around the cup but only at the bottom? Is it not necessary?
+anishka silva I don’t put because it is not necessary. Some of my orchids even grow without a drainage holes. If you really know how to water the holes don’t make big difference.
Emaan I swear... will try this as soon as I get a hold of perlite and other stuff in Sri Lanka, because that’s where I live. Yesterday after watching your videos for more than 4 hours, I removed all the coconut husk pieces from my home. And put them on denrobiums outside.
Will only use use your medium and I will change all my plants one at a time.
You just answered my question haha
+Anne Boggie you are very lucky. 😄
I don't understand. The plant you potted has many routes and is not as barren as the plant you cleaned off. What happened.
Correct.. It is not the same plant.. Why use a different plant..
Same observation it's a different plant that is potted
Orchid I always mixed up with the writing thank you Orchid
do you use potassium permanganate as a foliar spray?
No i don’t spray but i wash it if it is rotten, and it kills bad bacteria then i dry it under the fan
@@EmaansGarden Thank you. Stay safe, Emaan!
Not surprised you have rot using moss
+Graham Jappe Moss by itself is ok if you know how to grow your orchid. But in this situation it was sitting deep in the moss . That’s why I have rot
Emaan i don't know what is going on but tried to watch this video...at the 7 min marked I was forced to watch already 6 minutes of ads. I had to give up.
عبائتك جميله..
Om Abdallah Alfaraj شكر لك يا اختي
Thank you sister!🌺🥰
I try to safe my to.
You have no breathing holes or drainage holes, why?
I just saw you did hav drainage
I put my mini orchid with rotting roots in water culture. It kept rotting in new moss.
So how is it going?
@@ityrlifeafter6564 it didn't make it :(
Damn!! Im followong you 😂😭😭
I tho it would be work
@@ityrlifeafter6564 but there's something I want to share: recently I watered 2 of my 5 orchids with rainwater+ seeweed+calmag. Both orchids started growing new leaves in about 2 days after that. Rainwater is awesome. But I live in an apartment in a big city. Rainwater is really hard for me to collect.
Eman. Where are you from I could tell from your room accent I’m thinking you are Lebanese let me know cause I’m Lebanese from Lebanon I like your accent anyway maybe French 💕
Could you please list the media used?
Love your video BUT please pot holes in your clear plastic pots 🙏
Must have slits or holes in the sides otherwise no drainage 😳
In this cup you haven’t do you have to make All in the cup thank you so the water will drain
Mulch is for your garden.
👍👏🌺🙌😍
+Valentina thank you 🙏
All evening watched your vids. What most impressed me- you are Mom of 5 kids and a student and you taking care of sooo many orchids! They are all looks amazing . Today I reported 2 of my orchids like you do . Will see how long I could go without water them. Coz I have 35 of them and all different water days 😏 can’t synchronize them yet... maybe it will work . Thanks again. You impress me 🙏🌸🙌🌸😍 God bless your big family 🙏🙏🙏
Did everything you said and found many rotted routes after potting. Cut out All brown routes and try to grow new ones. Your also not talking about light or humidity.
I thought the strings are the roots, the green is the protective filament covering the roots.
+G G You think right. The strings are the roots , but without the coverage ( filament) they can not exist, can not take nutrients or water without the filament, they die.
Archid
It’s all rotting at the top cause you have moss around it. It needs air. If you have them in humidity why don’t you just grow them in good quality orchid bark. Not pine mulch.
Never reuse moss.
Do not use spagnugmoss. Rots rutes.
Noooo look at that mulch. It’s breaking down.... rotting.
..
You’re very rough with your orchids...I’ve never seen anyone handle orchids this way.
Slow anh nobles
Awww cut the roots off, they will not regrow.
Good to keep the inner fibres for stability in the bark while the new roots grow
Cut those roots off. They are no longer attached to the plant. They will just rot.
