If the portal housing is casting i would rather have iron cast than aluminium cast, but if its a billet 7075 like 74weld i think aluminium would be strong enough
Never mind the sales talk - it would also be handy to know if this amount of body lift is acceptable in all the states around Australia and what the implications are in terms of cost and additional engineering and testing as well.
The way second stage manufacturing works is that the vehicle is no longer a Toyota Vehicle, it becomes the vehicle from who ever does the second stage engineering pre registration, which is legal in all states and govt approved in Aus! Eg, HSV Holdens were registered as Holden Commodores, they were registered under second stage manufacturing as HSV Holdens, from HSV (eg the HSV Factory in Aus).
The portals and 35’s add 6 inches. As that is second stage manufacture, it essentially means your car is now standard at that height. By law in all states, you can add another 2 inches in suspension lift as I do in mine. I’m now 8 inches over stock.
@SirLuisBarrera Yeah, like most companies, they bring new and improve products to better their products, for example, superior engineering and many 4wd accessory companies.
@SirLuisBarrera as from what I understand the new facelift cruiser have the same drive line as the old shape. Just the difference is its new and one has the 2.8l cruiser.
@@tichakundaj It's ssm pre rego, to do everything again would be post rego. It is not a matter of swapping. As you point Cars are the same. It could be swapped but you will have to pay full price since all housings seem different. Maybe NSW would allow.
As you say, " you have and would not build a car without portal axles ! Come on not everyone can afford them ! Given you are sponsored and get them for nothing ! be real in footage and make it real for the average person please. Guaranteed if your out the Top End of Australia or out West of the Eastern seaboard you will not get a Mechanic Workshop that will have this type of gear to fix it if there is a breakdown remote !!! Its as simple as this, Its a Rich Mans mod to a 4WD. That's the reality of it !!!!!!
That all is true. However just today on the tele track a 76 with portals just left everyone behind at a particularly steep rutted creek exit. He just drove it. For everyone else, who did not turn back, it was maxtrax and winching. I want the portals.
We invested in Portal axles from Marks 4WD paying good money nearly 6 years ago and have run them for over 300,000 kms in every state of Australia as we photograph and film 4wds for a living. It cost us a packet but was in my opinion, one of the best things we added to the Mighty 79. My wife didn’t even understand why I wanted them, but they simply transform a 79 series into an extremely capable vehicle. Please don’t judge the modifications we are adding as being outside of the average person, as my first 4wd was a beaten up Hilux which I completely rebuilt to be exactly what I wanted it to be. This is the best thing about 4wds… you can make them whatever you want them to be. For me… I simply wouldn’t build a 70 series cruiser without Portals… this is genuine 💯
The mighty 79 put portals on the map for the first time.... and they have done it again. Great work to all involved. Great new features.
Cheers for the feedback mate 🙏
Very nice. Hoping to see you guys do some work on the Grenadier as well.
Excellent 👌
Portals are a must now for the 2.8 70Cruisers. I am guessing the new portal design will have coil springs in the back 😂
With the new Parabolics by @arb4x4 developed by OME … you don’t need coils. These things are soooooo comfortable 👍

I believe it was mentioned in some old videos thats 6” lift total from portals and tyres. And 0 lift from suspension so you dont lose droop

$30k plus
What tyres are you running on the new 79?
If I understand correctly, the Portals for the back are slightly different to the front in order to comodate the wide difference ?
The Portals correct the rear axle as it is narrower than the front from factory.
does this mean the Marks 4WD SSM can now incorporate chassis extensions and coiler conversions?
They'd be more likely to come up with their own coil conversion than engineer for someone elses.
Parabolics suspension by @arb4x4 is soooo comfortable 👍
How do you go with the higher Centre of Gravity? 79 series are a reasonably top-heavy vehicle to start with
Height is (more than) compensated by 100mm extra width on each side.

Looking good Michael 👍 would your current portal cruiser be one of highest kms portal cruisers out there?

Can you update your current portal to these new designs, or are they only for the new ones.
no, Leigh mentioned it is a whole new design at the start of the video
