Hi Gareth, most of us get this warning display in Winter as the tyres are cold, so pressure drops a bit. You have to pump the tyres up to the correct pressure and then OK the reset. Sometimes the warning does not go away instantly, and you have to drive a few miles till the tyres pressures are accepted by the TPMS system (tyre pressure monitoring system). The cost of this system is going to be noticeable on cars when they reach 6 years or more, as the internal battery in each wheels sensor valve will pack in and will require replacing, by removing tyre from alloy and fitting new sensor valve that have new internal battery. One owner mentioned about £40 a tyre or more, as they each pack in. An expensive addition to our running costs. Cheers Col.
Again Col….. awesome insight to the detail. Thank you sir. As a former engineer I do understand the principle of barometric pressure and how it affects semi sold material. But the sensor insight is invaluable. Do you know how the folks fair when they change the wheels to non standards please??
@@smarte.r.1450 You do have to watch what tyres you pick, as it really can affect the anti-skid system. My car is reasonably new, so plenty tread left, but will be looking to replace with same make and size of tyre when the time comes, to avoid such problems.

@@Sunny_a88 ok. I had the same issue when I made this exact video … I went around all the tyres and slightly over inflated… drove for a mile or so. Then reset and it was fixed. It could be that one of the tyre pressure sensors have failed and needs replacing. About £50 is from memory. Before you spend any money you could disconnect the battery for 5 mins. Then reconnect and reset again if still showing. Hope this helps. Thanks for the comment and interaction, if not done so. Changing rear brake shoes, replacing the brake fluid, lamp replacements. Thanks. Gareth
Hi came across this video today as I have the same car a smart fourfour and had this come up on the dash. Tyre pressure caution tyre malfunction what does this mean. It was in red. I have checked the tyres and pumped them up to 29 psi as that's what on the drivers door. All tyre a pretty firm. Please help hahaa
Legend. Had this on the Mrs car and the warning wouldn't go away despite me checking the pressure. Cheers for the short simple video.
So glad you found it helpful. Happy wife happy life

Hi. Can you make a video on how to turn ESP off?
Hi, this message keeps appearing?? All the tyres are perfectly fine. Iv reset the tyre pressure. What could be the problem?
